Latest Check-Ins

Very nice location and surroundings, seemed a bit disused which makes sense as there haven't been many travelers to Mali in recent years. We stayed here for 4 nights and price was 5k per night for sleeping in camping car, there is no electricity or WiFi but was fine for us as we have solar. There is filtered drinking water and a stove for cooking.

We came expecting to see wildlife but there honestly isn't much past some common birds, no hippos or monkeys for us. Good place to relax for a few days and swim in the clear river, get your fruit and veg from the market in Manantali as there is nothing on the other side of the river.

Casper built a little oasis there. Really nice campground. The village is close by and you can get everything you need at the market. There is portable water, so no need to buy water bottles. You can buy beer at the local bar in the village.

we stayed 6nights at this wonderfull campsite. we saw a lot of monkeys, many birds, nice river to swim, enough shade under the mangotrees.
we really likedit, but also missed a couple things:
- we came to this place because we were interested in the projectwork the owner is doing for the villages and because he maybe could tell us more of life in mali. when we arrived he was on vacation and the place was runned by 3 local young guys. they were really friendly but hard to communicate with.
- we loved the outside cold shower, but it was (as the toilet) dirty when we arrived and was never cleaned in the 6 days we were there.
- no wifi and no electricity.

We stayed at Casper’s place for three nights after crossing into Mali from Senegal and driving the scenic way to manantali from Kenieba on our motorbike (rough road... well worth it). Camp Mali is the perfect place to relax after some hard days on the road. It’s right below the dam so has probably some of he cleanest water in Africa to swim in. There’s a great restaurant in town and Casper can make up a really good breakfast for you as well. You can also go visit one of the surrounding villages with Casper if he’s repairing a water well while you’re around. Go to Camp Mali!

A great place to rest on your way to or from Bamako.

A haven for overlanders. Nice land, fantastic cool clean river to swim in fruit trees, facilities. Staying at Cool Camp isn't just camping, it's an experience itself. Casper, the owner is very friendly, helps with anything he can. (If you can/want to you bring him cheese and/or salami as a little treat and you make him very happy) And don't forget to see the hippos!

One of those must-stay overlander stops - great location, cool clear water to swim in, a peaceful haven. Visit Casper, and expect to stay longer than you planned! We need to support places like this and people like Casper through these lean times...and hope the banana growing keeps things floating.

Charming camp site/banana plantation with an excellent location for swimming in the clean river. Owner, Casper, is extremely welcoming, offering us food off his plantation and even killing one of his chickens for dinner. Feels very safe.
