Report Check-In

No one was there when I arrived (around 4-5pm on a Friday) so camped for free. Really nice forested/grassy area with loads of spots for tents and campfires.

Fire views of Cotopaxi when the clouds break.

Report Check-In

3 dollars for camping, 15 dollars for a dormbed. 6 dollars for lunch (almuerzo), 3 dollars for a plate (plato) which was quite good. No showers, no breakfast. The mainbuiling was closed around 5 or 5:30pm.There was nobody before 8:30am or later. I don’t know how it works if you go for a dorm.

I camped close to the restaurant and toilet. I asked I cut put my tent under the gazebo to protect it for the rain. But that was not aloud. Maybe you should ask…But I used the Gazebo to chill out and parked my bicycle up there.

Report Check-In

Were here in a campervan, cost is 3$ pppn. Includes a hot welcome beverage and wifi.

Report Check-In

Good camping ! 3$ pppn. WC ok. Good Restaurant (dîner with sopa, 2sd and littel sweet) for 6$.

Report Check-In

We stayed in the large parking lot, rather than in the trees, in hopes of better solar conditions. Unfortunately the clouds did not clear for us and we did not see Cotopaxi, but we still enjoyed the drive in and the camping was great! We will be back!

Report Check-In

one of our favourite camp spots in Ecuador! we parked on the grass under the trees with full view of Cotopaxi! later the guard used to move to the parking lot but still lovely views. Only ones there at night except for some roaming wild horses. 3 dollars per person

Report Check-In

We spent three nights, very quiet. we parked in the middle of a small forest and it was magical. The other two days we parked near the cafeteria to be able to use the Wi-Fi that Marco the administrator gave us at no additional cost. the cost is 3 USD per person per night. There are clean toilets. You can fill the camper's water tank. In general, it is a good place, on weekends it is much more busy than on weekdays. Marco's phone number is +593 99 847 5936.

Report Check-In

Spent one night here, really nice place with wild horses. Toilets available nearby.
View is fantastic

Report Check-In

The camping follows the same value: 3USD per person, per night. Admission to the park is free and you must enter before 3pm. The bathrooms, coffee and barbecue are away from the camping area.
_________

Report Check-In

Great place to camp. Get up.early and drive up to the lagoon early. The weather clears up earlier there.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Toilets open, water available, shelter and cooking area available. No one there to collect the fee, restaurant closed, no Wifi. had a safe and quiet night.

Report Check-In

Previous comment is still accurate, but they don't give the WiFi password that easily these days. I ordered something from the restaurant first and then they gave it to me. Stunning views of the Cotopaxi.

Report Check-In

The last entry seems wrong, at this place there are toilets, wifi, a restaurant and a public cooking area. You can choose to camp here or between the trees (other campsite on iOverlander), but you always need to check in and register here first. $3pp for camping (just say you are tent camping even if you sleep in your car). big bundle of firewood for $5. great views of the Cotopaxi.

Report Check-In

Nice view, no facilities, but have to pay 3 dollars pppn. I guess can use the facilities of the hostal where you need to register and pay about 200 meters away. I suggest doing this when you arrive so you don't get bothered later. You get a free tea for the 3 dollars.

Report Check-In

We stayed for one night and paid 3 USD p.P. You get a tea for free. There is a toilet, fire place and sink. Impressive view on the Cotopaxi in the morning.

Report Check-In

Great location. Everything as described. It is cold and with an incredible view if you are lucky.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Nice place to spend the night after hike in snowing to glacier edge. Quite cold, missed the view of Cotopaxi as the clouds prevailed, but had very good diner at the hut. Got soup, meal, desert and juice for $5. Toilets a bit run down (better at park entrance).

Report Check-In

cool place $5 per tent
hot chocolate $2
cool shower
nice view in Cotopaxi when uncovered

Report Check-In

Only place to camp now we were told, great spot and good view of Cotopoxi

Report Check-In

Everything as already described. We had great views of the mountain and used our included bundle of firewood to have a nice little fire while we cooked dinner under the covered porch. Also, the young woman who was tending the place was very kind and makes a great cinnamon hot chocolate for $2.

