Driving down here needs very good offroad skills. We did it with our Land Cruiser on 33" wheels, was ok. Cannot recommend smaller wheels, will scratch the underfloor for shure.
Place is pretty busy down here. Lots of people stayed here in tents.

Nice place with great view. Please don't use the chum bucket. Animals take the trash arround everywhere.

You can pass the night accordingly to the guy. But he recommends the hotel from the Ejido (in charge of the lakes, he accepted that he is recommending this because he is from the ejido jajaja).

Great highway rest stop with amenities as listed with several other cars, campers and truckers also here. A good spot to stop for a night while driving this empty stretch of highway.

Very peaceful as described. Maybe a dozen campsites. With outhouses! Only one other tent camper here on Labor Day weekend. No camp host or ranger. Kind of an abandoned campground. One Verizon bar. Room for big rigs.

Take the right onto the gravel road right after the sign for Freshwater Inn.
We didn’t actually stay here but we thought it was nice and there are no “no camping “ signs.
There’s a lovely large gravel area that’s flat and suitable for rigs of all sizes. The 1.5 km trail to the point is beautiful and there were lots of wild blueberries when we were here Sept 4
There’s two sets of double Adirondack chairs for sitting but no other facilities
Leave no trace!

as said before, beautifully created rustic camp with little domed huts and small campsite. you can easily spend a two days here playing puttputt, taking a ride on the zipline, going for a walk to the nearby springs and fossils, but be aware that this is elephant country and we did come across some elephants while walking.
but the greatest asset is the owners Andries and Jean who helped us get the car off the pan after we got stuck and made us feel very welcome in the 3 weeks that we were here. Andries helped us with towing the car after we had a mechanical breakdown as well and getting it fixed in Francistown. Andries and Jean were extremely helpful over and above all expectations. thank you, Andries and Jean , for your help and hospitality.

A nice spot which has 2 cooking shelters and a great view out over the lake. Can hear the traffic but once it gets dark, the traffic reduces to nearly nothing.

This is an established site that’s undergoing a full restoration… that’s to say as of today it is no where near finished!
Located 20km south of Guilmime on the N1. Easy to find using GPS.
Ok for a stopover and I’m sure all amenities will be completed in the coming months.
They charged me 50 MAR for one car with roof tent and one person.

Around sunset, a fire truck guy pulled up and said I am still in city limits and camping here is prohibited. Appreciated the heads up but seems it is a no-go now. It is a holiday weekend, perhaps they are more lenient during the low season

FREE camping next to the lake. Right on the beach. Fire pits with grates at the sites. Great walleye fishing lake.
Seemed like a lot of cars driving down the road, not sure if this is normal, but it created a lot of dust and the sites are right next to the road. Also, the cars were going faster than they should so keep an eye on your kids.
Great cell service with Sprint/T-Mobile.
Things to note: there is game hunting allowed near by. Rattlesnakes live here. Bring your own firewood, water and power.
Our site had a LOT of ants, many ant hills, winged ants, etc.
We will return here again!
Edit: might not be back. Way too many cars driving up and down this camping “road”. And apparently there is a bar with a live band across the lake. So much for peace and quiet.

Canadian Recreation Site on the Lake. Although close to the gravel road, road traffic has been light. Few level sites although the portion on the south side is adequate. Probably 4 usable sites in this unmaintained location.

Loons on the water made for a peaceful setting

Endroit tranquille et calme: beau ciel étoilé en prine! Pas de toilettes, mais petit boisé (le papier toilette ne se ramasse pas tout seul ;) on a trouvé un endroit qui était plat.

Very dirty because people threw their tissue paper everywhere! Upsetting for such a nice spot to camp. There is a fire pit but fires are not allowed. Please try to leave campsites better then you found them.
Worked great for one night while pulling a trailer. No cell service either.

Beautiful with a clean spot next to a decent beach. There was a fire pit and picnic table for our use. A wide RV may have a hard time getting down the lake but there was other decent areas to park.
