Description

A beautiful free place to camp south of Drake Bay near the Corcovado. Scarlet macaws everywhere, an amazing beach and not a person in sight. River crossings and bad roads, 4x4 required. Pack your trash out. Camping on the grass in front of the house, next to the soccer field. Can use the covered shelter for cooking. Do not camp on the soccer field or beach, the tide is high, and low areas will flood if it rains. Freshwater hose and open shower on the beach. Bathrooms in the school you can use if you ask for a key. A lodge with a bar and restaurant 500m down the beach will also let you use their showers and bathrooms.

Latest Check-Ins

end of the road is blocked off, very busy with local fisherman and others. no camping available unless you leave your vehicle and hike somewhere. wouldn't recommend.

Report Check-In

Parked at the end if the road (blocked by small concrete pillars) with only a grass football field between us and the beach. Asked both the naighbor and the school teacher (on the other side) and both said it was alright to camp here. Road out requires high clearance and there are several river crossings... If there is a big storm while you are there prepare to wait hours/days for the rivers to drain...

Report Check-In

Had to ask permission to drive across some dudes land because otherwise there is no beach access for those with campers. We paid him but he didn't seem happy about it. If you can manage it, this beach is stunning. Scarlet Macaws everywhere. However we were plagued by blighting gnats. The bugs were so bad we had to sleep with all windows closed and they still got in and bit us all night.
