Something not right?

Description

Basic campsite near town, used by overlanding trucks. Free Wifi . Plenty of space, outdoor type ablutions. Restaurant and bar.
Pitches have electricity, light and braai area. Overland trucks use the site from Thursday till Monday night but place should be large enough to not get affected by that.
The passing trains blasting their horn is limited but notiable

good campsite in town. nice bar and restaurant. outdoor and indoor ablutions. friendly staff.

Report Check-In

Nice campsites with electricity outlets. Clean ablution facilities and hot water for showers. Nice bar area. Free WiFi. Friendly and helpful staff. P105 pp per site

Me and two women just got robbed in the morning and threatened with a knive by somebody who didn't work here. The scary thing was that there is literally nobody from the camp. We tried to call them, they didn't pick up. After an hour we just wanted to leave.

Report Check-In

Avoid like the plague
Ablutions are horrific....
Plan your trip into or through Bots as there's very few really decent places to camp.
around 45kms North of Francistown is a nice camp called Bush Buck and worth a over night or 2 stay to or from border as I do.
In either direction if you cross border early you can make this halfway easily, Avoid driving far north at night after Elephant sands due to wild life, hitting a elephant at night is deadly dangerous and has led to fatalities

Stopped here for one night camping. Campsite and ablutions somewhat run down perhaps partly due to the onslaught of Covid. Wifi only at the bar. Friendly staff but the main drawback is the constant music that is coming from the nearby bar on the site and from a bush shebeen not far away which for light sleepers even with ear plugs will ruin the experience. Asking for the bar music volume to be reduced at 9pm was ignored. We wont go back again because of this. Pula 105 pppn camping.

Report Check-In

When I checked in it was as quiet as quiet could be, and resembled an oasis in the middle of the Bush. However the noise from a local shabene and nightclub were horrendous.... I camped here for 4 days - two of which were over the weekend; would definitely not recommend a weekend stay - it's party time. On my second night, the nightclub had an outdoor party which went on until 4:30 in the morning! The facilities are also showing their age. I went to shut the toilet door, and it came off its hinges. All that being said, it only costs P105 for a night, so if you are looking for cheap accommodation it's worth checking out.

Report Check-In

Want to add: free WiFi all over the campsite. Fastest in the restaurant.
The route here is not difficult at all. I am really surprised to see 4x4 travellers comment, that the route here was difficult. Maybe they are not really ready for Africa! I have experienced 50 times worse than this.
There are friendly dogs running freely on the site.

Weird comment left by user Ultra4x4. Just leave your own opinion instead of disagreeing with other's experience. I really liked this place. Nice funky vibe at the bar with a good chance to meet locals. The staff is super friendly, but you have to wait for your food. So order another beer 😉 The campsite is big with lots of shade from large trees. I took one of the small rooms with private bathroom, fridge and aircon for 300 pula, it's lovely.
It's a campground in the city not far from the railway, so if you expect complete silence.... you are.... well.
Take a spot closer to the camping kitchen, then you will have less noise. Or pit in some earplugs.
The place could use a little face-lift, but it's been 2 years of Covid, so most places are showing signs of no income for too long.
also you pay 150 pula for a tentsite, so be fair.
I liked it a lot and would come back.

Nice hosts, clean and comfortable campsite.
We had a nice stay here!

Report Check-In

Abit out the way and really annoying route to get to camp, the 'indoor ablutions' are in need of urgent updating as it borders on disgusting otherwise all ok, beers, food etc available, wifi slooow
Wanted to leave early around 5:30 gates locked and no one around to open which is potentially life threatening if there is a emergency situation.

Report Check-In

nice place, friendly, good price 75 pppn

Report Check-In

75p ppn. Nice place, ablution not perfect, good wifi

Report Check-In

Friendly staff but could be better maintained.

Report Check-In

Perfect campsite. Lots of shade, good facilities, small kitchen. Camping is 105pula per person. Did not hear any train of music from the bar, although it was a Saterday night.

