Description

Closed/Prohibited to park - This is a public parking lot with only 5 spots. This is one of the few free parking lots that doesn't forbid overnight parking in Key West, Florida. This spot has glorious sunrise views! The only thing against it is that sometimes the seaweed smell is too overpowering.

Latest Check-Ins

We stayed here during the afternoon and the night, but at 1:30am, cops woke up us, asked our ID and said overnight camping is impossible in Keywest. They said we could find other places outside of the city.

Report Check-In

At 4am the police came knocking at our door that we have to leave. They said that the it s prohibited to park overnight and sleep in the vehicle IN ANY PART OF KEY WEST and that they can even arrest you! No sign whatsoever...
They were checking all the other cars around there so I guess that this place is closed :(
Btw, the beach was entire covered in red algae which are terrible. We had to stay with a Glade spray in hand all the time.
Other than that it would have been a nice place.

Arrived early (like 10:30am), and spent day there. No one else in spots when arrived. Throughout day people would come and go. Close to road and bike/walking path, so gets noisy. A family of 4 were in a sprinter type van a couple spots over. Was nervous cops would pay a visit like someone else said earlier, but we were never bothered. Bathrooms and cold outdoor showers in walking distance. No mirrors in bathroom and says "no shaving or bathing, only to wash hands". Beaches closest to spot say no domestic animals allowed. Chickens and roosters roam freely and will pay you a visit. People had to keep stopping so they didn't run them over. People came and left from the spot throughout day and night (up to like 1am). Beautiful sunrise.

Excellent spot for sunrise views! Pretty cozy, was kinda noisy but it was a Friday night so, I get it. No trouble staying here overnight. Saw the water spout nearby right before walking onto the pier (to your right).

Nice place where you can stay. We ca recommend it

Toilets and cold beach showers nearby at Higgs Beach. Restaurant and vending machines there as well. Water spigot located at Aids Memorial, people were filling up their water jugs. Lovely view!

Report Check-In

I was here for 3 nights. No issues. Beautiful views and a nice quiet part of the island once the sun sets. I met other interesting van folk each night.

Report Check-In

If you rotate between the few places where you are "allowed" to stay the night, and move your vehicle to the public parking at White St and Atlantic blv during the day, then you might not get visited by the police. That was the tactic we applied after being kicked out on Steven Av for camping there for more than 2 days.
Have a wonderful time in Key West people! :)

Report Check-In

This spot is great but: we were awakened by the police at 2 a.m and had to leave the place. The officer told us that sleeping in a car is not allowed at the keys. It does not matter if there is a sign with „no overnight parking“ or not. We got a warning but the next time we get cought, we have to spend one night in the jail. I think this place is well known by the police.. Maybe you got luck (like in our first night) or you get awaked as well.

Parked here and had no problems. Gorgeous view of the water! Other spots were filled with fellow vanlifers so this is definitely a trusted place. Also there are bathrooms (open at around 7 am) and a beach shower, both about a 6 minute walk to the right towards the aids memorial (although you aren’t allowed to use soap at the shower). All in all, great spot and would totally recommend, but try to get here early because space is limited
