Place deleted because it does not meet iOverlander criteria:
at 1am we got woken up by the managers who kindly warned us that while they are fine with overnight parking the police are not and come every night between 2-3am to give out fines. Apparently this is the same for the whole of the Clatsop County. Rest area 15 minutes up the road in Washington worked out perfectly as a last minute alternative.

Latest Check-Ins

Parking overnight is not allowed by Walmart

Report Check-In

Spent the night there on 11/21/2023.
No problem; nobody bothered us
We're in a Revel Van

Report Check-In

FYI Walmart is private property and the police have no jurisdiction unless called for assistance. Someone telling stories.

Report Check-In

I wonder how police can come onto private property and harass customers? I don’t think they have jurisdiction unless the property owner requests them

Report Check-In

No issues, a little noisy. Showed up and there were about 4 RV’s and 3 vans.

Report Check-In

I ended up staying here the other night. Pulled in and there were about 40 RV’s & vans. There are signs saying “no overnight parking” so I asked an employee and they said Walmart doesn’t care, but the police may tell you to leave in the middle of the night. I called the police department asking if it was okay for me to stay at Walmart because it was so late and had been driving all day. He said technically in Astoria you aren’t allowed to overnight park in just about everywhere, but he also said I am not going to go down there and knock on everyone’s door and tell them to leave and said I would be safe there tonight. So basically I would park at your own risk and wouldn’t stay more then 1 night.

Report Check-In

I took a chance parking here last night cause there were 10-15 other RV's and vans here already. Maybe the cops have stopped chasing people out. The "no overnight parking" signs are still up but many Walmarts do that just to comply with city code. I wasn't bugged at all by employees or police.

Report Check-In

Saw an RV and a van around 8pm who looked to be planning on staying the night but I did not stay to find out if it's okay.
