guys are hanging around at the fuel station (hut no. 4) who change kwanza to namibia dollars and vice versa

you need a cover letter in portugues, french or english, copies of all passport pages (personal data in colour), copy of yellow fever vaccination (inside + outside), copy of car document, copy of credit card, 2 passport pictures.
there's a fotocopy shop some meter down the street on the right side, where you can copy everything and make pictures

shower didn't work, dog poop in the grass, ugly smell all over the place. we had to stay outside the courtyard, although we had to pay 10 usd per night. left after one night.

nice hotel with friendly staff. were allowed to camp for free in the back of the hotel with access to a room with shower and toilet. since the restaurant was closed, the staff put up a table and chairs for us and we cooked outside on our own

customs officer asked for 20000cfa for the passavant, we didn't pay since there is no receipt.
after some discussion we got it for free but we had to go to ouesso to get a new passavant for the route to brazzaville

such a nice place in bobo. andrej and his wife sita can help you with any questions and can cook delicious food for you. nice house and garden located in a very safe area. there is a bar right at the corner of the street with cheap drinks and food. highly recommendable!!

douane checkpoint. when the route on the passavant is different to your current route it needs some time for talking and negotiation

same as below ... after some negotiation we were allowed to stay at the parking lot for 5000cfa since we had a problem with our car and no chance to look for another place

we were on our way back to tara plage and had a beer here, the owner talked to us and offered us to camp at the parking lot for free. just give it a try. nice place, beautiful beach. clean ablution block and wifi

what a strange place ...
nice garden, that's it. and a list inside the rooms showing what you are not allowed to do. the owners seem to be a little bit paranoid in regards of safety. it's no guest house, it's just a place where you can rent a room. nobody cares about you or asks you if you need anything.

nothing special, african standard. no wifi although phone showes it when you switch on wifi. we had to take a room for 10.000N, the cheaper double rooms were fully booked - they said ... it's fine for one night before heading to cameroon. we were "invited" to the restaurant, they only had rice with chicken, the taste itself was good, but it was very hot, although we are used to spicy food, we had problems to eat it and also the next day. don't go there, bring your own food

nice tiny guest house in takum center. african standard, no power during the day as usual in nigeria. paid 3000N for the room. no restaurant etc, but staff can bring you to a shop when you need anything

hotel is nice, but our room was a little bit run down and the bathroom not clean. staff is very friendly. restaurant is not recommendable, staff seems to be a little bit confused. i've ordered spaghetti with chicken, chicken was not fresh but just put into the microwave (microwave is in the restaurant, not in the kitchen). no blankets, just pillows and a kind of "decoration blanket".
hotel is ok for just one night on the way to cameroon, secure parking and atm, shops etc around the hotel

visa only for residents of benin!!! don't do the online application and the payment, you probably won't get your visa here.

austrian citizens

they explained that when you go overland then you only get a 3-months visa for 150.000cfa. when you take a flight into cameroon you get a 30days visa for 75.000cfa. this is because of safety reasons. we were told that you can get the cameroon visa now in lagos, abuja and calabar. ON YOUR OWN RISK, this is only what they told us at the consulate

met alice there, but the place itself is closed for tourists

visa application is now online, no need to go to the embassy
e-visa within 10minutes, fill in the form, pay online, receive the visa per email after a short time and print it out
