April 19th, 2022 Old Route 60 bypass

Good flat spot next to the old road. Quiet and dark.

September 17th, 2019 Elk Bay Rec Site

Stella Lake is located just to the southeast of here. there is another post at the Stella Lake campspot with the correct coordinates. maybe a moderator can move this comment as a checkin to the correct post.

September 17th, 2019 Kelsey Bay Campground

Price is now $25 for a full hookup site and 1 looney per 5mins for the hot shower. Saw dolphins and whales.

September 4th, 2019 New Hazelton Laundromat

Also has a bathroom and shower. Shower is 5 Loonies for 15mins, 3 mins for each additional looney.

August 13th, 2019 Top of the Hill

Active quarry work has left the road to the upper camping spot mostly blocked by large piles of boulders. It can still be accessed with a 4x4 or high clearance vehicle. We followed a path to a lower, smaller area and camped there. Great views and easy access. The conditions will probably change as they continue to quarry the site.

August 12th, 2019 Rock River

As described, a pretty spot next to the river with plenty of room. Two other campers were there with us.

August 8th, 2019 Emergency Runway

Excellent AT&T 4G LTE coverage at this location for some reason. Dont stop on the runway.

August 6th, 2019 Wild Camping beside Dempster Hwy

Good enough spot for an overnight. Not much room to turn around at the end. We Austin Powered it in our 21ft Sprinter.

July 31st, 2019 Mile 44.1 Third Bridge Gravel Bar

Nice spot to camp right on the river bank gravel bar. Free spot with picnic table and fire ring tucked into the trees. Easy access for our 21ft 2WD Sprinter, but not alot of room for anything much bigger. Close to the bridge but we heard nothing but the sound of the river all night.

July 25th, 2019 Montana River riverbed - by the bridge

Pretty awesome spot. A few guys fishing during the day. Camped right next to the creek on the river-rock banks. Access was a little tricky with our 21ft 2WD Sprinter. Im not sure I would try it with anything much bigger. There is some equipment working on the north side of the bridge, but we heard nothing but the sound of the creek all night.

July 25th, 2019 Chevron dump station free

Ask inside the store for the key to turn on the fresh water spigot.

July 15th, 2019 Camp near 3 small lakes and a creek

A couple spots have great views of the small ponds and valley. Minor street noise disappeared at night. Good spot for an overnight.

July 8th, 2019 Alaska Stoves

Good spot close to town and great showers! $20 for a dry site with dump station and fresh water.

April 17th, 2016 Rest Area with Showers

Rest area with a big parking area where you can park and sleep free, and they have bathrooms with free showers. The showers were cold when we were here. No other facilities.

April 15th, 2016 Ayamara Cerveceria

A nice little micro, micro brewery that grows, malts and roasts their own barley, and uses unfiltered spring water from the mountian nxt door. They had a Roja on tap that was really good. They also jar all kinds of fruits and veggies. A nice big mug of fresh beer for 50 pesos. You can also buy bottles to go.

April 15th, 2016 Humahuaca Wash

A small pulloff on a side road on the way up to the mirador. Nothing fancy but it was already getting dark and we didnt want to pay to camp or sleep in town on a Friday night. Free, no facilities.

April 14th, 2016 Camping El Refugio

The price was 60 per person and no charge for the vehicle. Internet worked good and the restaurant was pretty good. But the bathrooms were really dirty and sorta gross. It was peaceful at night and dog friendly.

April 14th, 2016 Parking lot near city main square

Good place to boondock in town if you must stay in Jujuy. Our radiator blew up and we got our dog papers to go to Chile in Jujuy so we slept here one night. Pretty quiet night but cars show up early on weekdays.

April 13th, 2016 Reinaldi Radiadores

Dude cleaned out and rebuilt the top of our radiator for 500 pesos. Work looked good and the family is very nice. Hopefully this time the radiador will last (knock on wood)!

April 12th, 2016 Camping Municipal Carlos Xamena

It was an OK place to stay and dog friendly. Not the cleanest but everything seemed to work ok. 20 pesos per person and 31 pesos for the motorhome. 40 pesos for a cab ride to the main plaza in town.

April 11th, 2016 El Algarrobal

Great free camping area next to a river and waterfall with tables, parillas, bathroom and running water. Big rigs may have a little trouble getting here since the road gets narrow and a little steep in areas and there isnt much room to turn around at the end. Very quiet at night.

April 7th, 2016 Merino hielo (Arg swap only)

They do sell ice but they do not refill propane cylinders here. You may be able to do a cylinder exchange if you have an Argentinian cylinder.

March 31st, 2016 Camping Rio Chuscha

Correcting coordinates.

March 30th, 2016 Termas Quebrada de Hualfin

Definitely not closed. The thermal shower was awesome. Showers cost 10 pesos per person. We showered and had lunch here but did not stay the night.

March 29th, 2016 Parking lot of the El Shincal Inca site

They charged us 50 pesos per person to enter the ruins. Nice spot to camp for free.

March 29th, 2016 Fruit only checkpoint

They stopped us but only recorded where we were from and where we were going. No mention of fruits or anything else.

March 28th, 2016 Parque Ischigualasto

The prices are now 200 pesos pp for the drive-your-own-car tour, and 60 pesos pp for camping. There is one shower for caballeros and one for damas, and the only legal shower hours are from 2030 to 0730. So needless to say, we only did a night shower. The camp spots are pretty run down, but the bathrooms were good. There is wind protection at some sites. Dogs are welcome at the camp and on the tour thru the park.

March 27th, 2016 Open Space Between Mountains Off The Highway

If you go down to the wash you can follow it to an abandoned explosives storage yard. It is flat and open, but without much shade. We ended up snuggled between some trees in the wash that provided some nice shade. Dark and quiet at night.

March 25th, 2016 Parque Leoncito

Agree with everyone else and adding that pets are welcome. They just ask that you leash them.

March 24th, 2016 Mendoza - Parque Suizo

250 pesos for 2 people and a van. Yes, there are mosquitos but Off worked well to keep them at bay. We stayed here over a weekend and there was no noise from any disco. The bathrooms work, but are only OK. Very dog friendly.
