Latest Check-Ins

The only option to overnight in our car was relatively small parking at the entrance. They said that there are almost no cars at night. Better than that go to the neighbouring Tribe Bandas.

Report Check-In

Currently goes by the name of Distant relatives Backpackers. A busy backpackers with lots of beach boys hanging around. Not suitable for overlanders. Had to take a room for 4000ksh a night.

we stayed 2 nights there, very quiet and very friendly family. we didn't use the facilities (very basic)
no direct access to the beach as the place is up the cliff.
beach is 10 min walking down. nice to swim at night with plankton.
we paid 700 per night (they first ask for 1000), 2 adults and 3 kids.

Report Check-In

We passed a nice night in our RTT in the grassy area overlooking the lake. There is now also a cabana w two beds (don't know price) and soon there will be a dorm. The ablutions consist of one toilet (composting) and one shower stall (for a bucket shower). There's no electricity or running water but beautiful views over the lake and Juma, the owner, and his family are very welcoming and plan to continue to develop the site as an eco-friendly campground. We paid 500pp. There's no sign but coordinates are correct and nearby locals know the site.
