Costa Rica
Good overnight place, no infrastructure. Shower and toilet in the Reception. Very quiet. You can camp in the parking lot or rent a cabin. They asked 20 usd without services for a 17 feet camper. Very expensive

We stayed next door at Mirador de Quetzales. 10USD per night. Amazing location. Great restaurant. Very cold at night! Best sunset ever. Lovely walks. Go birding with Carlos who runs the hotel with his wife. Delightful chap. Very welcoming. Parked up in their fairly small car park; no facilities as such but can use their loos and wifi.
Report Check-InWe went to the Paraiso Lodge with our big Overlander truck and in the opposite of the latest review the staff was very nice and let us stay overnight for free at their parking lot and could use the showers / toilets also for free.
As long we would book the guide for the next morning, photo hunting for the famous Quetzal. We took the 5.30 am guide for $39 / pp and guide David took us to a finca in the cloud forest nearby and we spotted the male Quetzal, see photo. $78 for 2 is a lot but worth every penny when you spot this rare and beautiful bird.
Although not required, we had diner at the Paraiso restaurant and it was a very good and not expensive experience. They have a 2 course meal with drinks and good steaks for only $21.
We were there in low season and maybe they change their overnight camp policy in high season or during weekends, but our visit was very positive
That's nice outrageous!!
30 $ for just staying overnight
no way.
and 30 $ for a two hour tour to see the quetzal.
and good bye.
Stayed here with 4WD and rooftop tent. Parking area is at the end of the road, no great view from here, but relatively flat. Paid 30USD for 2p incl shower. Wifi is good. Could borrow a blanket from the restaurant which was really appreciated as it was around 5 deg Celsius at night, pretty cold in a tent. Dinner was good, nice trout with palm fruit. Beautiful sunset over the valley.
Went on the quetzal tour in the morning (6am) for 25usd per person. Saw plenty, but guide didn't explain a thing. The tour goes to a seemingly private property where the farmer and his son help spotting as well. All in all okay, but may be better options around.
Report Check-InWhen you eat here it’s free to camp. Lunch is $15pp including juice and desserts. Also it’s free to hike in the several trails in the reserve if you book the $30 quetzal tour.
Report Check-InNice quiet spot with excellent views on top of the clouds. we payed 10 dollar and eated well made trucha in the restaurant for 4000 colones p.p. hot showers where also ok, they are in the restaurant as well.
Report Check-InThey asked 20 usd for a camper of 17 feet long, without any services. We kindly refused.
Report Check-InCamping was for free because we eat dinner at the restaurant. The tour for Quetzales in the morning was 30$ per people and it was awesome! We saw several Quetzales and had a great opportunity to take pictures from a male! Temperatures are cool here! So it's a nice spot to take a break from all the heat at the coast. We could use the restrooms in the restaurant (not open at night)
Report Check-InTried to correct the name to Mirador de Quetzales. We parked in the lower lot and took the 6AM tour for $20 each. We saw multiple Quetzales and the following morning Oscar woke us up to see 2 more hanging out behind the hotel. We paid $15 per night for wifi and bathrooms, a lower rate (possibly $10) is offered without any services. The lows were in the 40s F at night.
Report Check-InWe stayed here three nights. The staff are absolutely lovely! Hummingbirds are everywhere! They take credit card as well. Prices are as listed. We ate dinner here on the last night, the trout was good but it was expensive and the accompanying food was kinda bland.
Report Check-InWe paid 5000C for the night, this price is without services. Awesome view from parking area. We paid $30 for two pp for the 6am tour. saw two small quetzals right near reception at beginning of tour and a very large one on the trails. Guide was Oscar, he was okay.
Report Check-InBeautiful and tranquil place! 2 separate businesses: El Mirador de Los Quetzales is what you want. Paraiso Lodge does not offer camping. This listing name should be corrected. $15 per car in the low season ($20 in high) if you want access to bathrooms, wifi, and a guided tour on their property. Otherwise, $10 per car. There are 2 parking/camping areas - one with a view of the valley but less private and one without a view but more private. Super friendly people. And we saw 2 quetzales on our hike!! Highly recommend taking them up on the guided tour because Jason, our guy, really knows how and where to look for them.
