September 15th, 2020 | Lai da Burvagn | Next to a lake. The access road is narrow and only suitable fro small campervans. It‘s a grassy place with a firepit. Do not swimm into the lake!! |
June 22nd, 2020 | Heidelberg, City am Neckar | We stayed here for 2 nights and had a great time. At this part of Uferstrasse you can park for free and it‘s allowed to spend the night here as well. Yes, you can‘t sit directly in front of your van because of the cicle way. But that doesn’t matter for us, we enjoed the large grassy part anyway. There are toilets available. Perfect spot to visit the city (20-30 mins walking). |
March 11th, 2020 | Lubri Servicios Lava Express - Best car wash jn town! | They washed our van and did a very good job. For 30k they cleaned the outside (from underneath as well) + engine. |
March 9th, 2020 | Camping Los Angeles | Overpriced for what you get... ideed it’s beautiful BUT we payed 60k for two people which was the highest price in colombia and there is no kitchen, no wifi (just at the reception but not at the camp spot), shower with no presure. Bathrooms are clean and the area is well maintained. Don’t miss to go up to the mirador, the view is great. |
March 8th, 2020 | casa playa camping bernabé | Wow... this is the most beautiful beach spot we have stayed in 1,5 years traveling in south america. We just couldn’t leave this place and stayed 9 nights. The bathroom is very basic but ok. There are watertaps (unfortunately not very clean water) and electricity to plug in. The people are very friendly and helpful. With wooden panels, they helped us to park on a shady spot in the sand with our 2wd van. |
February 28th, 2020 | Finca Hostal Bolivar | Lovely place to stay. We payed 45k per night (2 adults + van). Bathroom, kitchen and the whole area is very clean and well maintained. Don’t miss to go to the viewpoint at sunset and to the river for a refreshing bath. |
February 25th, 2020 | Balneario Bambu | Payed 7000.- per person to stay overnight. Sheltered tables to use. The „shower“ is in one of the toilets, it’s just a hose coming out of the wall - we didn’t use it. Not the most quiet place but ok to rest after a day of driving. |
February 24th, 2020 | Camping Guaimaro | We ended up staying 3 nights here because it’s such a beautiful place. The whole area with the buildings, kitchen and the outdoor shower is amazing. All as described by others. We really enjoyed our stay and recommend to pass by here and relax some days. |
February 21st, 2020 | Juan Curi Parque Ecologico | Slept one night here and started the 20mins hike early in the morning. We had the waterfall for ourselves. We just used the toilets which were clean, there are showers available. Payed 8000.- for the entrance and 10000.- to stay overnight (per person). |
February 20th, 2020 | Renacer Hostel Colombian Highlands | As everybody has written already: this is the place to stay in beautiful Villa de Leyva. We are in a campervan VW T5 and could camp on the grassy spot right next to the building. The WiFi reached our van. Nice and well maintained hostel. |
February 18th, 2020 | Parking Lot | We came here at arround 14:00, visited the cathedral and asked if we could stay overnight - no problem. Two security guards passed by in the evening. Toilets were open during the night, just ask which one can be used. There is a mostly flat spot right at the end of the parking lot. Payed 7000.- to enter the parking lot. We left before 09:00 (which is possible) and didn’t have to pay another 7000.-. |
February 17th, 2020 | Hotel Plaza 36 | Name on Booking.com is „Ayenda 1068 Plaza 36“. We got a better price by booking through the app then asking at the reception, so we could negotiate a little bit. Payed arround 94500.- COP per night.

