Something not right?

Description

Very basic campsite with power hook up and water.
Water from taps are not drinkable.
Ablutions are disgusting and staff are not capable of doing their cleaning up job properly, ablutions are full of cob qebs and the very run down, also stinks as stuff use showers.
they have basic chalets but for the price would rather go to lake safari or kariba inns.
fishing boats are close so will keep you awake at alnight

Latest Check-Ins

Direct at the lake, nice pool, beautiful beach bar. 7.5$ pppn off season price. Electricity, water and Braai at site. Grassy pitches. Ablutions working well, lots of insects as it's open and bushish. No toilet paper. Friendly German manager with lots of knowledge about the region. You could do a work away here if you want to stay longer and cheaper.
Chalets are 750pn in low season.
Road from Lusaka is good, only a few potholes and be aware of police speed checks!
Don't miss a short visit to the dam, it's impressive.

Report Check-In

Great view over the lake!
Camping on a little hill next to the water
Tom the owner is very friendly and knows everything needed.
Food was very good as well
Restaurant Closed Monday and Tuesday
I will come again

Must say up front that the previous description of a shithole is inappropriate. The approach road is difficult, ( 4x4) preferred, The ablutions are OK, clean and well maintained. The camp sites are great- wonderful views over the lake, brai sites , electric, water (non potable) and free wood provided. Beach, playground and pool on site. $10pppn.

Report Check-In

The campsites are ok.
They have a number of chalets
Good basic wild restaurant and well stocked bar.
Toilets are ok'ish but showers could do with a revamp.
Now kw 200 a night
Fishing rigs will keep you awake and they can be close by at times, it depends
Locals seem to have free will to walk past, advise to put things away if you are not with your goods as I had two items stolen, 2 plastic containers so a minor issue....

Beautiful place as described. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice bar/restaurant. Got some nice hippo viewing as well.
Price is now up to 200 K pppn. For that price I would expect a little better maintenance, like bathrooms with toilet seats, toilet paper, showers which drain especially since there was no place to hang clothes and keep them dry from the rising waters, plus it turns it into a mosquito breeding ground and we got 30 bites while showering.
Small things, but is this turning into another overpriced deteriorating place, so common in Africa?

Very nice place ! Beautiful view of the lake, nice camping area, clean and functional ablutions. The manager is also very friendly. Big clean pool and kids playground, very family friendly !

Report Check-In

It has a nice vibe. Didn’t stay at the campsite because of all the rain (and the loud fishing boats at night) but the chalets are ok for that price and the beach bar is cute. Nice spot for 1 night, but there aren’t any activities to do or see…
Wifi only at the reception.
Pool is clean.

Beautiful campsite on Lake Kariba for 150k pppn. Well worth the money. View is great, has the amenities described by other travellers. Bar on the beach is great for a sundowner (only open Fri, Sat, Sun during covid times), same applies with the restaurant... Worth a visit. We may stay longer

Stayed in a chalet. They had a great special on. 1800kw for 3 nights so we took a break from our tents. It's not the most glamorous accommodation but everything works and is clean. This a wonderful place if have kids. The campsite has a beautiful view over the lake.

We camped 2 nights at Eagles rest. beautiful views of Lake Kariba. Tom the manager was very friendly and welcoming. looks like he is doing a lot to upgrade all the campsites. we bought some delicious meat from him too. There wasn't much pressure in the showers and there was a lot of noise at night from the kapenta fishing boats at night. I advise arriving while there is still lights as the roads can get a bit tricky at night.

Spent two nights here. Fantastic setting and nice bar didn’t try the restaurant. Showers could do with a dusting and a little de-spidering! But clean. Hot showers flush toilets. Hook up at site. Kwch 125pppn. Really good value. They have chalets too.

A really nice campground with grass direct at the lake. You can have some small walking tours around. We managed it with our big rig (18 t) to the first campground although it was a bit narrow, but no problem. We were alone, because of the „Corona time“.

Report Check-In

Lovely campsite, as previously stated in the other comments. Clean ablutions/wash up area both with hot water.

Each campsite has its own fire pit. Electricity is also available (from most, if not all sites). To ensure good water pressure at the ablutions, check that the water pump is turned on ; ) .