Report Check-In

Price is still P210,- for two people. When we were there quite some nasty mosquitos. From the bar and from outside loud music was playing against one another. No sign of any train (yet).

Report Check-In

Terribly managed campsite. Empty beer cans on the parking lot. There was a party all night. Poop in the campgrounds in the morning. Train wakes you up 2-3 times. No toilet paper. I slept well like usual but my wife says she had max 2 Hrs shuteye.

Report Check-In

Camp behind the railwaystation and you hear everytime when the are shunting. The place is smal, ablution is dirty but with hot water. The kitchen is very dirty. The bar is nice, the seating furniture uncomfortable. The restaurant we don't taste.

Report Check-In

210P p2ppn. There are no signs on the main road and GoogleMap take you the wrong road. After She'll filing station turn to the right to the railway sign before Standard Bank. Than follow the signs.

Report Check-In

Nice and only camp in town. The horns from the trains where not as bad as others described, I've heard it only once.
There is a new owner since two months, he is called Mike, and he is doing a lot of renovations in the place. Very helpful guy and friendly staff.

Report Check-In

Terrible for tent camping. The swimming pool has become a pond full of loud cane toads that make it impossible to sleep, combined with trains and loud music from the bar. Dorm and chalets might be okay but don't try tent camp!

Report Check-In

Yes it was noisy but ok, because we slept in our truck. You can hear the music from the bar. Abolutions run down, they are clean but definitely need some maintenance.... quite expensive for what you get, but ok for one night.

Report Check-In

We are fine with this place. Found a shady bay at the fence. Ok, the trains are noisy, but it just for one night. 190 Pula for 2
They did not mind our dog.

Report Check-In

A very nice place with a nice bar, friendly stuff, funny ablutions, BUT - the trains in the Night..... absolutely horrible !!! from Midnight until 4 o´clock in the morning they blow their horns soooo loud - creepy ! we wanted to stay two nights here, but we escaped after the first night - that is very sad, because the place is really nice, unfortunately it´ s at the wrong place- you can not stand the noise here - a pitty

Report Check-In

Big sandy Campsite. Pitches not very well organised at the contrary of what a former comment wrote there is no renovation or refurbishing going on. We got a room for toilet and shower. The hot water was just enough for 1 person. Staff is friendly. Indeed it's near the train station which brings lots of noise and very loud honking until 02.00 am. Furthermore there were South African visitors in a chalet next to our pitch, they left the campsite at 03.00 am, during al that time they were talking very loud. At the same cottage airco was running with a terrible noise. Wifi is available at the bar and is very slow. We payed 95 pula pp

Report Check-In

I agree with previous comment: this is perhaps the noisiest campsite I've ever been! Very loud music and trains. The food in the nice looking bar was awful. Worst burger I had in a long time. And expensive at 85p! Camping is 95p on large, disorganised area. No clear pitches, just park wherever you feel like. Some taps have drinkable water. They are still renovating so I got a room for ablutions. Shower was clean but cold. Open air ablutions are nice but not very well maintained. Friendly staff. Lots of tourists.

Report Check-In

I can not confirm the lower comments: This place is noisy! First there was a noisy party (of the owners?) with loud Afrikaans music, then the trains where passing and honking the whole night and last but not least, bars and car races from outside are clearly to hear.
The campsite would be beautiful but not recommendable with that noise level.
95P ppn

Report Check-In

So sad that the rain hasd made a mud bath out of the camp site but the excellent receptionist gave me a room at the campsite rate. Really fast wifi in the bar. Two very friendly cats. The entire place is under renovation so in two months time everything will be new.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite behind the train station. The night was much quieter than expected. Well kept sandy grounds with camp kitchen, original ablutions, large bar and restaurant, free wifi, pitches have electricity, light and braai area. Overland trucks use the site from Thursday till Monday night but place should be large enough to not get affected by that. 85BWP pp (7,50€)
