Latest Check-Ins

This place is perfect for tourists on a budget, but not cheap, a room costs $40 dollars with AC. Parking a medium size RV overnight, costs $10 per night. Not bad since it includes clean showers and toilets with TP. You may use the facilities to seat around, or hang a hammock.
Drawbacks; The food at the restaurant is pretty awful, and noise from big rigs coming down the bridge is pretty loud, and it happens all through the night !

Report Check-In

we spent 1 night in a tent here. everyone was friendly and felt safe. However the noise from the trucks made it impossible to sleep

Report Check-In

We didn’t slept here because there was too much noise from the road and the night club at front. RAM Marine is much better for sleeping but this is a good and cheap option to leave your car parked if you want to go to Livingston ($25q). The public boat can pick you up here (they can help you to book it)

Report Check-In

Great place. We park our car for 50 quetzal and we slept inside. Down some trees. Clean bathrooms and hot showers. Regular wifi. There is a restaurant where you can have breakfast with coffee fruit and toast for 25 qt and generous plates for dinner for 60 qt. You can also go outside to buy food or beer if you want. At the entrance of brunos there is a kiosco.
If you go for a night to livingston or any other place, it's 25 qt to leave the car there. Really safe and quiet. If you want a share room is 50 qt the bed.

Report Check-In

Big room, A/C, pool, bar, restaurant, beautiful view of Rio Dulces, marina setting, very nice. 85$ US for the 10 of us. Not bad. A haven away from us he hubbub of the local village. Quiet. Big rig friendly.

Report Check-In

They asked for 100 GTQ, after a little discussion we payed 75 GTQ. Only 5 min walk to the boots to Livingston.

Report Check-In

We pulled in and were asked for 65. Wouldnt budge even when we mentioned prices on here. You're literally parking in the centre court of a hotel in a busy parking, not the kind of place you can cook or anything. Didn't see the appeal so left for the Marina for a much more peaceful night.

Report Check-In

Busy and noisy during the day but it quietens down at night. Ok place if you like being in the middle of things! 50q per truck for camping (without electricity), 25q per night parking-up while we went to Livingston. Electric is either 25q to plug in overnight, or if you just want to do a quick recharge of batteries, you can ask to plug in to their metered plug for 3q per kWh. We took less than 1kw to recharge, so very cheap.

Report Check-In

Very beautiful restaurant/bar at the water. Paid Q25 for parking and sleeping in my car.
Some mosquitoes and unfortunately the car park doesn’t get much wind, so it was pretty hot!

Report Check-In

Great place to stay in Rio Dulce. Right in the heart of the town. Noise all around which justs adds to the flavour.

Report Check-In

For us, this place has everything we could ask for: really strong hot showers, clean bathrooms, secure parking (guard stays overnight). Pretty good WiFi at the bar, which has tons of electrical outlets to charge laptops, etc. The food at bar is pretty good and reasonable, especially daily special for 35 Q. Expats (boat owners) come here for happy hour. There is an expat community based in Rio Dulce, they were having a "swap meet" on the Sunday we were there at the restaurant, selling some things that could be useful to overlanders too! (They post more of the area's events on riodulcechisme.com). We heard music on Saturday night, but it wasn't that loud. Overall, great value: 50/nite without elec, 75 with elec, 25 to leave your car for the night (we did this when we took boat to Livingston)

Report Check-In

Asking 75q so I went back to Ram marina which is nice and quiet for the same price.

Report Check-In

Parked our truck here while we stayed at Finca Tatin down river about 40 min. Note no dogs allowed in rooms but around restaurant and property is fine. Pool open and looked clean. Restaurant food pretty good.

Report Check-In

Parking Lot Camping. Not nice but ok. 5min to city center. WiFi is ok but not very fast. Not very quiet at night. Bathrooms are nice and clean. Restaurant nearby. Paid 50 for 2 persons in a camper.

Report Check-In

We parked here our big rig 7 nights ( 50 qtz per night) and went sailing with friends. Take care for the heights of the bridge near the entrance but we managed it with our 12 Ft height clearance.
Nice swimming pool. Complete meal at restaurant for 40 qtz ppers.

Report Check-In

Avoid on weekends or possibly always if you want to sleep!!! It does have a nice pool with a beautiful view and pretty decent showers but none of that makes up for the 3 bars with blaring music all seemingly competing to be the loudest until late into the night. If it wasn't dark out and there were other options we would've definitely left. It might just be this way on weekends (it was a Saturday night), as I'm surprised no one else has commented on the bar music. The hotel's Resturaunt music and bridge traffic was null compared to the club/bar music. We paid 75 qt for 2 people and a dog.

Report Check-In

Scruffy parking lot did the trick for a couple nights.
Bridge noise inevitable.
Paid 75q for 2 people with electricity. Food in bar was ok. Pool is being redone and currently closed.
Good location to organize a launch down the river. Juan from Bruno's can coordinate. We paid 600 q for a full day down the river to Livingston and back. You can put multiple people on the launch for that price and stay out as long as you like.

Report Check-In

We just had a look at Bruno's, everything is a bit run down. Pool was dirty. We went to the beautiful place of Marine Mar Yacht Club. For more information read there.

Report Check-In

Overnight parking in the parking lot at the bar. Unfortunately wifi reception is really bad on the parking lot, even at the closest spot to the bar it was very spotty and we couldn't get connected with our laptop. Nice bathrooms. Quite noisy during the night. Paid 75 quetzal.

Report Check-In

We are a 26' rig and we fit. no height issues either but much longer may have issues depending how full the lot is. Nice pool, Wi-Fi spotty but good when it works, Tigo cell great. Pd 100q for 2 people with electricity. Power for whole town was out when we got here but came back in about an hour then was out the entire 2nd night after a storm. It is noisy with bridge traffic but with our AC on we hardly heard it at night.

