Only stopped here for lunch but looked like a possibility for a night camp by this river just out side of Trinidad. There are two "entrances" we took the longer one (approx 80-100m) as the obvious one off the highway had a low hanging wire, and we trimmed our way in through the woods so now it is suitable for bigger rigs too.

The south entrance is hardly noticeable and steep with a big step off the road. the north entrance is a parallel track off the road given away by dirty tyre marks along the grass into the woods. Otherwise not obvious. The river is opaque brown and I wasn't even tempted to bathe - especially down the steep banks. I pitched my tent in the woods. The road looks like it shouldn't be busy on the map since it's a way off Ruta 1 but there was traffic all night. Lots of motorcycles with loud exhausts, some trucks. If it was further away from the road then it would have felt more natural and secure. I had the feeling that people were arriving where I was camped but they were just slowing down on the road. A forest crew arrived early in the morning to clear some woodland so I didn't hang around. Not great for a tent but OK for a van.
Basically Camping in the woods next to a road. Not many close alternatives indicated at the moment so I'd consider this a Plan B place. Functional but not enjoyable.

Report Check-InGood for tents, amongst trees for privacy and sun shade.
River clean enough for bathing but that's all.
