A grassy pull out on Sun Peaks Road FSR. Active Haul Road but this pull out doesn’t appear to be used during normal operations. Signage says the road is closed during the winter. Quite in the evening, vehicle traffic starts around 8am, no logging trucks seem to come through on the weekends. Can easily fit two vehicles.

Bumpy road up the mountain. Low gear and good suspension certainly helps. The track up the hill is “blocked” off with rocks, but there is space for a couple of cars by the road.

Entered Uzbekistan through this port again. The Kyrgyz side was very fast and no real check. At the Uzbek side the saw a laptop. The guard saw this as a opportunity to go through a lot of personal videos. At a certain moment it became quite intrusive, we asked him to stop since there was no important stuff there anyway. He continued until his boss summoned him to stop. This made him annoyed and he wanted to check everything again. Long story short: hide your laptop and camera.

Quiet for a night! No problems. This isn’t the most scenic spot, but we really enjoyed the peace and privacy. There are some deep grooves in the dirt road off the main highway, but it’s very manageable now during the dry season. A fine spot to stay & there is still very minimal garbage (:

Really nice place. A little party until midnight but wasn't too much for us with earplugs. Calm after that and the morning no sound until 7/8. Good humitas at the cafe on the corner.

We stayed one night (Saturday) with overlanding friends in the vehicle beside us. We had a wonderful stay. The beach was very busy during the day and we met lots of nice people. At night, we had the beach to ourselves. No issues or even bad vibes. The next morning, university students came to do a survey about the impact of COVID on tourism. The place filled up again. The water is perfect for swimming—clear and a great temperature. No complaints. We probably wouldn’t stay by ourselves, but have only the reported stories to base this on (not our personal experience).

Works perfekt with a van. And I think its the only place on the island where you can spend the night without taking a gravel road. One picnic table. Some people in the evening were noisy, but didn‘t stay long.

There are about 6 dispersed campsites with fire rings along a small stream. Most of the sites are large and would accommodate a few big RVs. The road in is gravel but in good shape. There is a pit toilet at the beginning of the road by the trailhead.

I think we stayed at the Hotel on the other side of the road, Nanga Parbat Hotel, slept in the van on the car park for 500 a night. But: The road to the village is a bit rough but doable in a 2wd van.

Regarding trekking: even after long discussion with the police it is not allowed to do the Trekk to the base camps on your own. You need a guide, a porter or a police man comes with you. We insisted, wouldn't pay for something we don't need and at the end we were partially accompanied by a police man. There are no security issues, the path is easy to find, glacier crossing is no problem but "it's their duty".

Very nice gated Finca with amazing owners. Very friendly and so giving. We had a wonderful stop here and its a great place. Shower and toilet provided. They made us very good food for us and our two boys. I highly recommend you stay here after landing and getting your rig from the port I’m Cartagena. It’s very close (45 minutes) from the city and allows you a safe, grassy stopping point to get your rig organized before moving on with your adventure. We emptied a lot of our contents out on a large mat and got cleaned up! Not expensive, and very pleasant.

Forest service campground. Two loops. Electric 20, 30, 50 amp., water onsite. $20 a nite, 10 with pass. Next to Lochsa river. Picnic tables and fire rings. Nice and quiet. Labor Day weekend, almost full. Haven’t seen restrooms yet, but they gotta be here somewhere.

One of the best campsites in northeast Brazil. Excellent structure, gas shower, water, 220v electricity, dump station, well demarcated areas, large communal kitchen, bathrooms always clean. Best of all are the hosts, Manu and Rubens, who make the place become one big family. Location is excellent to do the South part of Chapada Diamantina.

Go approx 2km down the road and you will find a parking lot with space for about 3 cars. We stayed here without problems, beautiful spot right by the lake.

Different prices depending on the spot you chose: wind sheltered, refuge or simple ground with a table. We went for the most basic one for CLP 7'000 pp (low-season price). We were super protected from the wind and didn't need more. It was extremely quiet for a Saturday as we were the only guests. We had the opportunity to fall asleep with the sound of waves nearby. Hot showers available provided by solar energy. Nice and attentive owner.