February 11th, 2020 | The Lake Hotel Camping and B&B | Beautiful place next to the lake. Tents can stay on the grassy part with an amazing view, vans stay in the carpark. There is an area to enjoy the view with tables, chairs and hammocks. The kitchen can be used and there is a clean bathroom with warm showers - all you need as an overlander. The narrow street could be a problem for big rigs, as already mentioned in previous comments. |
February 8th, 2020 | Hacienda Venecia | A beautiful spot in the middle of the coffee farm. We spent two nights and did the coffee tour and chocolate experience, which were both really good and interesting. We could use the pool at the guesthouse as well. It’s about 10min to get zo the reception by walking. The parking lot isn’t leveled but the rest of the hostel area is overlanding friendly with everything you need - clean bathrooms, two kitchens with tables, hammocks, a little store and fruit trees. 22000.- pppn doesn’t matter if in a van or in a tent. |
February 6th, 2020 | Camping Guaduales De La Floresta | Indeed a very nice spot close to the city center. Clean bathrooms with warm showers. Covered area with tabels, kitchen and a bbq. Recommended. |
February 4th, 2020 | La Bonanza | This is one of the best campings we have been so far in South America. Here you have everything you need, all is super clean and well maintained as everybody else already written in the comments. We really recommend to stop by. We could only spend one night but this would be a place to rest some days! |
February 3rd, 2020 | KAWALLU free travelers | Indeed friendly people, the place is very central and safe BUT it’s incredibly dirty! The shower is hot, but looks like under construction. We asked for a room in the „hostel“ but there are none available (maybe lucky for us, if the beds would be in the same dirty look like everything else!?). |
February 2nd, 2020 | CAMPING LA CUMBRE DEL MACIZO | A wonderful place to relax! We spent 2 nights on this beautiful camping. Pablo is still working on the house but toilet, shower and kitchen are finished and can be used, as well as the nice area with tables, chairs and hammocks. 15mins walk to the parque arqueologico. We payed Total 35000 per night for a van (2 pers) + a tent (1 pers). |
January 31st, 2020 | Laberinto El Cusco | Perfect place to stay in the desert with amazing views. Payed 8000.- per person, doesn’t matter if you are in a van or tent. Showers are not cold as the water is heated up during the day. Safe place, could sleep with all doors open. |
January 30th, 2020 | Backpackers & Travelers Hostal Neiva | We parked in the steet righ in front of the hostel and felt safe. It’s located in a quiet area and we had no problems sleeping there. Costs are 20000.- per night for two people in a van. WiFi worked well even outside in our van. The showers were perfectly refreshing in hot Neiva. |
January 29th, 2020 | Terpel Gas Station | Good place for one night. Surprisingly quiet. Toilet and cold shower available. |
January 28th, 2020 | Las Lajas parking of teleférico | A perfect start in colombia. Quiet parking lot with clean toilets. The visit of beautiful Santuario de las Lajas is definitely worth it! |
January 27th, 2020 | Finca Sommerwind | Everything we needed was available: hot shower, clean bathrooms, electricity, good beer and delicious bread. We only stayed one night but this would be a place to spend some more days. Friendly and helpful owner. Still 6.-$ pppn. Recommended. |
January 24th, 2020 | Jhomana Guesthouse | This place was only marked as a hotel. But as it is allowed to stay here in a campervan we decided to add it as a official campsite.
January 23rd, 2020 | Campsite | We stayed here one night with a nice view on the volcano. Costs $5.- per night to sleep in the van. Toilets are available at the refugio. It’s not allowed to park on the grassy parts, just on the gravel parking lot. |
January 22nd, 2020 | Bosque do Laguna Yambo | We tried to enter the marked place but there were big rocks blocking the way. We found a really good, quiet and easy accessible spot a little bit further the road. A short dirt road is leading to the top of a hill where we could hide behind the eucalyptus trees to be not visible from the street. Might be narrow for big rigs to turn arround. |
January 21st, 2020 | Lo de Fausto | Good place to stay for only $2.50 pppn. No water in the pool, no sauna but a hot shower with pressure, that’s all we need. |
January 20th, 2020 | old road | Good place to avoid sleeping on +4000 meters. We parked our van on a flat grassy spot. Depending on the dimension of the car you’ll be visible from the mainroad. We think nobody noticed us. During the night no traffic, so for us it was quiet here. |
January 19th, 2020 | Quinta Valdivieso Balneario | Nice pool and camping spot. Outdoor showers at the pool. |
January 18th, 2020 | Secured parking, Livingston Hotel | Safe parking. We parked our van here for 17 nights during our trip to galapagos and slept 3 nights before and after the trip in the car - same price 5.-$. The hotel and the rooms are old but ok. We had breakfast for 3.-$ pp. |
