Description

Super chill small locals surf hostel on the beach. Parking in grass lot behind the hostel. Really quiet most of the time- occasional [good/big] weekend parties.

Toilets, outdoor shower, access to kitchen, access to electricity for the parking spots closest to the main hostel. Wifi available - ask Zancudo the owner.

Cars: $10 per car, 2 people. Tent camping $5/person. Rooms $10/15 s/d. Access through the back- turning left off at the last road before the main road ends. Access through marked gate on right.

Families better to stay at hotel next door. Juan runs the place and him and the crew that helps around or hangs around the hostel are all great people.

The extra dollar or two you might spend camping will be well worth the local experience and good vibes of this place- and you'll make up for it with cheap-ness of local food and beers.

Stayed 2 nights in our van out back for $7 USD pp/night. Toilets, outdoor shower, kitchen, Wi-Fi. The owner Zancudo is very kind and helpful.

Parking at the Canegue case de surf hostel. Enough space for 1-2 smaller camper. Paid 10$pp/n.

Zancudo, a professional bodyboarder with a unique surfstyle, runs this chilled place and is really welcoming to travellers and backpackers from all over the world. We had a great time.

At the property you also find a surfboard repair workshop and a lovely breakfast cafe with a rooftop terrace overlooking the beach and the surfspot.

You can also rent surfboards there or get a surflesson. We had a great time surfing there (can get crowded in the water).

I stayed here for two nights with my bicycle.

Camping is 10 dollars and a dorm bed is 17 dollars, private rooms from 35 dollars. After traveling Mexico and Guatemala for several months these prices seem ridiculous high. Surfing lessons are quite expensive as well. The owner claims it the cheapest hostel and he uses the high price of camping to convince you to take a private room or dorm for a couple of dollars more.

The location is nice, next to the beach with surfing possibilities. The facilities are very basic and lot of things are broken or not working. There is only one working outside open shower (without privacy). WiFi is very slow and quiet often it doesn’t work. The quality of the facilities don’t align with the high prices.

The owner or manager lacks of social skills. He does really make you feel uncomfortable. When I was hanging out in the evening, he just put the light of while I was clearly sitting at the spot. I was walking in the kitchen with my flip flops on and in a very unfriendly way he told me that it only aloud to be barefoot in the kitchen for hygienic reasons. Meanwhile the cats walk around on the countertops and dogs are raving the kitchen garbage bins with the garbage all over the kitchen floor. Hygienic indeed!

Another time I could not do my dishes, because there was no running water in the whole complex. The owner made a big deal out of it. Even I when I washed it afterwards, he was still making snippy comments.

If you are on a budget or not surfing, other villages might be cheaper. I would recommend to check the prices of other hostels in town, before you stay here.

Awesome spot right beside the beach. Parking for a few small vans and you can use outside shower, kitchen, Wi-Fi, etc. There are dorm and private rooms too. Good kitchen to use and the vibe there is wonderfully chilled and friendly. Zan is a stand up body boarding legend and will do surf lessons for $30. It’s $8 pp to park the van. The best spot for overlanders in El Zonte for sure! We loved it.

$10/night tent camping. Still the cheapest (and only, as far as I can tell) tenting option in El Zonte. You can get cheaper along the coast, but not here. Keep an eye out for the sandwich ladies that come by here about 2pm. Cheapest and best lunch in town.
