Sonia and her family are really nice and welcoming people. We spend 2 nights in a room and have been welcomed with lemon pie! In May we paid CLP 8000 per person with breakfast. Possibility of camping outside. The hostal is really near the harbor. Strongly recommended!

There are several free sites on this road without exit. There is a paid campground too. We stayed on the last free site, a huge grassy area with nice view over the mountains, a river and a lot of sun flowers in May.

Pavones - best spot for surfers

Verified: 3 months ago
GPS: 8.392227, -83.138638
Alt.: 5.1 masl
After crossing the bridge (or the river if the bridge has been taken away by the rain), you will find a bit further on the right a spot under trees and palm trees. People park here during the day as it is the best spot to enter the water and to ride Pavones. When I was there, at night, there was either nobody or a couple of tents. For surfers: You're at the beginning of the point. To get into the water at high tide, walk a bit to the left of the beach to avoid the impact zone. At low tide, to avoid the rocks, walk all the way left, next to big rock into the water. And the morning, you can be the first one to be in the water, as everybody has to walk or drive to come here. This is a dream spot for me. Enjoy! Rafa & Dino

Small sports bar run by a guy from Newcastle. You can get tacos and gyros there and the gyros are pretty good! pita made from scratch, they disinfect all the veggies, yogurt sauce is yummy too. one of the more affordable meals we had in antigua. (p.s. the 'mini' gyro is really full sized)

The paved road from Popayan ends here and continues as 30km of muddy gravel road. We did it with our eurovan vw, but 4x4 would be really have been helpful. It was absolutely the limit of what we can do with our van. From this point it took us 2.5h to reach Tierradentro

Super Mechanic. High entrance, even for big rigs. Made all stabilizers new especially made for us Repaired water pump with ignition belt and normal belt. New springs and shocks for a VW LT for PEN 700 .... Highly recommended. If they don't have the part they make sure it gets produced cheaply: Four rubber stabilizers each size of an apple for PEN 30 complete.

Hotel with swimming pool and parking for motos. Not sure a big rig can fit. But town seems pretty safe. We stayed in a room eith one double and one single bed with private bathroom and an air conditioner for 40000 cops. Normally it was 45000, we negotiated a bit. Town is small but nice, not like the other crazy colombian towns. Worth to stay. Maybe you can stay one night more with the effect of swimming pool :)

Great little family hotel on 2 levels. Full of plants and parrots. Cheap, cheerful and spotless. For myself alone I payed 250 ps/with fan/double bed/bathroom (400 ps if I wanted AC) - there is hot water, towels, soaps, tv. Seating area outside on landing. There is a huge parking opposite that could accommodate an airplane. Gates get locked at 10 pm. Checked a few other hotels first, it seems everyone is taking the pesos, apart from here. And.. no mossies!

It was late and we had run out of options (others parking lots full) so camped for $20 and toilets were terrible. Gaurds talking out side all night. Not recommended.
