stayed two nights, no issues. zero service. washboard roads for 2+ miles from main hwy to campground. a great spot for beautiful sunsets!

Report Check-In

Amazing little campground. The spring was very much enjoyed after a long day on the motorcycle.

what a wonderful place. very quiet. pool is hand warm, showers hand warm. potable water, hand warm also. a few trees for shade. fire pits, tables and benches. clean toilet, bring your own tp. no cell service, but starlink works great. except for birds and an occasional bull frog absolutely quiet. a place to come back.

The other reviewers summed it up. Sites are not very private but we found a mostly secluded spot next to the site labeled Camp Host. It got cold at night (low 40s) and was breezy, so be prepared.

Excellent free campground! With a hot spring? Lots of algae as of April, but I may try the showers! A wild Burro even came for a visit! We feel very lucky indeed!!

Report Check-In

Nice campground with a decent amount of space, but being in a desert environment don't know expect trees and privacy between sites. The warm springs was nice, but the shower was the same warm temp (I expected hot shower for some reason). Nevertheless it was good to get clean and recharge especially for free! No services nearby so decide where you want to get gas and supplies ahead of time.

What a great stay! Lots of camping sites in this campground. Yellow headed black birds by the thousands. Floated in the warm springs pool (not hot but comfortable). Showered in the shower house. Drove up to the opal mines but they were closed. Definitely recommend. Complete lack of cell service was an added bonus for a day!

TURN OFF HWY 140 INTO VIRGIN VALLEY ROAD/AT OPAL MINE AND WILDLIFE RESERVE SIGN, then continue 2 miles straight to campground. Great place to stop for the night. In winter, the warm pool behind the shower building is not enough warmth to warrant going in, with the freezing, bitter cold wind blowing. We had rain, hail and winds all night, but dry sunny morning with cold winds.

Free camping right off of Highway 140. There’s a hot spring pool and lots of campsites

Not much to add to the other descriptions that are presented here. Keep in mind there’s no cell service whatsoever here. We did a nice hike out to the gorge and there appeared to be other nice hikes and possible mountain biking in the area. We would stay at this place again

Great place, lots of big spaces for RV's. Couple inches of snow when we camped in late April. Kids loved the hot spring.

Report Check-In

Great free campground. Has spring on property and one close by. Didn’t use any of the facilities. Has fire pits and picnic tables. Primitive with lots of rv parking. The campground is pretty level overall.

For a free campground its pretty good. Windy and dusty at times, but the warm pool is a nice luxury. Vault toilets were clean. There isn't much privacy from your neighbors though, pretty much one big dirt lot. Very scenic

Great find! Warm spring was delightful. Didn’t use the showers or potty, we are self sufficient. Check out the gorge 2 miles down the road out of the cg. Opal mines are a draw but you can buy rather than dig. Great sunrises and sets, cool mornings, early fall. Loved it and stayed a 2nd night. Free is a bargain!!!

Report Check-In

Lovely warm pool and showers. Lacks shade. Several pit toilets- ours was out of toilet paper despite presence of a campground host. We would definitely return here!

This place is Amazing! Someone even left a big bag of weed above the take a book/leave a book in the shower hut. I left a book and took a little weed and left the rest there.

Stayed two nights here. It was 12 degrees both early November mornings but beautiful sunsets and sunrises. 60s during the day. There was some all-night generator use at a couple of the campsites because of the cold weather but they were far enough away me that it wasn't a big problem. Glad I have enough solar so I don't need to run a generator even to have heat all night. There was a big group of ATV users, but they were very considerate around the campground. There were a couple of big Marsh Hawks swooping around hunting but other than that do not see any wildlife. The road in is very washboarded. Warm springs showers are great.

Report Check-In

Fantastic place in the desert. Warm spring is around 80 degrees Fahrenheit, perfect temp for the climate. The water is piped into the shower hut from the spring. Lots of bugs at night. Toilets are cleaned daily.
