Great rest location, really quiet even if the road is nearby. We were not the only car there but everyone was resting for the night or just quietly enjoying a in-car meal.

Great free overnight parking lot on the water looking across from Canada. Only downside is the big barges coming through will sound their horns so you will have an early wake up call.

Nice isolated spot up a bit on a hill with a view of Wilson Peak. There is an adjacent spot to this one that, with both, could accommodate a large party and many tents or a few RVs. Dirt roads to get here but very passable when dry. It was somewhat to very windy the entire time I was here. Good shade trees. Very isolated, I saw a few campers earlier up the road but I was the only one camped anywhere near here. Four bars on T-Mobile. A very pleasant stay altogether.

I’ll add just a few things to other reviews. There is water at the trapper campsite out of a centralized Spicket. There is no AT&T or Verizon cell service. You do hear some road noise but the road calms down at night.None of the sites at the Trapper campground are right on the river but you can walk to access easily.

I called the city clerk and unless tent camping, all pads are $15 regardless if you use electric or not. If you have kids, better to go to island park just down the road. Same price, more amenities, and less road noise.

Bus/RV parking at Cracker Barrel. Follow the signs. Spent one quiet night here. Level lot. Lots of light for safety so bring your blackout curtains. Restaurant closes at 9 pm. Great Verizon signal. Grassy area to walk your dog.

Stunning mountain views. We followed the signs to Saguache Park, ended up at the Salt House (where there is a pit toilet and Forrest regulations). At the Salt House make an immediate left and another immediate left for this wild campsite. Flattish. Toilets are within walking distance. No cell service. Never found Saguache Park.

A large opening in front of the bay beach that is also used as the car park for the Kalaluna Bistro. Park here for one night, but beware that it’s busy with fishermen in the early hours of the morning (5AM) and late hours of the evening (10PM) coming in and out. Incredible view however and safer than next to the “police” station in our opinion.

Do not try driving here from the East via the road from town as you will get stuck (too narrow even for normal cars) don’t drive on the beach either, take the longer southern loop road from inland!

Regular machines cost 2.50$, big machines cost 5$ and drying is 0.25$/2 mins. There is a change machine and bathroom on-site.

You may want to bring a few wet wipes in to clean the dust off the edge of the machine, other than that the place is ok clean.

These coordinates might be slightly off, but it’s the only Pemex in town and it’s near here...

After reading other Pemex double charges, I decided to stop in the Library in town for WiFi to check my credit card statement. Sure enough, there were 2 charges.

I spoke with police to ask their opinion. I went back to the station (without police) and spoke with the girl. She nervously said, “I’m sorry” and gave me cash back. She tried to give me 300 pesos for a $20 charge, but I told her, “no 400,” which she handed right over. She had a guilty conscience. I had a flat tire so she saw my mind on that and took advantage.

In the end, I have 400 pesos in cash and returned to the police officer to let him know all went well. He said, “Nice job!” The officers were very nice. He wanted to send his chief with me, but I told him I’d rather go alone to sort it out.

Overall, all good.
Happy travels everyone!!!
cheers. Be careful with your money.

ASOAVA TOURS. If you hire a trip to the volcano with them they allow you to park in the football field for free. The parking is safe and silence during the night. Sometimes you can hear the volcano explosions. The tour is great, Q250 per person. on the campsite they give you food, a tent, sleeping bag, a matress, and clothe in case you need some because of the low temperatures (Ask before going up). They guides were super nice, polite and hard workers. Totally recomended to take the tour with Catalino. We took our 5 months puppy with us and they were super friendly with her and enjoyed her company too :) .
