Popular overlander meeting spot run by the lovely 70 year old Alice with live music on weekends and Wiener Schnitzel on the menu, free wifi, camping for vehicles in separate compound on sand, 2000CFA/night (3,05€) for two people
The embassy is reached via a rough track in an area where you would not expect a diplomatic representation to be located. They issue visas while you wait and the date of entry can be chosen freely. A 30 day double entry visa costs 90.000 CFA. Two passport photos, passport copy and copies of at least 3 African visas are necessary as well as completing one application form.
The embassy was a bit tricky to find and is located near the hospital. It is run by a lovely family and the husband speaks English. A one month single entry visa costs 40.000CFA (61€), can be picked up the following day and you state the approximate date of entry but it is supposedly valid from any date of entry. To be able to apply you need to become a Togolese resident and their son usually sorts that out for you. Costs are 12.500CFA per person (19€). It might be a bit cheaper to organize yourself at a police office. Apart from that you need two passport photos, passport copy and yellow fever certificate copy as well as one filled out application form.
A one month single entry visa costs 50.000CFA (76,20€) and can be picked up the following afternoon. For an extra 15.000CFA (23€) they issue it on the same day. Applications have to be handed in between 8 and 11:30 on weekdays. 2 passport photos (white background), passport copy, Togo visa copy, yellow fever certificate copy and hotel reservation (e.g. booking.com, can usually be cancelled free of charge) are necessary and you have to fill out one application form. Date of entry can be chosen freely.
Hotel in Kara, Camping possible in the backyard of the hotel in parking area. Nice atmosphere, restaurant, shower and toilet available in hotel room. Dog okay. 1000 CFA per vehicle, 1500 CFA per person. Free but very slow WiFi
Costs 150 USD + 56,000CFA to DHL application to Angola and 67,500CFA to get it returned. I did not bother to get it here due to price, just leaving information for anyone wondering if it is possible to get in Togo
Have a strict no resident no visa policy. I already got my visa in Bamako but as my girlfriend will be joining me soon from Spain, thought I would try on her behalf. Woman at reception said they don't issue to non residents but I was allowed to come back after lunch and explain my case at least. I didn't bother to return, but marking location for the future if anyone else needs it, as it was difficult to find.
Only KTM motorcycle store between Spain and South Africa. Gave my 1190 adventure a 15,000km service for a reasonable 103,000CFA. For sure they would service other big bikes and also have spare tyres for big bikes.
They also let me store my bike here for a month while I went back to Europe. Very friendly people, a Swiss guy running the shop. Son of owner Togolese/German guy works here too who speaks good English.
They are also a heavy diesel mechanics shop working on big trucks and other 4x4s. Secure compound. All round great place to get repairs done!
we asked to sleep here and they where really helpfull and friendly.
We gave them a donation for the church. As it was Sunday we had the chance to take part at the mess. go to the afrika (thee is also a french one) and you will be impressed. They are singing wonderfull and dance very beautiful

caves or better old city built direct into the rock. Very nice view here!
You need a guide to visit the city so make shure you get the real one (2 are writen on a sign with telefon numbers)
we paid 5000 Cfa for 2 person. I think it was to much! 1000 per person should be ok
it's a unesco protected village here where you can see old mud "castels".
very interessant and nice.
1500cfa pp entrance
plus! They say you need a guide for 10000 cfa!
We negotiate to 5000 but we are shure you do not need one.
Our guide Michael showed us one house than he want to go back....
After a complaining of that behaviour he showed us an other and bigger hause and some other stuff so it was woth the money.
Behind the school building so nobody can see you from the "street"
very nice view to the mountain on the other side and a cool brise.
We stayed here on Saturday to Sunday so no kids in the morning. During the week maybe is better to leave early😉
toilets are open so you can use them
As you cross from Ghana you'll see what appears to be an all singing all dancing border post (even lane markers for different vehicles) However, this may be for the future. For now keep left on the sandy track and go to the more standard shed/huts
Pretty straightforward enough. Although the multi entry visa stamp I got in Accra was not that legible. They were confusing the start date with the end date. I did point it out a few times in French. After a grand counsel of minds they sussed it themselves.
Immigration stamp then done. Then customs who were not interested in stamping my carnet. I tried to get them too with no luck
Road just after the border is tarmac and ok
Nice little Fetish Market. A lot of dead Animals and other cruel Stuff. Around the Market are some litte Huts were Fetish Men do their ceremonies.
Entry 3.000 CFA pP. Camera 2.000 CFA. We had an english speaking Guide. They were used to Tourists. Nice Place for Photos.
Comment: They recently moved to these coordinates: 6.130842, 1.241468 Second Floor

They make the visas in 10 minutes.
10000sefa and you have 7 days visa in Togo. If you want to extend it, you can do it in the police in Kara or Lomé. There you will have to pay 2000 sefa more and bring 2 photos.
You need 3 photos and fill the form. In the border they told us we should pay other extra 2000sefa but noone asked for money here. You can extend the 7 days visa got it in the border to 30 days visa.
If you wanna stay more than a month, you will have to pay 10000 sefa more for the second whole month stamp.
