Description

We pulled in on a Friday and they set us up with power by the gate. Charged $6 pp. BTW we saw an ATM in the village on way here. Good Claro reception. Pool not open and looked like it hadn't been in a while. Banos clean with TP and seats; there is an outdoor shower on the beach side of bar and an inside one by the banos that you have to ask for the key from bartender to use. Friendly staff.

Spoke to Erica, the manager, she told the price per night is 345 cordoba (around 10$), good wifi, electricity, showers and wc, potable water. Music stops at 9pm but there is still loud music around. If you look for a quiet place, I do not recommend Las Peñitas.

Un petit hotel sympa avec une terasse pour le couche du soleil mais un peu cher pour dormir avec son van sur le parking 15 dollars. Bonne wifi

We asked if it was possibly to camp. Lady behind the bar said it'd cost us $17 per night with electricity. We didn't stay there as it was the weekend and the place would get very busy and also camping in a roof top tent in a car park is not for us, it just wasn't very nice. The bar itself looks alright, lots of people having a drink and watching the sunset.

One of my favorite spots in Nicaragua. Beautiful beachfront hostel and hotel. Restaurant y bar on site with very good food. Surfboards available (good surfing ) outdoor shower from the beach. Clean bathrooms and showers, next to a very big, nice patio. Wifi is fast and reliable. We camped in the small parking lot, with a sharp entry way which is gated with a security guard. Dont know the prices for the rooms but we paid $20 for the night ( if i remember ) 5 people. Might meet other overlanders here ( we did ) Definetly recommend! Leon is a definite spot to see , really pretty ! ( picture is basillica in Leon )

PROS: a few steps to the beach, clean bathrooms and shower, convenient walk to bars and restaurants, electric hookup, security guard, free wifi – CONS: restaurant food is expensive (try the Lazy Turtle instead), parking lot was a dustbowl when the wind picked up – 10 USD/night – NOTE: Despite the security guard, our cooler was stolen from right outside our truck. Also, in the 5 nights we stayed there we saw the manager (1) throw a table at a stray dog and (2) chase a stray dog down the street wielding a bull-whip.

Camped in parking lot of hotel/restaurant Playa Roca. Clean bathrooms, outside cold water shower, wifi that never worked for 40C, parking lot gate closed at night.
