Description

USD 100 per site. The lower charge of about 30 USD ppn is only for an additional person beyond 2 on a paid site (which had not been understood and respected by some staff members). Views are lovely, ablutions were clean and hot water via donkey (if needed). Lots of wildlife at night in the campsite.

Latest Check-Ins

Extended camp on the Zambezi waterfront (stunning) with lots of space and a fireplace for everyone but no grass. Reasonable ablutions but at 50 USD (plus 20 USD entrance) ppn pricy as always in the parks.

Report Check-In

heaven on earth. nice Camp, nice ablution, Amazing view. Very quiet.

If you come without any booking, remember to ask for the walk-in prices! We paid $30/pppn + $20 conservation fee/$15 for SADCs + $3 vehicle (Nam registered). $70/pppn + conserv.fees+vehicle for Chitake if you book as a walk-in. We were here for 3 days, on sites 6 and 1 (both riverfront sites). Lovely ellies walking past really close. Ablutions pretty derelict, but you pay fo the spot, not for amenities.

We have wanted to visit Mana Pools for a long time and were not disappointed! Yes it's expensive but the campsite pitches on the river are just gorgeous!! Wildlife comes to the camp, hyena, buck, elephants ( very close!) and you hear lions roar all night. We did self game drives and saw 4 lionesses hunting (sadly unsuccessfully) as well as lots of other animals and incredible birds. Facilities are basic but there is constant hot water and flushing toilets. Really felt absorbed in the Bush. There are many campsites along the river we were alone for 1 night and only 2 other vehicles the other nights. 115 USD per campsite per night plus park fees. We can recommend the guided Bush walk at 10 USD per person per hour an incredible and immersive experience.

Report Check-In

There are many campsites along the river. We will recommend 9, 16 or 17. Lovely trees to camp under on the river bank. We were walk in tourists and paid the following: SADEC US50 pppn camping fee + US$15 pppn conservation fee + US$3.00 for our camper foreign registration. We were told the prices are different every month!! This is a steep price! The ablutions are rundown with solar geysers so not always hot water. Only one toilet is working at the ladies side.
Baboons and monkeys keep bothering you and stealing food at every opportunity! So beware!
The sunrise and sunset views over the river and the mountains on the Zambian side were beautiful though!

Nyamepi camp is beautiful after all the rain, yes a little overgrown and grass high, shade is great for camping, ablution block re painted clean and has running water, it now has solar hot water, there aren’t any shower heads but you don’t need them, no complaints whatsoever, 2 weeks before we came everyone told us we were mad as all the park was flooded with only main roads, no point in coming as all game goes inland, road in had a bridge wash away, we drove in road was corrugated but fine, sand road nearer to park was dry and easier going, bridge is being fixed as we speak, but you can drive through lugga as it’s dry, it all seems to be dry so taking a chance coming has paid off
Love Mana Pools, one park on the bucket list
Along with S Luangwa, Tarengire and Ruaha
At this time of year campsites are quiet which is a bonus
Camp 11 is a great spot

Report Check-In

National Parks campsite. Neglected, but the view and abundance of wildlife more than made up for it! Lots of spots along the river. Neglected shared ablutions (flush toilets, cold showers, outdoor spigot). No electricity or Wi-Fi (slow Wi-Fi was available at the park office). When we tried to book ahead of time via Christine of ZimParks, she quoted us $115 per night. If you just show up they charge $23pp per night.

Lots of wildlife in camp! Hippos, elephants, baboons, vervet monkeys, kudu, waterbuck, impala, plenty of birds. Watch your vehicle closely! The monkeys will take anything.

There are also exclusive campsites with no ablutions, just long drop toilet, if you want a private campsite. Game and views seemed just as good at Nyamepi.

Unguided walking safaris allowed here with a permit. Guided walking or personal vehicle safaris $10pp per hour - show up at the park office and ask. Canoe safaris were on hold because canoes were damaged by hippos.

fees for international tourist in jun 2022:
- conservatory : 20 us$/pppn
- campsite : 23 us$/pppn
+ 30 us $ for our car (it is an Camper)

Nice place for the campsite.
but not always hot water in ablutions

Arrived without a booking, turned out to be alone in the entire camp, so we could choose any site. Took #3 which has a beautiful view of the river. Camp is worn down, a couple of dirty ablution blocks with cold shower, a couple of water taps are spread out around the camp. Camping was $23 pp, got the SADC price for conservation fees for some reason. All in all we paid $238for 2 people for 3 nights. But what an amazing park. By far our favorite in Southern Africa

Main public campsite - Mana Pools National Park. The vervets will help you unpack when you arrive and the hyenas will make sure your braai grid is clean after dark.