Report Check-In

as written before. 5 USD per tent, not per person. we also took an almuerzo for 5 USD per person.
very cold water for the shower.

Report Check-In

We stayed in this campground 4 nights: 5$/night included bundle of wood, trash bag and toilet paper. There is a little covered outdoor shelter with a wood fire place and possibility to grill food, a sink and table. Bathrooms with cold shower, cafeteria if you need to buy food, tea, chocolate, snack and a full menu.
They can call transport if you need.
Very nice place to start hikes and enjoy the beautiful view of Cotopaxi.

Report Check-In

We have been here 3 times for free but now you should check in in refugio even if you camp in the forest, and please do it, if they are on site .... as sneak in can work but its not fair and honestly the view here is the best one and you will get a few wood to make a fire and thats nice.

Report Check-In

A splendid campsite. Incredible views of Volcan Cotopaxi. Banos but no other services. $5 for parking, no other fees. Very cold. This site is before the laguna (where there is an easy walk around the laguna). Our exact location was S00.63372, W078.48341

Report Check-In

just as described.
$5 for tent camping
$7 for camper cars

I guess you can get away with simply not registering or tell them you sleep in the tent on your car ;)

Report Check-In

Camped under the pine trees. Free, cold, no views due to fog and clouds 😕

Report Check-In

Hello
Nice place to park your motorhome.
Big rig friendly.
Safe for children.
The girl who work here is friendly.
The price is 7$...for the truck.
You can go to the laguna in one hour (with children )

Report Check-In

Now $7 per car. Unfortunately the other (free) spots in the park don't have a view of Cotopaxi.

Report Check-In

Same as everyone said but now is $5 per car. Would 100% recommend!

Report Check-In

You could camp at the cafe (toilets, shelter) or in the little forest close by. It can be windy and very cold. In the little forest you can find some sheltered places. Unfortunately the toilets are then 5’ walk away. This campsite won’t be for free anymore. They’ll charge 7$ per car.

Report Check-In

official name of campsite is la rinconada.

Report Check-In

Good place for a night (3850m). Toilet and covered picknick spot with dish washing sink. Showers were closed. You can camp next to the facility block, on the open grass below or in a small forest a bit further away. There is also an official camp spot with fireplace (but no facilities) opposite the lagoon on the foot of Cotopaxi, with less fog in the morning. Entrance to NP and camping for free.

Report Check-In

A wonderful place for camping! They have a covered place with sink and barbecue place, with tables and seats, that is really nice if it is raining! There are restrooms and a small restaurant with a fireplace too. The space for camping is huge and wonderful!! With clear skies you have a stunning view of Cotopaxi!! And it’s free!! Highly recommended!!

Report Check-In

The snack shack sells large bags of firewood for $5 (maybe 15-20lbs of dry recycled lumber in a 50kg rice sack).

Report Check-In

A few fire rings in a stand of trees. Beautiful when the mountain is visible, beautiful even when it isn't. Lots of flat area to park. Good for tents, trucks, anything.

Bring fire wood.

Report Check-In

We stay in the little forest and had a great view. What a sunset....

Report Check-In

Awesome spot, nothing further to add

Report Check-In

Beautiful camp - one of our favourites, reminds us of Patagonia somewhere. Bring carbon and meat to grill - loads of firepits around, but no dry wood! For a nice hike head up to the base of Rumiñahui from the parking lot here, the trail isn't marked so you'll probably end up wandering all over the place like us, but it would be hard to get lost - just follow the MapsMe trail. Took us about 5 hours return with lunch at the top. Amazing views over the park to Cotopaxi.

Report Check-In

What an amazing campsite! you can find a spot anywhere in this area so you can get away from people if you want. We were here mid week so had it to ourselves. We managed to find wood for a fire and had some epic views of Cotopaxi! Free! Definitely don't miss a night in this national park.