Staff and manager are incredibly friendly and welcoming. We saw crocs around as well. Worth the stop!

Very pleasant four days spent here camping on the edge of the Zambezi. Pleasant welcome. Good food (meal with a beer K150). Nice camp spots. We just managed to get our 12 tonne truck in. K100 pppn.

HOT DIGGITY! What a beautiful place to camp!
We had the entire campsite to ourselves and it was truly magical.
Cool bar with great staff and a lovely place to have a drink and some food.

Ablutions however were pretty gross and you didn’t want to be in there for longer than absolutely necessary!

This campsite is in a fantastic location being right on the shore of Lake Kariba with beautiful views! ZMK100pppn and children under 16 are free. The campsite has green grass and the ablutions have been recently renovated and are luxury and full of character for camping standards. There are braai spots and a beach bar area and a restaurant with a swimming pool. There is a hiking trail as well as a childrens play area. Lodge accommodation sleeps up to 4 persons at between ZMK750 and ZMK850 per night depending on the number of people. Sometimes there are mid week specials which are 50% off the lodge price. Friendly, warm and hospitable hosts. Highly recommended!

Very nice spot for a campsite at the edge of the lake with a wonderful view and sunrise. Very friendly staff and Tom is a great host. Also the bar is well situated for a couple of beers.

ZMW100 ppn (we had no reservation and were the only ones on the campsite). Clean ablutions. Firewood (ZMW10). During the night a bit noisy due to the fishing trawlers out on the lake (the only minus point).

Report Check-In

100 pppn. Very nice spot with a view. Cold beers sold from the restaurant.

We stay here 5 nights. Very nice view of the Lake Hariba. Tom and his staff very friendly and helpfull. Quiet place in the day. Your can hear some boats fishing in the night, but it’s ok. Tom tru to change this place un a good way (renovation in kitchen and ablutions area). Possibility to make a boat tour with Tom (10 pers and more). Good place to take time for relaxing and visit the village of Siavonga for shopping (40 mn walk + boat). I recommend this place definitively. Mireille & Stephane

Good place, good restaurant, good wifi, friendly staff. Not easy to find a horizontal place for the camper, but we found one and the staff is working to improve it.

Under new management. Tom, the boss, is an ex-overlander truck driver. Very experienced. Tom is well on the way to turning this place into a very special place to stay. I cannot fault the place. Track to camp is fine for big rigs.

All has been described earlier and is still correct. It is a very warm and humid place in November.

Stayed 5 months at Eagle's while working on the dam wall. Amazing place, chill out, the bar on the beach is a must see in Siavonga!! It also happen to be the only Camping in Siavonga, I'm sure the prices are listed by someone else, but the place is stunning!
Say hello to Karen and Peter :)

As described in the previous post. Toilets and Showers still a bit dodgy. Showers could definitely use a bit of new paint and curtains or throughout scrubbing of the walls and ledges.
Electric plugs on site did not work, for me only the one in the ladies.
KW 80 pp
Water comes out of the lake.
Otherwise a nice place to relax a few days.

Report Check-In

Shady and grassy sites with electricity. Showers seem to have been upgraded compared to previous reviews. Still not fancy but hot and with good pressure. Lovely spot. Pity about the five motorised fishing boats that run up and down the bay all night. School trip arrived on our second day there and we were glad to be leaving the dah after as they took up the pool and beach and were loud and messy.

Report Check-In

Nice spot on lake side. Green shady campsites. Nice beach bar and restaurant, yummy food and cold beers. Zkw50pppn. WiFi is slow and pricey, Zkw100 per 1GB. Mobile signal works well though. Friendly owners. Watch out for hippos and crocodiles!

Report Check-In

Nice camp with great pool and beach volleyball. Lots of green and shade and we had 3 hippos just in front of the camp. Was great. The Bar is super relaxed. I truly enjoyed Siavonga, the village. We were stunned by the friendly locals and the kids were super excited.

Report Check-In

Lovely site, the campsite is nice and grassy, lots of space. The facilities are tired, and the water words sporadically. The bar is reasonably priced, the wifi is very expensive. 100kwz
