Something not right?

Description

Great location, fantastic facilities with friendly Aussie owners Lynita & Alan. Safari tents available and swimming pool. (1,000 shillings pppn)

There is very limited space for overlanders, more than 2 cars should call ahead and prepare to stay in the car park.

July 2015 - word of warning, if you put money in the safes in the tents check the amounts on a daily basis. While we were there 2 guests had over $1000 'skimmed' from bundles in their safes. The manager could not care less and even obstructed attempts to report the theft to police. Ordinarily they may not have noticed any was missing until well away from the lodge.

This is like camping in someone’s garden, beautifully grassed, well maintained camp site. Even had the call of lion and hyenas!!

Report Check-In

very pleasant camp that I visited already over many years in the past years. Friendly and helpful staff and delicious food.

Report Check-In

We came to check but camping with own tent is 1650 KES ppn including (mandatory) breakfast. Karen Camp and Jungle Jungle are mich cheaper.

Report Check-In

Small but we'll maintained campsite.
Price 1250 per person for camping including breakfast, although the breakfast is very small.
1000 per day for electricity.
Unfortunately the management turned very unfriendly when we asked for a discount for electricity. Considering the fact that we brought 5 additional guests who stayed in fixed tents for 6500 shilling and we planned on spending 3 nights this was very peculiar.

Amazing place, lovely green garden and very quiet. Enough space for camping and cars, but no big rigs. 1250ksh inc good breakfast. Hot showers and laundry service all available.

We returned to Wilderbeest two times during our stay in Kenya as we preferred this camp to Karen Camp. Price includes breakfast and the WiFi is surprisingly fast.

Report Check-In

This place isn't really overlander friendly at all. They have a small, uneven area under a tree big enough for about 2 large vehicles far away from ablutions but next to reception. Big rigs must park in the car park even though they fit in the camping area.

The pool looks really nice but what let this place down was the staff. When we arrived the gate was open, nobody on security, nobody at reception, no staff in sight. After 5 min the security guard arrived and tried to tell me how to drive, then the reception staff arrived and told me we couldn't park on the grass because we are too heavy. The grass is yellow and dry and the ground is rock hard. The 'manager' refused to let us camp, refused to talk to us, and staff kept changing their reasons.

Come here if you are backpacking but the real overlander place in Nairobi is Jungle Junction.

Very nice place, in one of the nicest suburbs of Nairobi, lots of shade and chill out areas. Bar is nice and good WiFi! We paid 1000KSH per person. Nothing else to add from the other comments.

Report Check-In

In my opinion the previous comments are a bit exacterating. Yes the layout of the place is a beautiful lush garden, very well thought out, nice pool area and restaurant with deck overlooking a pond. And seen you are in Nairobi, special indeed. But it feels to me that they just try to make extra money by allowing people to camp. You have to use the ablutions of their tented camp which is far away, there is no tap, no washing up facilities. They charge 10 USD pp and if you want electricity another 10 USD per day. But on site it doesn't work so than they have to lay a cable from reception. Missing personal touch, staff seemed uninterested.

Report Check-In

Very nice tented camp! Luxury feel, very nice grass. You can put your own tent up for 1000ksh pp, 1250 incl breakfast. Ablutions are good, shower is solar and it was hot at night. We arrived late so we did not swim but the pool area looks very good (see picture). If you don’t have to arrange anything and just want some time to relax I would choose this campsite over JJs.

Report Check-In

What a beautifull campsite! Nice swimming pool, hot showers, table tennis, volleybal, cozy deck where you can sit. You feel like you are somewhere in a kind of forest in stead of in the big city.
Also stayed at JJ but liked this place a lot better!!

Report Check-In

Nice grass for camping and ablutions! Showers warm in the evening, due to solar. Now 1250kes pppn including small breakfast or 1000kes without breakfast.

Restaurant is not so great! Overcooked burgers and very greassy chips, potato and leek soup was tasteless and lumpy. Only the carrot and ginger soup was nice.

Would go back, but cook myself or go out for dinner.

Report Check-In

Great quiet location with a few grassy shady spots to camp. All facilities look great (including the pool that is now finished).

Report Check-In

If using the tent safes, be sure to count your money daily. While I was there 2 guests had a significant amount stolen from their safes. Furthermore, the manager couldn't have been more obstructive and obnoxious. Further advice, opt for the rooms as the tents are insecure and unlockable

Report Check-In

We fully agree to comment 1. But be aware: between the lodges is only a small grassy area for camping, max. 4 cars. 1000 KES pp including breakfast.

Report Check-In

The best place to camp in Nairobi by far! Great safe location, fantastic facilities with friendly Aussie owners Lynita & Alan. New pool being installed soon. (1,000 shillings p/p)