Report Check-In

Very nice spot with trees and beautiful landscape! For free and an amazing view of Cotopaxi when it's not cloudy. Worth a visit!

Report Check-In

Verry good for a Night, enough Space, Toiletts, small Restaurant, friendly

Report Check-In

We had fantastic weather and views. Great to be in a big open space. Easy to get away from other campers.

Report Check-In

End of road - Parking lot. Great view, close to climbing. very quiet in even ing and night.

Report Check-In

Able to light a fire in the shelter which was great, there are taps but the water was brown to start off with, after a couple of mins it looked ok and we filtered it to make sure - Still alive!
Bring your own toilet paper.

Report Check-In

Great camping area. We stayed near the shelter since it was raining and used the fireplace and sink. Bathrooms were clean but showers are closed. There is some wood around but most of it is wet.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite with shelter and fireplace! It was cold and a bit rainy so we were very happy with that. Bathrooms on site, showers were closed. Beautiful view of the valley and volcano

Report Check-In

Open! Beautiful free campground in the park with plenty of awesome spots in the trees to choose from. Bathrooms are about a 5 min walk from the main camping area. No views of Cotopaxi because it was so foggy - even early in the morning. If you're looking for some hiking, there's a trailhead about a 20 min walk up the service road that's behind the campground. Also, we think a mouse got into our car while we were here so keep your doors shut and don't throw food on the ground around your rig!

Report Check-In

super beautiful camp. We were the only ones camping under the trees and if it wouldn't have rained for days, we'd had a campfire there. if you plan so, bring some dry wood to start with.

Report Check-In

Open! Excellent free camping. Simple restaurant/coffee shop, flushing toilets, cold showers closed, small shelter with table, sink and fireplace. Can park up close to buildings or anywhere on the land around. Small stand of pine trees was our preference. Great spot!

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Really nice campsite, with bathroom. The shower were closed. Shade with BBQ and table. You can find wood uphill, just follow the sendero leaving from the camping. No noise at night!

Report Check-In

A huge space, where you can choose a path that gets you away from other campers. The toilets and kitchen (sink, table and fireplace) are the buildings at the end of the road. You can choose to camp anywhere and there are a few firepits water taps scattered around. Muy tranquil! 3600m up, so it's colder then Quito.

Report Check-In

OPEN and free (cold showers closed) /// If you are not as polylingual as some overlanders pretend to be, a short translation of WOHLFÜHLPLATZ: place of wellbeing

Report Check-In

National Park is fully open with the exception of summiting Cotopaxi.
Free to camp here with water supply. Restaurant/shop is only open on weekends.

Report Check-In

Free camp with toilets. Great view of cotopaxi day n night if no low clouds. You can even build a fire from wood around ( just pick dry ones which are hard to find in rainy season ...we managed after 2 hours a good fire :) super quiet with no sound at all ( hard to find such places) we stayed on a weekday and were on our own except few birds n rabbits

Free. Only 2 toilets available in Men's washroom, but clean.

Report Check-In

Great camping. Lots of green areas for parking. Free. Love how Ecuador is treating turists.

Report Check-In

Nice quiet and treed camp spot with views of Cotapaxi when the clouds disperse. Our camp site was also visited by a grey fox, a deer and some grazing horses. Reminds us of camping in Colorado. Free.

Report Check-In

Beautiful camp ground in Cotopaxi NP. Very quiet during the week and plenty of space. Free. Supposedly pets aren't allowed in the park but we saw people with them. Other campsites nearby here that are a little hidden on the way to lake where friends of ours camped with dogs problem free.

Report Check-In

Big grassy lot with lots of room to choose the perfect spot. When we were there only one toilet was open and the door to the cold showers was locked. Great view of Volcan Cotopaxi. Trailhead to Volcan Ruminahui is just next to the Parking lot.

Report Check-In

Free campsite in the P.N. Cotopaxi. It's a new official camping area with toilet facilities & cold showers. When good wheater you may have a splendid view at the vulcano.
