From here depart private speedboats to destinations on and along the Essequibo River. There are also organized boat trips. Camped the night on the stelling.

Adventure Stelling (near Supenaam stelling). Stelling is the Guyanese word used for docks or a landing stage. The Adventure Stelling was used at the time of writing but will soon be replaced by Supenaam, a couple of kms southwards, but for now is still under construction.

Hot & Cold LakeTurn left onto an unpaved road near the village of Onderneeming. About 13 kms of sand road takes you to a beach and the lake. Nothing particularly attractive about it but it's a good place for a dip and we assume a quiet place to camp.

Camped at the Expo Center in the neighborhood called Sophia. Lots of space, shade, toilets and taps. No shower.

Parking. Quiet place to spend the night, no facilities but there are toilets in museums.

We camped in the parking lot-cum-camping ground of the Inca ruins. Beautiful place to stay. Running water available and toilets.

Camping Mama Pacuala. 5 kms before (below) the entrance of the UNESCO site El Fuerte. Quiet camping (maybe not in summer holidays?), kept clean and maintained. Swimming pool and toilets.

A fantastic recreational park. 24 Hectares with swimming pools, walking trails, a refuge center for many types of animals. Bungalows and campsite with cold showers.

Tranquil rough camp wit lots of birds some 45 kms south of San Rafael, in the fields / forest of a farmer.

Campsite along hot water springs. Quiet place. Obviously also hot showers available. Price: B15 pp for 24 hours.

Camped on the property of a farm (Estancia los Portreros) on the main road between San Javier and Concepción. Asked permission to stay alongside the field, which was no problem. Beautiful, quiet spot.

Some 40 kms south of Fortaleza. Pleasant rough camp at shady parking lot of Ipark, which is home to Ypióca's cachaça museum (the museum = well worth a visit). Ask the guards if you can use their bathroom.

Camped in the street of Parque del Sol, near suburb of Messjana. Nothing special but it was a quiet neighborhood that felt safe to spend the night.

We stayed at (same name as the one in Jericoacoara; it has the same owners). Lovely place, quiet, relaxed. Remote beaches where you can also perfectly rough camp.

Jericoacoara. We stayed at , which is run the amiable Patricia and Marcio where you can just relax, go horseback riding, take kitesurfing lessons etc.

Camped at the terrain of Pousada Lacula. Owner Sylvain. His guesthouse has comfortable rooms and also offers place to hang your hammock.

Quiet and beautiful rough camp next to guesthouse and kiteschool Cabana do Kite (owner Alain), where you can use the bathroom, shower and have something to eat/drink.
