just before the bridge turn left. lots of flat space for campers of all sizes. there were 6 campers/cars when we went.

right by the lake so nice sound of waves that drowns out the road (not busy anyway). short path takes you to a drop toilet (had toilet paper) and lots of flat land that was good for pitching a tent. nice views too! good spot

Mexico - Guatemala
Relatively easy process, even with my next to no Spanish. Got in at 09:30 and followed the steps from another user.
1. cancel TIP (big white building)
2. Stamp out of Mexico (small white building)
3. Drive across to Guatemala
4. Stamp into Guatemala (building behind the truck)
5. TIP for Guatemala (in the truck)
6. Get paperwork and walk up (approx. 200m) to hardware store/bank to pay for it. Motorcycle = 450MXN/178GTQ (probably got screwed a little on the “service fee” being a gringo)
7. Walk back to the truck and hand them the paperwork
8. Hit the road.
No Fumigation needed for me apparently. Don’t ask me why.

I think the only reason it took so long was the wait to be stamped out of Mexico…seemed to be easing themselves into the day by standing around having coffee and a chat before serving me (30min wait and was first in line) and the old fella on the Guatemala side doing the TIP paperwork probably needs a bit of computer training.
Can’t complain though. Welcome to Guatemala!!

DON’T BOTHER!

Charged me 100 Quetzals for me alone with a tent and motorcycle. Non negotiable. Fair rip off.
Seemed like a nice place at first then progressively went downhill.

Camping area wasn’t maintained and the showers were cold. Bathrooms were average at best. Road noise through the night and they turned off the power in the camping area at about 6pm just as it was getting dark.
But the real kicker was that they neglected to mention they were hosting a triathlon coming right through the middle of the campground starting at 7am. Made worse by a truck pulling up 3m behind my tent (lights on and engine left running) at 5am for them to setup barriers and a PA system which was then tested with blaring music from 6am.
Needless to say I packed up as the competitors were arriving and got the hell out of there. I also think if I’d not left when I did that I would’ve been stuck for the morning as they’d blocked off the only way in and out.
The upside…nice enough view. But I don’t think it’s worth the 100 quetzals.

250 pesos for (small) double-bed. Rooms fairly clean but could use a new paint job.

Safe parking on the property.

Okay for a sleepover and starting point for road 182 to Tuxtepec (around 5 hrs from this place).

Nice spot in the desert. We arrived as the Humberstone site was closing, but the guard said it was perfectly fine to camp overnight. Fairly windy in the evening (coocking challenge!), but quiet at night. Beautiful starry sky and felt like we had the entire desert to ourselves, except for some distant lights of Humberstone/mining sites.
This spot is perfectly fine except for some default trash, but the next day we discovered there are decent dirt roads going into the desert behind it, with many more good options for 4x4 with high clearance.

Go to the showers at the pool in Stovepipe wells instead of these. Those are only 5 bucks a person instead of a ridiculous 14. Everything at this spot is overpriced, even the gas which was a dollar cheaper a gallon compared to stovepipe.

Amazing place indeed. Drove until we saw the little town then turned left offroad. Camped surrounded by beautiful hills, at 1800 hrs the shepherds and their herds return to town, at 0600 they leave again. Massive dogs came over for a friendly sniff.

It‘s a parking spot where you can stay up to 48hrs. It‘s free and flat. You can dump your water waste.
You are not allowed to „camp“ (put your table or anything outside, etc.).

I would‘t recommend sleeping at the waterfall nearby if you have anything else than a tent.

The cheapest option to sleep in Dalaba. This Catholic centre offers 3 room categories:
-60,000 Gf / night: one twin size bed, collective toilet + shower
-80,000 Gf: two twin size beds, private shower and collective toilet
-120,000 Gf: two or three beds, private bathroom
The rooms are simple, nothing fancy. There’s a desk, mosquito nets over the beds, and a lock on the door.
There is an onsite restaurant with fresh vegetables from the garden but it isn’t currently running because the nuns are too busy with another activity.

Quiet, small informal campsites. 5 campsites just past the day use area with a pit toilet and trashcans that are a short walk from the campsites. Sites are private and large. Lots of great birding by the nice mountain pond that is stocked with rainbow trout. There are a lot of great hiking trails right from the campsites as well.

proper of-the-beaten-jungle- survivel- trek. You'l go into the jungle for intensive walks with a heavy backpack, cross rivers, make a base camp, look for food,....unfortunatly we underestemated it a bit and my girlfriends bad ankle played a big part. Renato did his best to change his original plan and made an alternative program. When we decided to go back early he even agreed to give back some of the money we paid. recomended if you are lookig for a jungle adventure ! great guide

An amazing full service laundry mat. The owner is the kindest lady, switched over our laundry to dryer making sure what we wanted for drying and recommended for large sleeping bag what works. Possibly free drying services on Tuesday and Thursday but not positive.
Was very clean with large washes and dryers. Owner has amazing customer service and so friendly. Washrooms available as well. Would definitely recommend this place!! Also in the cutest town, so nice to walk around when your laundry is on.

For a Richtersveld experience, the road between Noordoever and Oranjemund has everything for free for which you have to pay an entrance fee on the other side of the river. The campsite has shade, grass and a donkey hotwater shower. Ablutions were reasonably clean and I think good value for money for N$86-00 pppn. I paid N$200-00 for the 2 of us as the camp attendant hasn't got change! Yes, it does look a bit neglected but still better than I can remember from years past on the otherside of the river. NWR resorts have the reputation in Namibia of a drop in standards (Etosha, AI-Ais, etc). Same is valid for our National Parks in SA! The road is 2x4 friendly and there is luxury accomodation at both ends, so for a Richtersveld experience I can highly recommend coming here i.s.o. on the other side of the river. Campsite has a nice beach for swimming and canoe hire is N$150-00.

Some nice views & stargazing at this campground. Showed up on a Saturday evening and there was a small group partying with loud music. Thankfully they had good music for my tastes! I was the only other camper here.

As noted by others, the road in was super rutted out. But the party group and some hikers that stopped by the next day all had cars so I guess cars can make it in!

Spot in the shade under the trees and by the river. The path is accessible at the end of the road. We talked with some very nice locals. Be careful not to get too close to the water as the river sometimes overflows. The police came to see us at 3am for a control but they let us sleep here without any problem.

Here we had our 220V —> 110V transformer repaired. The man told us he didn’t know this type of equipment, but he wanted to help and have a look at it. He managed to repair it, it works fine again. He does electricity repairs, also on cars, so might be good to work on campers too. Not cheap, but this is Uruguay.

I have to make a correction, the price was $ 58 not $ 48. And that in low season.

Super nice place…. Choice of at least 10 sites…. There are probably 14 actual sites. Trains do run regularly, but totally worth the stop!
