Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Longest occupied Mayan settlement on record. Fascinating to watch documentary shows about these Ruins, and then go to see them!
Report Check-InBeautiful arqueological site with very well preserved pyramids. You'll walk trough the jungle, a great way to spot animals, we were fortunate enough to see several groups of Mono Monkeys, one Anteater, Tucans and other beautiful birds.
We arrived at 8am, opening time, on a Saturday, and were the only ones around for 2,5 hours, afterwards the crowds arrived from the ships.
Also do not miss on the Museum, they do not have many artifacts but it was the most informative museum we have seen so far, after visiting 20+ arqueological sites.
Our favorite ruins so far (Mexico, Belize). While not huge compared to the others, we felt they were better preserved. We arrived about 2pm and were they only ones there...the tours were just leaving. Vendors said the cruise ships come on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday when 1000s of people show up from about 11am to 3pm, so best avoid these times.
And...no camping there :(
GPS may take you through the town of Shipyard....go through San Filipe instead...much quicker.
Report Check-InGreat ruins really natural into the jungle ! the road to get there have a lot of holes so be carefull
no problem with a dog on leash
Visit before 10am and you will be almost alone on the site
Visited here on our first day in Belize coming down from Mexico. Rather bad road coming from San Felipe but we made it back out ok. Interesting ruins.
really beautifuul ruins. you have to go early because of cruise boat tours
children under 5 pay the same price than adults 10 dollars belize
They defintely do not allow camping on the parking of the ruins. We were given the tip to go down to the lake just outside the reserve, see posting
Report Check-InThe road in was rougher than we expected but the ruins are nice and the riverside location is pretty. Cost as listed previously.
Report Check-InVery nice Ruins in the Jungle. 5 US/10 BZ. They allow dogs on a leash. Asked for camping at the parking lot but they didn't allow it. The road driving in from orange walk is not bad at all other then a few potholes and speed bumps.
Report Check-Inawesome ruin, but you can't camp here. you have to call in advance and get permission. you can however park in the little town and buy dinner at the restaurants and most will let you stay there.
Report Check-InWe have not slept here, but I think it would have been quite possible. There was nothing that you can not camp. Instead, we have something previously slept in a quarry.
