August 4th, 2020 Edge of a clearing

Yeup... Spot checks out. A wide spot on a road through a clear cut. I went 100 yards beyond the pin marker on an inactive logging road on the right. Level. Very nice view of Mt. St. Helens. Gets sunshine almost all day.
NOTE: An area nearby is being logged, so watch for logging trucks.

August 4th, 2020 Abandoned campground in the National Forest

Campground is still there. One part of the 'loop' is a bit overgrown so large RVs might want to have a look before heading in. Several large sites with almost flat areas.

August 3rd, 2020 Mineral Springs CCC

A small CCC campground with about 7 sites. All have tables and fire rings. $5 per night.

August 3rd, 2020 Great campspot with view of Mt St Helens

I tried to get to this site using NF118 off Curly Creek Rd. The NF road has recently been graded and does not seem to go far enough to get to the campsite. It becomes overgrown after about 500ft. I turned around, unable to find the site.

August 2nd, 2020 Skamamia County Dump Station

RV dump station on North side of parking State Garage parking lot. Potable water 100 ft to the south. Look for dump station signs on lampposts. $2.00 donation in cement pill box.

August 2nd, 2020 Beaver Campground

$22 per night. Water spigots in campground loop itself. Seems like a nice place by the river.

July 30th, 2020 Silver Falls State park

Very well maintained State Park campground. Due to its proximity to the waterfalls hiking trail, it tends to be full. Helpful campground staff. Some RV sites with full hookups are available.

July 29th, 2020 Silver Falls State Park

Located in the Group Camping area this dump station is free and has portable water.

July 28th, 2020 Creek side pull off on Sardine Rd

We tried to get up to this location but the road is getting overgrown. I think a pickup could work their way up to the campsite, but our truck was too big and we had to back down some 1/2 mile.

July 27th, 2020 Two great campsites above the river

There are two main camp areas towards the back that are close to the rivers edge. (There is also a 100ft cliff.) Closer to the road is another site big enough for trailers or RVs. Room to turn around in the front. You may want to double check the areas in back if you will fit and be able to turn around.

July 25th, 2020 Wooded glade with pond view

Fairly large area in the forest for 2 to 3 vehicles. Lots of ATV activity on the roads around here on the weekends. Can be dusty. Good East / West exposure for solar. 3 to 4 bars of Verizon 4G LTE. Additional camping area down across the road a bit.

July 23rd, 2020 Pull off of NF-4606

There are many pull offs along NF-4606.
Most are suitable for trailers. Just keep 100 ft back from the road and keep your camp clean.

July 20th, 2020 Dump Station $8

Still an operational dump station at north end of parking lot. Pay inside. There is free potable water on the north wall of the convenience store.

July 17th, 2020 China Hat Campground

Basic National Forest campground with fire rings and picnic tables. Seems to be free.

July 16th, 2020 NF-21 Camping

Good site, but not suitable for trailers or RVs. The site itself is level, but the access is a bit tricky at the end if you are is a bigger truck with a camper. We actually camped at the Y above the road down to the site. Good view to the East.

July 12th, 2020 Wikiup South Point - edge of lake

Nice place to camp next to the water, but the Bald Eagles diving to catch fish were two hours late... Deducting one star. :)

July 11th, 2020 Wikiup South Point - edge of lake

Along the edge of this now receded lake is a trail accessed from the Reservoir Campground waypoint on Google. Along the edge of the lake there are places to tuck in for the night. 4x4 suggested. Great views. Lots of wildlife. Can be windy.

July 10th, 2020 Riverside gravel meadow

Less than 100 feet off HWY 58, this is a large gravel meadow with plenty of flat spaces for big rigs. Very close to the river too. But, at the expense of considerable road noise. Traffic slows down around 6pm.

July 10th, 2020 Cottage Grove Lake Campground

Free with paid campsite. Just inside main gate area.

July 9th, 2020 Pine Meadows Campground (primitive area)

An Army Corps of Engineers campground on the edge of Cottage Grove Reservoir. Many nice level sites, many with a view of the reservoir. Main camping area (1000 feet to the north) has hook-ups and costs $22 / night. The primitive area where we stayed costs $14. 3 Bars Verizon LTE.

July 8th, 2020 Lemolo 2 Forebay forest camp

5 basic campsites off a National Forest road. Many tall pine trees. Boat ramp and potential fishing in lake. Very quiet and best of all free! Pack your trash out folks... and yes I'm talking about the people who has our site before us. This site has now been cleaned up for the next person to enjoy.

July 7th, 2020 Toketee campground

Stopped by 7-7-20. While open, all sites had signs indicating they were available by reservation only.

July 6th, 2020 Top of the rock in Winema NF

Very nice area in the National Forest about 0.6 miles off 138. Plenty of room for many campers. Forest road is not too bad. Area itself looks like an old gravel pit that a few pine trees have grown up in. Didn't drive to top of hill. Found a flat spot for the truck easily. Quite a few mosquitoes. 2 bars of Verizon 4G.

June 29th, 2020 Odessa established campground (free)

A nice free camping spot just inside national forest. Fire rings and picnic tables. About 6 spots. Small boat ramp. (Free up to 14 days.)
4 bars of Verizon 4G.

June 26th, 2020 NF Pull Off

A small pull off off Buckeye Ridge Road with pre-existing fire ring. It appears to be on National Forest land. Rangers drove by and didn't stop. Requies backing in, but a trailer could fit in.

June 18th, 2020 Vallejo Sanitation Dump

Great free spot to dump. Free. Buzz at gate for access. Thank you.

February 20th, 2001 Bismark Lake

Small free camping area in Mark Twain forest with about four sites. Near a boat ramp and favorable fishing. Locals can be loud and ignorant.
