Catholic mission a bit further from the main road. Clean and calm. They have dormitories (mine was 6-bed but I was alone) for 2000CFA, and a walled garden to park every type if vehicle or pitch a tent. Bucket shower and toilets outside. Nice and cheap option before crossing into Ghana.

Last review is incorrect: it’s in the right location actually. As described: it’s a gate (with no signs whatsoever, but a doorbell to ring) next to the farmacy.
The people here are amazingly nice. We stayed two nights in our van at the parking lot for Q50 p/n including use of bathroom and hot shower. Then we left our van 1 month here while we stayed in a homestay. We paid a bit less than 45Q per week (if you only stay a week it’s 45Q) to park it there. We could have access to it whenever we wanted in that time. Pricing for sleeping in it is higher, because then they open the bathroom for you. But still a fair price and the parking price was the absolute cheapest we could find in Xela and actually even in the whole of Guatemala. It’s a church parking, so not an official parqueo, but it’s absolutely secure and we never encountered a moment the family wouldn’t open the gate (between 5AM and 22PM they open it). Totally recommended!

We arrived from the north with 2 motorbikes (tenere 700). The track is well maintained at the start. Difficulties arise later, after crossing the bridge (which is in poor condition). Then it's another story: there are very deep trenches. There are steps to climb, stones to avoid, sometimes deep puddles of mud (watch out for the wooden planks that have been added to the bottom, they are invisible under water and very slippery for motorbikes). There is also a river crossing. Pay attention to the water level. Our tenere passed but we didn't have much room. It's fun if you like off-road and challenges!! Pay attention to the weather. We wouldn't have done it if it had been raining.

First good gravel road, then very difficult track through the rain forest -40.03152, -73.63178

Nice, big spot right next to creek. Fire rings. Dump station down the road next to Hurricane camp ground. Very quiet, a few hunters drove by with dogs first thing in the morning, but other than that, it was great.

Such a sweet family that runs this place! They were so nice and even helped and corrected our Spanish! The food was okay, the chorizo tacos were delicious but the fish tacos weren’t that great. Would go back just to chat with the owners!

New Owners! New Place! This camping spot was a gem of a place to stay off the road. There are lights at night and running water. They also have very clean bathrooms. The palm trees and gardens are breath taking. It just a short 5 minute walk to restaurants, shopping and the mission in San Ignacio.
