Description

Really nice lodge and good campsite. Good clean ablution facilities. Shared standpipe and fire pit. When we were there we had an issue with a flycamp and overflow staff quarters. Good service recovery by owner though. Also offer to put food/bricks in freezer. Cost:US$10

Latest Check-Ins

There is no campsites anymore, if you want to camp, you must pay for full board at $50 per person. We arrived late the evening after a horrible gravel road and they were not willing to accommodate us in any way

Great destination! The campsite (away from the river) has grass, shade, wifi and clean ablutions (cold showers). The restaurant overlooks the Nile and serves very good food. Wine is at reasonable prices. There is a pool. The lodge is a base for park and river tours. One of the best in E. Africa. I paid US$50 for camping and full board (breakfast/lunch/dinner).

Still 50,- USD full board. No other option, which is stupid. Way over the top for what you get. Campsite with no view, shower cold, no electricity. WiFi only at the pool bar which is far from the camp. Didn’t stayed and wildcamped at the Nile.

Nice Lodge with camping available.
Each campsite has a braai area, covered area and nice shady grass.

We paid USD$35 pppn but this was a Covid special and included full board, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Well worth the price.

The lodge also assist in organising activities on the park and transport to the park.

Park for a South African is very expensive though! USD 20 pppd for park entrance, USD 150 for a single entry for our SA registered 4x4.

Good game viewing on the northern side of the park and reasonable rover cruises.

Called ahead to ask about camping. Price is still $50 pp full board absolutely crazy price. Don’t think they are interested in campers. Price is not negotiable.

Report Check-In

I would advise that you book a campsite ahead of time as they were fully booked

Now 50$ pp camping incl. 3 meals. First didn‘t want to let us in because we didn‘t have a booking, although camping was basically empty. Might want to book first.

Lovely camp. The actual campsite doesn’t have views of the river, but the restaurant and pool area do.

Second all that's been said - really lovely spot. Very clean campsite with lots of shade and lovely ablutions. They provide each site with a paraffin lamp and there are two shared fire pits and BBQ/cooking areas. Facilities all around the lodge are lovely as described and the free tea and coffee and biscuits at 4 applies to campers too! Plus free tea and coffee in the morning at the restaurant. Was $15pp but would highly recommend for some luxury. Max 20min drive to Paara. Decent wifi around but zero phone signal.

We also drove here from Hoima on the Butiaba road which we'd heard real scare stories about in terms of how long it would take (people said we should go via Masindi instead). Can't speak for when it's been loads of rain but for us it was totally fine. They're doing loads of road building but apart from the obligatory flag wavers we made really good time. According to the hotel the final stretch to them can be a real nightmare post heavy rain so if you want to play it safe maybe call ahead!

Incredible campsite and location for $15 per person. Honestly I would look no further!

The lodge is stunning with a great riverfront location. The entire lodge was perfectly planned and built. The campsite has shaded area for cooking as well as a fire pit and picnic tables. The bathrooms are spotless and beautifully designed. At night someone brought us firewood and as we were cooking a hippo decided he wanted to join us for dinner and was roaming around the campsite.

At one point he got within 5 meters of our car, which was an incredible site to watch from our rooftop tent as he ate the grass around our defender.

The lodge also as a nice restaurant where we decided to get lunch. They had a set lunch menu which also included dessert for $10 per person. The icing on the cake for this lodge is the pool, which is worth $15 on its own to use after a long days drive.

Once we arrived the staff helped us book a river cruise to the falls with Wild frontiers which was more like a safari by boat with the bonus of seeing the Murchison Falls. Highly reccommend. The cruise was $32 per person with an additional $16 per person if you would like them to pick you up and bring you back to the lodge's getty as opposed to getting a car to getty located in the park. (Note that if you want to do the Cruise you will need to get your park entrance tickets ahead of time. You can get there from the Park gate which is a 3 min drive from the Lodge. The park entrance was $40 per person for 24 hours and you have the option to pay by card.)

Excellent campsite and lodge! We paid 15usd pppn. More expensive than the neighboring shoebill campsite but definitely worth it for the toilets and showers are superb! They are clean and spacious. The toilets flush and the showers are more than a trickle. Supposedly no hot water but my showers were always warm from the sun I suppose.
The campsite offers areas for preparing food and bbq. Plenty of waste bins all around and the grounds are kept very clean. Parrafin lanterns light the path in the evening and someone will escort you back to you tent or cabin.
Excellent meals at both the restaurant at the lodge and the kiosk at the campsite. Beer was always cold! Swimming pool has a nice set up were one can spend a few hours relaxing in the afternoon.
Great views of The Nile from the bar and dining area.
Good wifi.
Very helpful and attentive staff!

We are camping here for 45 usd pppn incl full board. Nice campsite with shade, clean spacious toilets and cold showers. Each toilet flushes and each door closes! A cooking and BBQ area provided. A small bar with some food available at the campground including recharging facility for phones etc. Very nice setup with nice touches to make it more inviting. All campers can use the pool which has shade cover and relaxing seating area with bar. Dining area has views to the Nile and provides different areas to enjoy the peace - 2 round fire pits, hammocks, and viewing platform. Tea time between 4-6 with homemade biscuits! Lovely grounds and friendly staff. Lodge is outside of NP so park permit is not required to stay here provided you access the lodge from Lake Albert side.