Report Check-In

Having tried to book online for 4 months without success, we showed up without a booking (having called in to the permit office first). Managed to get SB2 for three nights, after they said the campsite was full. Reality was less than 10 out of the 40 campsites were taken but believe only 4 can be booked when you get there. Braai at each site. Some sites with river view (not SB2 but had more space and shade). Elephants and hyenas walking around the camp. Monkeys can be annoying. Ablutions not great but hot water. Park is amazing, saw wild dogs and lions. You need a free permit to enter the east side of the park which only allows 2 vehicles per day (plus guided safaris). You pay camping and park fees at the MP reception near the camp. $23 USD pppn plus park fees.

Report Check-In

Stayed at SB04, nearest ablutions. SB01 is nicer but not much in it other than some shade. seems like the Zambezi has reclaimed some trees in the shore.

Wild animals including elephants pass through so be careful. Baboons and Vervets are very bold and will enter your car or truck if the door/window is open.

This is the only park in Africa where you are allowed to walk on foot without a guide so don't be the one to ruin it by getting mauled.

You must be in your camp 6pm to 6am (no driving at night) but get up early to game drive first thing. We saw a cheetah doing so. Big rigs should be careful, some tracks are narrow and steep but 4wd low range is no problem.

Report Check-In

We stayed at SB04. Beautiful spot! Don’t know why it’s cheaper than the other sites. Watch out for the hyenas, they ate are flip flops🙈

This place is in wrong location - it is located at -15.71951, 29.36734

Report Check-In

Without a booking there was luckily still space! Campsite was pretty empty but for the SB sites were I had the last one! SADC residents pay a bit less for conservation, 18USD pppn. Pay in bond notes and it is suddenly a whole lot cheaper then in USD!

Report Check-In

Stayed at SB1 ($23pppn and can only be booked on site).
Riverside spot, lots of hippos and a few elephant came through the site.
Firewood $5.

Report Check-In

SB4 equally nice also directly on the water for $23 pppn, also booked on site

Report Check-In

Stunningly beautiful location, on the Zambezi with Zambian mountains on the other side. We had hippo and hyena in camp, plus lots of naughty baboons and vervets - beware!

Braai stand provided per pitch, and shade at some pitches. Non-drinking water available communally but no bins, you must take your rubbish away with you. Ablutions are typically (for ZimParks) rundown and not particularly well-maintained. But overall you have mostly functional flushing toilets and decent cold water showers (no hot water when we were there). Cleaned to an OK standard. Bring your own toilet paper.

Four pitches can be booked at the main reception without a prior reservation. These all cost $23pppn (+ park fees). Very expensive for what you get, but the only way to really see Mana Pools! Two are on the river edge. We stayed at SB4, which was lovely. Nice and flat, but unfortunately no shade. Other pitches need to be booked in advance and have a different pricing (although I’m unsure of exact costs).

Report Check-In

There are a couple of sites on the river where they charge $23,- pppn instead of $115,- per site. With two persons that will be a good option. Stayed at SB-1, which can only be booked on site. Views are lovely, ablutions were clean and hot water via donkey (if needed). Lots of wildlife at night in the campsite.

Report Check-In

Wonderful unfenced camping on the banks of the Zambezi. Have had lions, honey badgers, buffalo, ellies, hippos and hyaena visiting our camps over the years. Water is drinkable but we’ve always carried and drunk our own water. No electricity and no shops. Donkey boilers for hot showers.

Report Check-In

Price is USD 20 per person for place not at Zambezi or USD 100 for site (up to 6 people) at Zambezi. Super place with view of hippos, elephants and other animals at the Zambezi and Zambia across the river.

Report Check-In

Simple camping at Nyamepi , but has water, donkey showers and flush toilets.
