Description

It's a very well-kept ranch and campground with a big palapa, 3 very clean bathrooms with cold and warm showers. Humberto, the likeable and hospitable owner, offers tours (M$150 per person) to the nearby cave paintings (Cueva la Serpiente), which he discovered in 2000, or to the ruins of a mission church and a swimming hole. Camping is free but he gladly accepts a contribution for the use of his facilities ... and hopes that you will take one of his tours. There is no signal but he offers Starlink for 50 Pesos a day. He only speaks Spanish.

between humberto himself and the incredible animals he has on his ranch, my partner and i had a really special stay at his residence. he has 2 dogs 3 cats (2 of which were the most cuddly i have ever interacted with) baby goats donkeys a cow chickens etc! the cave paintings were beautiful, it was just humberto on the ranch during our stay so he led us to the start of the hike and let us tour the caves on our own as i’m sure he no longer journeys all the way up at his age. $600 pesos total for 2 people to camp 1 night & do the tour ($150 each to camp $150 each to tour). road from loreto was good until the san javier area, then pretty washboard with 3-4 water crossings but we did it vErY slowly in our small 2wd van. good swimming hole at one of the water crossings

We came here to visit the cave paintings and it was absolutely wonderful. Humberto welcomed us and brought us to the caves in his old Ford pickup truck (150 Pesos per person). You can also camp there and he has a Starlink for 50 Pesos a day.

Wonderful place— very rough river crossings on the way, but doable if you go slow. Last summer’s hurricane washed away all the sand, so no problem there. Danielle, an American woman is leading tours and upgrading the facilities and developing the eco-tourism aspect— a beautiful experience, highly recommended. Primitive camping in their corral area— Humberto is a super nice and soulful fellow. Cave paintings are wonderful. When we left we tried to drive out toward the west, but had to turn back, as the road got too rough.

Amazing experience staying here for two nights. The camping is primitive with flush toilets and cold showers. The area is amazing and it is best to stay 2 nights to have time and explore. Did both tours with Danielle (she speaks English) and it was really great. Such an unique experience. Tried out the goat cheese and it was great. One of the highlights of our trip through Baja. When coming from Loretto the road to San Javier is paved. From there the road is unpaved. There is a short part which is very sandy and I doubt it is possible to pass without 4x4.

This was such a great experience! We have a sprinter 22’ van and had no problems on the road to get here. We drove the entire road and it was no big deal. You could make it coming from Loreto or from the west side/route 53. We do have a 4 wheel drive sprinter with higher clearance, but we think you’d be fine in a 2 wheel drive regular clearance vehicle. We have 2 young children (5 years old and 22 months) and they loved this place as well. The people are so friendly, we took a tour of the caves, and enjoyed learning about the ranch. The showers and toilets were a nice plus. The current rates are 150 per person to camp and 150 per person for the cave tour. We highly recommend the guided tour. They did not charge for the kiddos and we were more than happy to pay the affordable rate. They made us feel like family here. Very beautiful spot, safe, and an authentic experience. We absolutely loved this place and would highly recommend to anyone in the area!

Great place to camp along the Baja Divide mtb route. Humberto is a very friendly man and his son (Humberto jr) took us to the cave paintings.
They charched us $150 pp for the cave-tour and $150 pp for camping. So the prices are changed.

This place was super! Humberto & his grandson, Brain were fantastic hosts. We got a ranch tour and enjoyed a tranquil night under very dark skies with loads of stars! The following day, we went for a hike with Brian to cave dwellings discovered by Humberto which had several cave drawings. Per prior review, no set price for camping. Use of the bathroom cost 20 pesos and a shower cost 50 pesos. No English spoken but, with Google translate all was good. Overall, a great experience!