Report Check-In

75Q for a truck camper. No eléctricity, use of bathrooms, showers, pool and the wifi didn't work while we were here, but we were able to use the shacks's password.

Report Check-In

Paid 25qtz per car per night. Good showers and bathroom. You park under the trees so most of the day it's in a shade. Be prepared for hot nights and mornings, wind usually pick up around noon to bring at least some air movement.

Report Check-In

50Q/night. you can camp in the parking lot. nice atmosphere at the bar. pool available. very nice (hot!) showers and toilets. not too loud at night. decent wifi at the restaurant and pool area.

Report Check-In

You can camp at parking lot for 50 Quetzales per vehicle without electricity and 100 with electricity. We first decided to rent a dorm room with bunk beds for 50 Quetzales per person. It seemed like a good idea as we were 4 people in two cars. We noticed that the beds were full of ants due to the humidity so at the end we decided to return our keys and camp in our trucks. Asked to be refunded 100 Quetzales. Did not get our money back. Cold showers in room. Nice hang out area by the restaurant and pool. Laundry available. You can take a boat to Livingston from the hotel's dock.

Report Check-In

Pretty crappy but unfortunately there really aren't any other options in this area. It was super loud at night and is essentially just a really ugly parking lot. Nothing special. 50q per car. Wifi, bathrooms, showers, and another 50q if you want electricity.

Report Check-In

Nous avons dormi une nuit et laissé le vehicule une autre nuit pour aller à Levingston. 75Q la nuit plus 25Q si vous prenez l'électricité. 25Q le gardiennage si vous allez à Levingston. A côté du centre village et du port.

Report Check-In

Very friendly and secure . Good place to base for a trip down the river to Livingston. Laundry, hot showers,WiFi,good food and a great happy hour

Report Check-In

Camping in hotel parking lot with use of very clean flush toilets & showers. We paid 75Q with electrical plug-in. Fast WiFi available at the restaurant/bar. A quiet night.
Coming from the south, take an immediate left after coming over the bridge into town. Under the bridge, take your first left and enter the red/brown colored gate.

Report Check-In

Okay but the Trucks were a real pain. We paid 75Q. Wifi only at Bar&pool.

Report Check-In

Nice hotel by Marina. We slept in our camper for 50 q/vehicle. Clean bathrooms and shower. Swimming pool. Single room for my mother (visiting) 200 q/night. To get there turn left after the bridge and go under it.

Report Check-In

We did not stay had a few beers and a meal to much air brake noise and seems like a lot of foot trafic we located a nice looking place in San Felipe 4 km down the road just half A km before del Castillo de San Felipe it is nice lookin place with pool and all amenities offered except sewage hookup cost 75q per couple looked relly clean not for rigs over 25 ft we did not stay as we were on outlast night at Thor Marne also no coordinates but easy to find ithas large Crush sign above the hotel del viajero sign

Report Check-In

Camping without electricity 75 Q/hnight. A room with air conditioning and private bathroom was 300Q/night. Coming from the south cross the bridge over the river, directly after the bridge turn hard left at N 15.658825 W 89.002551. Undercross the bridge, turn left and enter the red/brown colored gate.

Report Check-In

We were only able to stay one day as the hotel filled for Semana Santa. Good bathroom/shower. Good but pricy American food at the restaurant (French toast!) Not much privacy in the parking lot. Wifi only in restaurant. 75Q

Report Check-In

Parking in hotel/restaurant parking lot. Clean bathrooms, warm showers. Electricity available but need a long cord depending on where you park. Wifi included and pretty good. Paid 50Q with no electricity. Hotel is under the bridge, follow signs for marina or Parque Nacional your GPS will most likely not get you there.

Report Check-In

Great bar and restaurant, wifi, water, no power. 100Q / night. Ideal for a river trip.

Report Check-In

Bathrooms were clean. Nice restaurant right on the water. WiFi was sufficient. We were able to park right beside the restaurant and plug in with a 25' cord. If you have to park in the parking lot you will need at least a 50' cord. Restaurant/bar closes at 10 pm so it was quiet after that. Pool use is included. Close walk to town. Plenty of Jake braking on the bridge overhead made for restless sleeping.

You can stay right now at Bruno's in the small marina. Toilets, showers with hot water available and small restaurant full of old, white sails tourists who hang out late into the night in the bar (around 22 pm, they were lucky to have the very loud music turned off) and look at 5 o'clock in the morning full volume CNN (thanks allow for Sleep in!) WIFI also available, but the worst since we travel! Had about 2 hours (no exaggeration!) To send a single email! Extra got up at 4 o'clock in the morning, but was still equally useless.
Not very large parking lot and often sandy, which is also not ideal.
And by 4-5 am come the trucks runtergedüst the bridge with the loud Jake Brakes. By then, you're awake!
Was definitely not our thing, but 50QZ/Auto it was ok. Electricity costs 25QZ/night extra!

Report Check-In

The highlight of this place is not camping in the parking lot. We stayed on a very full parking lot in front of the hotel. Sitting comfortably beside your car and cooking outside is no fun. However, there is a beautiful, open-air restaurant, where you can easily spend an entire day. Very relaxed atmosphere. Good happy hour, yummie food. Free WIFI. Hot showers. Lavanderia right on the square (40 Quetzal / machine). The boats to Livingstone (200 Quetzal / person or 850 Quetzal / boat) leave from around the corner.

(Large motorhomes 100 Quetzal Quetzal current 25 extra)
