Latest Check-Ins

As described before. New ablutions are fine and there are braai places and dish-washing sinks. Was a cold evening so fire pit was great.
Coffee shop was very nice. expensive but there are no other options around.
overall, goid for 1 night if doing at least 1 hike because camping fee was $15.
The Canopy Toyr is lovely, but quite a steep walk back uphill.

Report Check-In

The bathrooms are complete and you now have access to really hot showers which is great. The campsite is beautiful with a firepit overlooking the valley. The staff are also super eager to help. We did the 8 hour hike, slept over and did another hike the next day. Our experience is a bit different from the previous check-in. They only charged us one day park entry fee because we slept over, even though we spent 2 days hiking.

Report Check-In

We camped here for 2 nights in our car with a rooftop tent. Bathrooms have been built, but it dioes not work 100% yet. There is a small restaurant now. The view of the forest from the campsite is breathtaking. When hiking you experience a pristine rainforest. The setup is well run ‐ you can book and pay for everything here by credit card. Our only gripe is the cost - you pay daily park fees per person, camping fees and the comp
ulsory guide when you go hiking.

Report Check-In

Really beautiful campsite. Everything's new with clean toilets, showers, dishwashing facilities, firewood place and even lockers. Price is 15 dollar per tent/RTT. You can only camp here when you have a negative covid rapid test and when you've paid the entrance fee for the park (which is sadly since the beginning of 2023 100 dollars, this includes a nature walk, excluding guide (15/25 half/full day).

Report Check-In

We camper here with RTT next to the wooden structures for tents. Very quiet during the night.

Report Check-In

They are currently building a little coffeeshop. Beautiful spot but only available for ground tents. Rooftop tents can only park in de parking lot (sad, because it’s a beautiful place)
Would wait untill they are finished with building though… it’s meant to be done end of may 2022. So keep it in mind.
FYI the chimpanzee track does not start here. All other tracks and hikes do.

Report Check-In

Very expensive for what it is. There is no shop or restaurant at this place, so bring your own (drinking) water and food.

Report Check-In

For an easy start of the Chimpanzee tracking this is perfect, it’s next to the ranger house for campervans or cars but they are friendly and the little platform just below the electrical mast makes for a perfect in the forest sitting area with a view with your own chairs. If you have a small tent the platforms build in the forest down the path are beautiful. Ask at the kiosk for hot water for a shower!

Report Check-In

$30 for two people in Camping car.
Very expensive and no worth the money. Tried to negotiate but it’s a fixed price. No running water, they do fill a bucket of hot brown water for you tho, reasonably flat grassy area (as we parked next to the researchers house.)
Very quiet and the stars are amazing a night. Unfortunately no view of the mountains as there’s dense bush.
Think it Would be better for tents as they have built two wooden decks with a fire pit in the middle.
Better to just drive here early in the Morning (need to be here for 8:30 to start the hikes) do your hike then stay at one of the towns on the outskirts of the park.

Report Check-In

Nice camp, it’s tight for RTT (Toyota Hilux) and we luckily found a decent flat spot. Ext to the covered terraces. Only bucket showers but were given plenty of hot water. WiFi by the reception. We trekked the chimps from here so didn’t need to drive anywhere. It’s a great spot in the centre of the forest. We paid $15 pppn NB. The drive down to the camp is steep and in some disrepair. It would not be suitable for all overlanders including big rigs.

Report Check-In

as mentioned below camping is expensive 36500 franks per tent sleep 2. If you have your own tent I got 10000 off. very nice wooden decks to put them on. still no water in taps but large bucket to flush toilet. must do the canopy walk lovely high walkways in the forest a bit scary 😉 but very expensive at 60$

Report Check-In

Generally as described by others. We had one clean toilet and one shower room available (for 8 campers to share), but no water in either! They brought us buckets of cold water to wash with. No discount for this (despite asking), so overall rather expensive for what you get.
No real views from here as the trees have grown up over the viewpoints. Hikes are expensive but guides seem to be very well trained and knowledgeable. All staff are friendly and helpful.
L’Hoest monkeys came through camp, which was a real treat!

Report Check-In

Not really big rig friendly as the grass area at the campsite is too small to turn in and the flat area above is used for parking local vehicles so the only area really available is the carpark on the public road outside (steep hill, trucks all night) - for which they insist on charging $30pn for 2 pax!
Food in the canteen is very good though!
Overpriced activities.

Report Check-In

$30 per tent. There is some space to park and set up a rooftent but it's really better to have a ground tent and pitch it on their beautiful covered tent platforms down in the rainforest. Unfortunately they were quoting prices in USD and then charging a blatantly unfair exchange rate (much higher than the park service charges for the hikes). The toilet at the tent platforms didn't flush and was disgusting. The hikes start below the tent platforms and there's a map.

Report Check-In

Beautiful recovering rainforest; nice remote grassy flat site for roof top tent, ablution a bit far cold water. Hikes are brilliant with very competent guides. No entry fee, $30 camping per site, $40pp hiking, $60pp if hiking canopy trail, $90pp Chimp hikes.

Report Check-In

In the midst the rain forest, but only 200 m from the main road, constructions completed, nice covered terrace with view to Lake Kivu, firewood provided, 30 USD per car (2 persons) pn if you book a guided tour (camping is more expensive, if you don't book a tour)

Report Check-In

In forest next to reception center. View obscured by buildings under construction and building material. Firewood provided.
