Wow wow wow... Our first night in Norway was a beauty. Wild camping never felt so good! Perfect spot just off from a very quiet road. The window view offers spearmint blue water with mountains and glaciers in the back ground. Kayak and fishing heaven!
This is one serious killer spot! The view is like something out of a movie! You can pull up anywhere along the quiet road and sleep for the night. There are toilets close by as well as facilities for barbecuing. Perfect for hiking, swimming, fishing, climbing, kayaking, etc. Crystal clear water, sandy beach, beach ball net, quiet, free! 5 star wild camping!
This spot will capture your heart... You literally have your own small private beach with soft sand and crystal clear water. As you head towards the end of the road you'll notice a grass verge on the right hand side by a jetty. Simply pull on and enjoy. There's a couple of camp sites along the road if you need electricity and shower, etc, but if your sorted then do NOT miss this spot. The midnight sun glows and lights up the whole beach at midnight. Spectacular!
Small pull off by the road that we found after coming back late from the whale watching expedition... Beautiful beach on the opposite side and rocky out crops for fishing. This is a great spot for bird watching and if your feeling adventurous you can climb the mountains behind. Toilets available on site. Very quiet.
5 star wild camping really doesn't get much better... We took the western side of the island down from the north as its a spectacular drive! However, pull over spots are hard to come by as its the "non tourist route". However we persevered and found this amazing spot. You need to look out for a dirt road just before (or after) the official car park, depending on what way you drive around the island. Take the dirt road over the grassy verge and pull up right next to the waters edge. Perfection!
Beautiful little spot just off from the road offering a beautiful sandy beach with glorious mountain views. Great for trekking, fishing, kayaking, etc. If you don't fancy wildcamping then there's a campsite 10 minutes down the road. This should be your stop though as its free and right next to the beach!
Great wildcamping location right next to a magnificent view... Golden sands, huge mountains, etc. This seems to be a well known spot as there was other camper vans plotted up (10 in all). First time we haven't found our own beach... Hard life :) There are toilets available along with running water. Great spot especially if you have a bigger rig as there's loads of space.
Car park... Everyone uses this for either exploring the surrounding area (beautiful) or for the ferry crossing (either night before or after arriving late). Either way it's handy and the only guaranteed sleep spot unless you go to the local camp site. Be aware the car park slopes! If you don't have ramps, park at the lower end as its flatter.
This one was well off the beaten track... Beautiful views and a great overnight spot if you want to explore the glacier (well worth it). Narrow and steep in parts but no problem for large vehicles. Just take it slow!
