November 20th, 2018 Camping Refugio Del Angel

Beautiful and tranquil location. Lots of big sites with shade and fireplace (2000 CLP per bundle). Toilets and shower clean, but no toilet paper and no soap. No WiFi. Very friendly and helpful owner.

November 19th, 2018 Destilería Artesanal Doña Josefa de Elqui

Very nice little distillery. Tasting, tour and shop. They produce two different piscos (40° at 6000 CLP & 45° at 8000 CLP) - all organic. Highly recommended.

November 19th, 2018 Pisqueria Los Nichos

Not very interested in providing a good service. There were four people in the office but none cared about our visit... We had to call them although they had seen us. But the Pisco they have is great.

November 18th, 2018 Playa Blanca, Llanos de Challe

Official Conaf-Campground in the national park. We didn't spend the night there, but it sure looks very nice: Sun protection roofs and a lot of big rocks for wind protection.

November 14th, 2018 Eco-Hotel Los Flamencos

Great location on the ruta de las lagunas. Big rooms with heating and private bath, big beds with warm blankets. Dinner in the restaurant was great, breakfast too. If you pay by credit card, they add 3% to the bill. If you pay cash in BOB: Be careful with the exchange rate they offer. They wanted to cheat us badly, telling us, this rate was because it's a desert... Of course it is a desert and of course the goods are more expensive, but the exchange rate?

The place is in a great location, very central. The wagons are a great idea a well equipped. The small rooms in the train station are really small. Chris is a great host. He helped us get all information we needed about the ruta de las lagunas.

November 12th, 2018 Island Incahuasi

Nice and tranquil place once the tours are gone. We were told to camp on the east-side of the island because of the wind. Salt is soft close to the island in some places and there are only toilets right by the park office.

November 12th, 2018 Vehicle Wash

They did a great job washing the car for 80 BOB. It took around 45 minutes.

November 11th, 2018 overnight near mineral spring

Very nice place, not visible from the road. The mineral spring is impressive, but the water isn't potable. Don't follow if you are traveling by car. Drive on to the creek. Just before the creek (driving south) you'll find a broad entrance that is suitable even for bigger rigs. If the owner (Elmer) is in town, ask him first. He's very nice and will let you sleep there anyways. If you don't ask and he's around, he'll probably show up for a little chat. Be aware that this place is a sacred place for the local Aymara.

November 10th, 2018 Hot springs of Polloquere, Salar de Surire

Fantastic place to spend the night. Be prepared: No drinking water, no toilets, cold at night.

November 9th, 2018 3 km in Bolivia/ sandy road

A couple was stuck in here for two days and no one drove by... Not a safe place according to the police, because a lot of smuggling is going on in this area.

November 8th, 2018 La chakana mountain lodge

Ver nice setting, good cabins at 48000 CLP (2 people). There is a kitchen but just for short time use - like boiling water for tea, not for cooking meals.

November 7th, 2018 Parking CONAF

Roadwork with lots of traffic. Not very nice at the moment... (November 2018)

November 6th, 2018 Sajama Tent Camp

Nice place to camp with a camper van. Just don't stay in the parking lot... Drive the small way up to the shelter, it's much nicer up there. As there are no toilet facilities, a shovel would help to reduce the huge amount of toilet paper that is flying everywhere.

November 5th, 2018 Colibri Camping

Great place for smaller campers and tent campers. No big rigs, as the entrance is narrow and the three sites are small. There is a huge area to linger, a well equipped kitchen, a big tent to sit or eat when it rains, a couple of hammocks, good WiFi, very clean bathrooms... There is a little shop on site with drinks and some food items. Breakfast is 35 BOB pp. All the staff is really helpful and the host Ronaldo is just fantastic!

October 29th, 2018 Hotel Rosario Lago Titicaca

Very nice hotel, friendly staff. Big rooms, comfortable beds, hot shower, chairs, table, balcony. A bit expensive - 90$ for a double room. Good restaurant.

