Yesterday we also met the "snakeman" who was a very nice man to talk and not pushing at all, offering his snakeshows which is his business, and probably worth seeing it (we didnt because we had to drive further)... so different experience at all.

Absolutely lucky to be here- good vibes, nice guards and they left us the gate open to use the facilities. Free.
The Jungle Coffe Lab guy is the owner from the campsite further down- he is good hearted too- little sad that we choose to camp „wild“- sorry we are bit awkward among people ^^ (and as overlander is hard to have privacy around campings yeah)

He is renovating his casa so he will be really happy if you are giving him a visit

He makes awesome chocolate chip cookies!
Ps: Gilbert was here! Hahaha

Report Check-In

BE CAREFUL with a guy named Gilbert known as the “Snake man”, he will approach you in a friendly way, and by the time he tells you the story of his life, he will ask for 25$ US. We were approached at the ruin parking lot, he looked friendly and asked us if we wanted to eat at the restaurant near the ruins. We went there to have lunch and have a friendly chat with a local. That is what we did and we spent almost an hour at the restaurant, eating drinking and talking. He told us about his passion for snake and the story of how he got bitten 5 times by a venomous viper and survived. Almost at the end he showed us some of his snakes (nobody asked him nothing) and we just thought he was a nice guy who just wanted to chat and share his story. In the end, when we were leaving, after paying the food, he said: I do this for a living, so that would be 25 US $. We were shocked and when we told him we were not gonna pay because we legit thought he just wanted to meet people and have a chat, he changed his behavior and started to act aggressive and angry. He insisted that we had to pay him because “this is what I do for a living”. After 10 embarrassing minutes of us saying NO, we went away while he kept yelling at us.
Just be careful and if he approaches you, even though he looks nice, refuse and continue on your way.

Signs say no camping here and when we asked at the ticket booth the man confirmed this however he said he recommends we stay here anyway and not go elsewhere as here is safest. Felt secure all night. No facilities in the parking lot but toilets open all night (gate just slides to open, not locked!). Free! Couple of wifi spots around but passwords needed. Parrots active at dusk an dawn.
