in a clearing probably made during road maintenance. room for a small van, kind of level. most of it is raised so not muddy. as far as I can tell it's legal - it doesn't appear as a prohibited freedom camping area on the DOC maps and camping is only prohibited on the main Milford road on the way here there was some bridge construction might be space there soon too. no facilities. free

Exit Russia. The passport control and car check itself took less than half an hour. The waiting in front of the barrier took more or less an hour with only 5 cars in front of us. Only a few cars are allowed through every time. This alternates with trucks going the same direction and with cars/trucks going the opposite direction.

Only spot with trees in the wide surroundings. We parked a bit out of sight behind the abandoned building. Still close to some homes though. Curious neighbourhood kids came to see what we were up to and we ended up playing football and volleyball with then, and had Google translate conversations with them.

Follow the track from the road and then take a left into a small track that's a dead end. Some cow herders passing over the hill, all friendly. We parked right up the track, there are some level places. Nice views and very quiet. You need a 4x4 to reach as the track is a bit bumpy. It'll be hard to turn around for bigger vehicles. It was perfect for our Landcruiser.

Follow the road parallel to main road between Mababe and Maun. The road condition is better than the main and beautiful. We stop at this pan on the middle of nowhere. It's a perfect spot to picnic or a quiet night.
We slept here in family, other side of pan road, lot of flats, shades and hides places.
No car, no human, fews animals, just Nature.
Enjoy !!

Flat parking area in front of La Vieja Adventures premises. Owners are very friendly, speak english and allowed us to use their clean bathroom.
Quiet and secure place with houses around. Main road is at 100m but traffic is not that high and stops during the night. Superb view on hills.
We went with them for a wonderful hike in the canyon.

We spent two nights here, it was quiet and safe. There is a guard at the entrance of the university, in the same street.
Free WiFi from the university, bathrooms available during the day inside the park.

Campground in the Harriman state park. Restroom and shower. Laundry is possible near the office. Playground in the campground. Near a lake. Super calm when we were there (mid may), but the ranger told us that during summer and holidays, it was super crowded.

Edwin helped us filling our 2kg argentinian cilynder with our own adapter. He works at ENI  Mon-Fri. But It was Sunday morning so we went to his house in Ibarra (easy to arrive) to do the refill, so better call or write him before!!  He didn't want to charge money because our cylinder was little he said. Very nice guy.

Amazing spot to camp, definitely got stuck for a moment coming in but 2 cardboard boxes Uber my tires got me out and up the hill, slow reception from Verizon but still service; beautiful rock formation and view. Driving a 2013 FWD Toyota Prius.

The localisation is approximate, look for a green building in front of the post office. we really struggled to find it. They close at 5pm. To get our dog to enter peru WE had to pay 93S and you can only pay by going to a bank, make a payment and give them the voucher.

Large, spacious and beautiful campsite. Foreigners pay 1,100 pesos for 2 people and van. Sunday afternoon was very busy. In the evening almost everyone left and we had a quiet night. Hot showers with good water pressure from 8pm, very clean. But I think there are also sanitary houses with less good facilities. We would come again.

Nice meadow view, great mix of tree cover and sun. Cell reception is good even without a booster. Sites are very well spaced. Quiet, and pitch black at night.

Solid hotel in the West side of town (opposite of the tunnel). Safe parking in garage, hot water (available in the morning and evening) and clean rooms. Wifi is available, but inconsistent. Super steep road leading to it (just the last block), so it's best to go around (it'll become obvious when you see it).

We paid 950 pesos for a double room (May 2023).

Beautiful rustic campground with several gravel sites right on the lake, small pebble beaches and a boat ramp. Some campsites are first-come first-served for 20 CAD/night and some can be booked for an extra 18 CAD fee. Pit toilets are clean. No water, no dumping, no phone signal (except a very weak zero-bar from Rogers Wireless in sites 40/41). Most sites are quite large, some in the woods are shaded and some by the lake get a lot of sunlight.

nice large pullout in the woods. Old fireplace, plenty of wood top gather. We chose this place because IT was too windy right at the lake. Lots of space for several Campers, even bigger rigs. These might rather have difficulties in the the small sandy ways leading here. Good LTE with T-Mobile.