October 26th, 2018 Tinajani Canyon Campground

A great place! We were welcomed by the owner. He showed us his museum - which is great. Although the animal part is a bit morbid... The price is up to you. There is a shelter against the rain and a fairly new toilet (not just a hole) and a shower. The scenery is stunning and the trails are great. Recommend!

October 26th, 2018 Tinajani Canyon

When wild camping on private land and very close to an established campground - consider how much a campesino in Peru earns. Support the locals. Go to established campgrounds!

October 24th, 2018 A Mi Manera

Café & Restaurant right in the historic center. Great local Peruvian food. Very friendly and attentive waiters. Very nice atmosphere. Great drinks - we recommend Chicha morada and the various different Pisco sours. The staff works very clean. It's safe to eat even Ceviche. They offer cooking classes, which are a great experience.

October 23rd, 2018 Hotel Villa Urubamba

Very nice Hotel with a huge garden, a bar and a restaurant. Very clean and quiet. Safe parking, also for Big Rigs. A bit outside the center. A little pricey...

October 15th, 2018 Encantada Casa Boutique Spa Hotel

Very nice and clean hotel in the barrio San Blas. 10 min walking distance to the Plaza Mayor. Great view over the historic city center, 15 min walk to Saqsaywaman. Fantastic breakfast buffet with "Zopf" (Swiss bread). Helpful and very friendly staff. Every night your bed is pre heated with a hot-water bottle. Don't drive there if you can avoid it! The streets are very narrow and you need to pre arrange if you need parking.

October 3rd, 2018 Wasipunko

Nice campsite, lots of flat ground. Not very dusty and shady trees. Quiet. Internet reached campsite but was rather slow.

October 2nd, 2018 Hostal El Mirador

Nice Hostal with a fantastic view over the port. Rooms a cleanish with fresh sheets, toilets a bit smelly. Very nice ladies run the place, helpful and very friendly, interested in your travels and experiences. The road up there is very steep and narrow. There are signs to help you find the way. See attached map.

October 1st, 2018 The Lazy Dog Inn

Great place to relax and to treat yourself with a cozy cabin or a nice room (no camping!). The cabins have a fireplace, a privat bath, a sofa and good beds. The food is great and made of locally grown ingredients (own greenhouses and fields). The Lazy Dog Inn supports the local communities and works with local workers. A great place, highly recommend.

September 23rd, 2018 Hotel Real Huamachuco

Good option for a night. 90 Soles a double room. Toilets almost clean, rooms clean, fresh sheets. Secure parking, no hight restriction. Close to the Plaza Mayor.

September 22nd, 2018 Laguna Sausacocha

Was defined as established campground. This is definitely no established campground. It's more like a not even flat grassy spot beside the road. Lots of traffic during the day.

September 20th, 2018 Estancia El Chillo

Very nice spot for camping. Flat grassy parking area. Directly off the street, but hardly any traffic at night. The owner opened a room for us to use the bathroom an hot shower. Best contact the owner before you show up. They are not always there...

September 19th, 2018 Gocta Andes Lodge

Beautiful lodge with huge rooms (95$ a double room), very clean, great hot shower. Refreshing pool with fantastic view of the falls. Lots of Colibrí in the garden. Restaurant serves good food. Great location to start a walk to the falls.

September 9th, 2018 Centro de Tourismo Shalala

The place is nicely set in a sheltered little valley with trees. It’s only a 150m walk to the rim of the laguna. There is a great viewing platform. The cottages look quite new, but there was no running water. Definitely too expensive for 60$ (2 persons). The camping is ok. You can camp behind the restaurant with more privacy or at the car park. Very tight for big rigs. The toilets are neither clean nor is there any water. No showers either. The restaurant is ok, but there was no coffee available.

September 7th, 2018 Campsite P.N. Cotopaxi

You could camp at the cafe (toilets, shelter) or in the little forest close by. It can be windy and very cold. In the little forest you can find some sheltered places. Unfortunately the toilets are then 5’ walk away. This campsite won’t be for free anymore. They’ll charge 7$ per car.