Report Check-InNicw place with friendly people.we bookt the morning tour(20usd pp, if you have a car) in front of the reception the have a lot of hummingbirds, we sit there for houres...
Report Check-InWhen reading the former reviews we understood this was a mirador, like the ones you see alongside a mountain road. Luckily it's not; the property is about 1 km off the road and contains 2 businesses: the Paraiso Quetzal Lodge (more upscale) and the Mirador (cabins). The owners are family (brothers/cousins?). The lodge does not allow you to camp, but it is a short walk from the Mirador. The lodge is the nicer place to hang out (restaurant with wood fire and hummingbird garden outside, wines). Here we booked the wonderful Quetzal tour for US$ 20 per person. They charge more if you don't have a car, a van is not good enough for all the fast driving. We were lucky that there was someone else to join us with a car. We left at 6 am. Guide Jorge speaks good English and is informed by local farmers, if they spot a quetzal on their property. So we saw one, amazing.
The Mirador is very simple. Toilets clean (to be used during restaurant hours, 7 am to 8 pm), didn't use the cold shower (too cold in the mountains). Slow wifi in restaurant of Mirador. Camping 2 persons + van US$ 15. Park next to cabin 14 for killer view.
Report Check-InWe loved it here, took the Quetzal tour and saw at least 7 Quetzales ($20 each with Pparadiso). We stayed in the grassy lot between both driveways. No car camping at the Paraiso, The Mirador wanted $10 to car camp and $10 to use the amenities-bathrooms showers and wifi
Report Check-InCamped here for two nights to see the Quetzal bird. Same price as listed. We camped down below on a big grass area close to owners car park. No facilities but showers and bathrooms in lodge. We did a beautiful hike in the morning with Jason the guide, and saw 6 or 7 Quetzal birds followed by breakfast in the lodge. We hung out in the lodge with a fire in the afternoon during the rain Peaceful place. Very nice and friendly owners. 2 large white huskies and one other dog live there to heads up if you have animals.
Report Check-InCamped at Mirador Quetzales Lodge for 5000 colones (Paraiso is next door). We parked beside cabin 14 but you could also park in the mirador lot or main parking lot (recommend for anything longer than 20ft). Toilets, shower and wifi in the lodge/restaurant from 6am-9pm
Report Check-InA little cold up in the mountains after a few weeks on the beach. Right beside cabin #14, $20 a night with Banos, wifi in restaurant.
Report Check-InThis is a family compound and we stayed in area #1 the Mirador location. We parked next to Cabina #14 and found it beautiful and quiet.
Report Check-InAsk to park in the upper spot, next to cabin 14, overlooking the valley. Quiet camping with great view of the sunset, few parking lot amenities and the small, level lot is suitable for small RV or truck. A charming, rustic restaurant with wood stove and playing cards.
Report Check-InYou can camp in the parking lot or rent a cabin. We stayed in a cabin for USD 60.-- per night incl. breakfast, dinner and a guided quetzal tour. Chilly at night due to high altitude.
Report Check-InPROS: beautiful view from the campground, quetzal tour available from lodge, restaurant on site (you can bring your own beer or other booze), clean bathrooms and warm showers – CONS: facilities are quite far from the parking area, no electric or water, no wifi – 5 USD/person/night
Report Check-InGood overnight place, no infrastructure. Shower and toilet in the Reception. Very quiet. 10./Night U $. Good to make a Quetzalführung early morning. Col. 7,500 .--/Person.
Turn right at km 70 of the Inter-Americana right in the direction of San Isidro gravel road.
Report Check-InIn the parking lot to the Cabinas with views of the valley. Toilets in the restaurant. We can recommend the one-hour Quetzaltour at 6am (13 US $ / person). We have seen several quetzals. Eating at the restaurant, however, is not worth the money.
(US $ 10 / day)
