I tried sticking it in the western hemisphere at longitude -86.47723 and it is in honduras but still miles from la ceiba. A look at the satellite view revealed that it's just a field. I've e-mailed the user to ask them about this so hopefully we have updated coordinates soon!

So the pros: only 10 miles off freeway on our way home to CA. We had the place to ourselves. Cons: hot as hell. No seriously, June 1 it was 104 after dark. Pit toilet, picnic tables, trash cans and fire pits are amenities. No water! Official price is $8 to camp and $4 with a Annual Parks Pass. Petroglyphs are not worth the visit unless you need to camp here.

Lots of pull outs off this forest road to camp. We chose this one with a meadow, fire ring and a pile of wood. Near Rim Trail trail head. Free and very remote.

There are a few campsites around the lake which are pretty much bare bones. Fire pits, BBQ and tables at some. Free. Better for car campers but tent campers could make do in a pinch. Near highway 10 so good if you want a free place to stop crossing Texas.

This is an urban park with a few walking trails and 8 full service sites for RVs (water, power, sewer). Hot water showers and bathrooms. Price is free! This was our first campground in the US after picking our truck up in Galveston. There are a bunch of places for bbqing and day camping; tent campers may be able to setup there.

This is a the view point at the end of a great little hike near the U. Of Utah. Follow the trail to red butte peak and you'll see the trail cut off to this viewpoint.

This area is full of great wild camp options but this is one of our favorites even though the secret seems to be out so you will probably not be alone. It can get windy up here but the views are unbeatable. Only amenity here is fire pits. For an unforgettable drive, head north off the 163 through the valley of the gods (road turns off 7.5 miles north of Mexican Hat) on your way here. Roads in are dirt and not suitable for huge rigs.

We were here during Semana Santa and the river camping areas were packed so we found this parking area at the end of a street with 180 views of the river. Super mellow but the street light was a bit bright.

This is a urban park that feels like a gaucho gypsy camp. we followed some dirt roads and found a quiet spot. Lots of other people camping around this park but lots of space and we were here Semana Santa week. You are basically in a huge forest of eucalyptus trees in the middle of the city. We saw a few port a potties but didn't use them. Lots of people riding horses around. There were some food stalls set up in areas. Festive atmosphere but quiet because it is such a large park. Free.

Kinda noisy parking area for Parque José Enrique Rodo. Big rigs may find space. No place for tents. On the bright side you are close to all the action and it's free. Noise died down around 10pm and we actually got a good nights sleep. No bathrooms near where we parked. Free.

Large dirt parking lot next to river. Minutes walking to old town and even on a Friday night surprisingly quiet. No bathrooms nearby (nearest are restrooms and showers at the yacht club about 250 meters away and showers are 45 pesos there) and no place really to pee, so best for rigs with toilets. No one cared we were here, really great town. Free. It's a bit tricky to get here. From Av General Flores head south on Ituzaingo. Then take the first right on 18 de Julio. OSM has this street marked as one way but it isn't on that block which will likely confuse your gps. From there just head past the plazas and you'll get kicked out right next to the parking area.

Large campground with tables, grills and beach access to river beaches. We were here in late March and alone, but this place might be busy in summer. Great for tent campers but trees so low rigs will not fit into many places. We parked in large parking area near river ( still surrounded by trees). Free. Bathrooms were a bit run down but clean. Our showers were cold.

Nice big campground with trees on river next to a really nice park that rambles along river for about a kilometer. You can camp for free I think across river from campsite near a soccer field but it was so cheap here and uncrowded we decided to stay in campground. 15 pesos a person plus 20 for vehicle so 50 total for night. Only negative is a bit of trash about, but clean bathrooms.

Beautiful little lake off Ruta 3 to spend the night. We drove around dirt road on lake until we found a remote area near the water. Stunning sunset.

Lots of pretty, remote areas to camp along this coast. Long pebbled beaches to walk on and plenty of space to be all alone. No facilities other than trash cans. Even on a four day weekend we were by ourselves. Negative is there were lots ( hundreds) of flies when we were here when it was hot and we had no wind. Cooler windy days they were not bad at all. Might be a pain if you had to cook outside. But at least no biting bugs and good water to swim in if it is hot outside.

Awesome spot right on the river with huge red rock cliffs and cool breezes. No amenities except a fire pit and a garbage can. Fisherman use this spot to access the river but there is plenty of room. We were here alone during the week. It was very warm when we were here so we cooled off in the icy river.

They have a hose with water between 10am and 6pm you can fill your tanks with. Free.

Amazing views, peaceful and remote. We camped here with another overlander couple we met and the views were stunning and we watched penguins chase fish in the crystal clear water in the mornings. We loved this place!

When we were here there were about 10 other folks camped out so this definitely seems like a legit spot. Great beach views and nice breezes. Only amenity is a trash can. Only downside was lots of flies buzzing around. I don't think pets are allowed in the park but there were a bunch of dogs running around on this beach.

Got our rig washed here. They did a good job. Also looks like they can change oil of you want.

Good location in town, wind coverage and priced at what it is worth. 30 pesos each, power, shade, very clean hot showers, fire pit and tables. A little dusty and not very scenic, but not a bad place to escape the wind and shower up. Oh, and have some proper English tea.

An established free camping area on the beach with cement BBQ areas and a trash can. It is really just a camping libre area like they have all over Argentina. A bit of trash, but sandy spaces with trees tents could tuck behind and no wind while we were here during the evening but is picked up and blew crazy all night and all the next day. We were here on a Saturday in March and were totally alone. No bathrooms.
