Typical Walmart parking lot. I see another trailer in the lot .

The first part of the road is easy for any vehicle, gets soft as you get closer to the hills. Most spots are pull offs along the dirt road. I stayed in the first spot closest to the highway. Traffic noise died down at night & it wasn't a bother. Can be very busy with ATVs during the day. 1-2 bars with TMobile

We arrived in the city on a day of celebration and loud music, so we needed a place farther away, and this place was great :)
About 2 km from the city, we spent two quiet nights here. The only point is that the terrain is steep, you will need to level the car to sleep better here.
_________

Nice clean hotel, with a private parking lot in the back. We paid 220SAR for an apartment with separate bedroom and sitting area with couches. (no kitchen, but fridge kettle and prep counter)

It appears that the municipality no longer wants large rigs staying at the palapas. Last night, the authorities came and made people pack up and move (in the dark), away from the palapas to the area outside of the day area. Maybe it is just on weekends. I think the palapas are for day use only now. If you do not want to pack up in the night, find a place in town or at the parking lot (at the ‘e’ sign), before you get to the palapas.

Update: the above is verified. This morning, we witnessed 3 police vehicles stop at a palapa with an SUV and trailer on the beach and asked them to leave, since they did not leave last night. The police videoed the event and took photos of the truck, camper, license plate, people, etc. The police were very nice to the couple who seemed not to want to leave.

Lovely spot. Small grass ledge that was just big enough for our 3 man tent. Pebbly beach for morning swim in the river.

Ok campsite with huts that you can pitch your tent in. Especially when it’s extremely windy. UWA really try to keep the ablutions clean and water tank full. Prices as per their website. You can pay for a ranger at the visitors center. He’ll be dropped by their vehicle w

Free camp spots on BLM. The further up the dirt road you go, the more secluded you are from the highway. There are other vans/campers today but it was still easy finding an empty spot. Full bars 5G with AT&T.

This is a very remote and secluded spot at the North most Lava Flow Trailhead. From Vekol Valley Road drive up BLM Road 8042 approx 7 kms a somewhat rough and narrow road. It will lead you here to the end. Only a couple of spots to camp once you get here. No fire rings, but a great view of the valley below. Good T-mobile reception. The trailhead offers you a choice of trails according to our Gaia app.
Suggest 4wd and high clearance - no big rigs.

Sergio, the new owner is super nice. This place is awesome, in the palm trees right by the river doesn't get much better. No signs yet, but drive in by the little house. They are working on building a bathroom. should be ready in a few weeks. They are also cleaning up from the hurricane. But wow loved this place. 200 peso per night. Only thing is if you have Starlink, pick your spot accordingly because of the palm trees. works fine for emails and general use, video mettings for work are hit or miss. Data signal was strong so we hot spotted for the meeting then switched back to starlink.

Lovely hotel with pool and beach area. Very friendly staff! We could camp at the parking lot and use the facilities (good shower, toilet and pool). We had dinner at the restaurant in return. Main courses around 10.000 CFA.

Amazing place to go. I do recommend it.
RV area is perfect. Water, electricity and disposal.
In front of an amazing lake.
Totally calm place, no noise. We went in the middle of the week, so we had only our RV there.
New are for showers and W/C. Fully built with wood, amazing craft work. Nicer than my house.
Central area for lunch, shared kitchen, area to wash your clothes.
I will return for sure.

Confirm, bad Filipino for the bike. Maybe the worst I experienced.

Most of the time, you have wind back to Esperanza. Maybe a better idea to push to Esperanza and wake up early the next day to ovoid wind when you turn west.

No really sure you save time to take this road. But landscape are nice en police station as well.

very large flat area, perfect windprotection, firepits (it was very windy, but the windprotection is so good, we could make a fire), space for a lot of tents, lake behind the trees, water of the lake seems to be potable (with filter?), a big rock to watch the lake and sunset, trashbin, very friendly neighbours who told us to camp here. only a few fishermen come here.
sportfishing only with license. you have to release the fish!
there are some smaller spots around, also next to the lake, but the big spot here is the place to stay :)
watch your food and the dogs! a dog took our lunchbox at night.

Typical African lodge with simple rooms for a cheap price.. We stayed in the backyard and slept in our rooftent (paid for a room to use toilet and shower). Grace, the owner, and her family were very welcoming and prepared a nice meal for us in the evening. One big downside : the musicbar next door plays very loud music and when we where there, they played till 3 AM so no sleep until then. But a good stopover for one night before or after the bordercrossing.

Bonitos paisajes. Hay un bar con buen wifi, a la fecha la contraseña es: f1a1b1i1o1r1u1i1z1. Espero ahorrarles una consumision!
