We stopped here to go for a swim in the river, which is really nice, and then met the Lopez family. It's a huge family we spend the next two days with. They showed us how they make chocolate from the cacao plant, and had many other cool things to show us.

They are one of the original families from the area. They are super kind and are protecting the environment and area, and we recommend that you meet them! They discovered and named many of the cool places in the area.

This place has an awesome cerviche/ fish plate.Probably the best plate, and deal in South America. It's awesome and it's 10 sols. When I was at Autolac mechanic, I ate here everyday. It's a blue restaurant.

This place is awesome, the best I've seen for what they do. After waisting 5 days in Diesel La Paz with Pacifico, I was recommended this place by a Local enthusiast. This shop is clean and super professional, with an awesome price. They work on steering boxes, rack and pinon, steering pumps, alternators, starters rotors, probably more things too. They totally replaced the guts of my pump in 4 hours and have testing machines and everything. They work on American vehicles as well. Real local price, and no guess work.

This place is terrible!!! Maybe the first people who used these mechanic had good experiences, and we've met some of them, but we've been traveling S. America for 1.5 yrs and been very hard on the truck, see a LOT of mechanics, and for the great reviews they have, they are the WORST! These guys are so slow, like lazy slow, are disorganized, and for me they were fixing unnecessary things. Also really tried to cheat us in a few ways. A small job turned into 6 days of pain and terrible vibes. They finally put the truck togeather without fixing the steering problems and the next day in a serious shop we got it fixed perfectly.
Here Pacifico broke the hydro boost spool valve when dismantling it and Eduardo tried to charge us $898bols for it! I really asked him why we would be the one to pay for something they broke, and he had nothing to say.. We went through the rest of the bill and canceled half of the cost as well and I guarantee it's not the local price, not even close! It's whatever they can suck out of you. They put our new aftermarket fuel filters on reverse (such a basic task) which failed a few days later. I'm so happy we had a backup set for 25,000km later, l put on. The fuel gauge connection broke and we went back to get it fixed again and it broke a second time. They tried to diagnose the fuel pressure with the wrong gauges on the wrongs hoses, and I was showing them and translating from the factory manual and Internet to explain it was wrong and they continued trying their way. Pasifico was so rude and miserable to deal with after that. I asked them for a grease gun and it took them 3 days to get it and it was basically empty. They didn't have a tire inflator. There was a Chilean whose had his truck there for a painful 3 months, and had nothing good to say either. We were in La Paz for a long time, and had met a few other local enthusiasts by chance who had bad experiences as well. To find an o-ring, a real great shop will send a guy to find it and the guy won't come back until he does. Here the owner Eduardo goes, and for us it took 3 days. I could write a 10 page letter from then 6 days we were there. These guys do diesel motors, slow, and guess work.

March 8th, 2017 Police Station/Toll

We passed by when it was getting dark, and no one bothered us, and we didn't pay anything. We haven't paid a bribe in any of the 17 countries in 15 months. Not for crossing the death road for example or anything single other thing. Sometimes we just give money or other things to the really less fortunate people out there that we would not like to trade places with. I've been kind of almost put in jail a few times, and had some amazingly interesting and long conversations with authority figures, but eventually we keep on rolling

February 16th, 2017 Toni Danieli Mechanica

Great mechanic, super nice guy, can work on little cars to big rigs.

February 9th, 2017 Sam Carwash

These people do a very good job washing vehicles, for a very fair price. Our truck was full of sand from our dogs everywhere and now it's very clean. Also I asked them to clean underneath and it's really clean now too. They have many special products, not just a vacuum and a hose. Best wash I had for a low price in South America.

February 7th, 2017 Green House

Cool place, very accommodating people. Safe to park outside, I did for 4 days. They have lots of amenities, and if you need something I'm sure they can help you out.

This place is great, we met the owners Alice and Claudio a great couple through another group of people we met in Florianopolis and they are super kind people! This company does tours to go see Dolphins, and other things during the trip.

There's nothing about the dolphins on Ioverlander, and this area is really beautiful, has good vibes, is super safe, everyone is friendly, not so crowded, and you can park anywhere.

Also Cynthia who's part of the team, gives awesome messages! Her number is (48) 999401510.

These guy are good, and honest, I enjoyed coming here. I've been to soooooo many mechanics since I left Canada because I'm very hard on my truck, and I recommend coming here. If they can't fix it, they will be able to recommend someone. Argentina is expensive for repairs but these guys are fair. The owner is Jorge.

Good place for an alignment and grease

October 15th, 2016 Rapid Wash And Oil Change

Good place to get an oil change. Recommended by a Dodge Ram enthusiast, they had the filter there witch was cool too, because that's usually not the case. Also got a wash done, because my truck was caked with dirt, and they did a great job.

September 13th, 2016 JM Mechanic

Rickie is the owner, they went through my truck all day, and we tightened a few things and replaced a few others. Pulled a trouble code aswell. Very thorough, and had a good time chillin with them as we fixed the truck. Tell them what you need and they will spend the time handling it. I went to the Mercedes guy, and he recommended I got to this shop. Happy customer:)

September 6th, 2016 Micro Austral Bus Restaurant

This is a cool restaurant in a bus! Has a warm fire for the cold winter nights.

September 1st, 2016 Pescaderia Del Sur

This family sold us fish two days in a row. They have a boat and catch it themselves. Some of it its packaged in there freezers, and they will de thaw it quick for you too. We were trying to find some fish late at night and they were the only place open. That's how we found them. Their names...Viviana (wife) and Louis (husband)

July 22nd, 2016 Good Place To Sleep

There is not many free places on overlander in La Paz, but this place is good, we parked here on two different occasions and its close to a lot of bars up the street and a park, but it's nice and quiet. Next to the police station and a little church senor a deal Carmen. I felt safe. Park exactly across/ infront of the church

July 20th, 2016 Basic Food

This is one of the only places in town that has food. It's tasty after almost having a heart attack on the way here from Mapiri this morning.

July 19th, 2016 Parking Lot

A few places I checked out wouldn't let me sleep in my car, and or were not very flexible. These people where cool and let us sleep in the truck and didn't care about our dogs. It cost 8 Bol. (They have a cock fighting ring they use in the weekend).

So based on the other comments I've read about AutoLac, I decided to go to see them. Man what an awesome garage, Ive been driving off road/ hardcore roads the whole time since I left Vancouver, and have been to many many garages, fixing my truck. I've been very fortunate with the garages I've picked, but if there's a winner it's this one. This is Renzo's garage, and man he is a great hearted person, who use to race bikes, cars and has a huge passion for driving. Between Quito Ecuador and Santiago Chile, it's a long way and if you can see him he will really make sure you know how your vehicle is doing, and does put in a huge effort in finding anything you need, and coming up with solutions. All the other comments are accurate, so I don't need to repeat other people. He's really thorough.

May 31st, 2016 Awesome Mechanic

My axle seal broke so I pulls into the first appropriate place I saw. Pat is a heavy duty mechanic and did the whole repair that night. Good guy, good price, I ended up staying there for the night. Place dosent look pretty but him and his guys know what there doing. Also checked the rest of my truck out.
