A quiet spot for a night or two next to the road from/to Saranda - beautiful view above the sea & down to Lukova Beach & surrounded by olive trees - no one is bothering you here

Very nice lodge and campsite. Camping still 500,-pppn. A lot of shade, good food, very welcoming and helpful people. Western toilet, good shower. Everything very clean.

Somos cicloviajantes e acampamos 1 noite ao lado do restaurante desativado. O atendente foi super simpático e nos mostrou o lugar onde outras pessoas já haviam acampado. Apesar do barulho (normal) dos caminhões, foi uma noite tranquila, o posto disponibiliza água quente e gelada, banheiros relativamente limpos. Não pedimos para usar o chuveiro e Wifi, mas acredito que seja possível 😉 O atendimento é das 6h às 23h.

Very small and quiet border post between Botswana and South Africa. Tar road on Botswana side and gravel road on South African side.

In front of the restaurant there are improvised car wash with a water taps with good pressure - just ask the restaurant managers. We needed 400 l and it was not a problem.

Una lugar muy bueno para pasar la noche, solo algun coche de los locales de paseo, pero muy tranquilo.

Basic truck stop. Similar to ones across the country. Had plenty of spots available around 9:30 pm. Slept great, noise but that’s to be expected at a truck stop. Could stay a couple nights if needed or one if just passing through.

Nice level spot. In this time of the year, nobody around, very quiet. Can be very windy.

We could not find this place but maybe it was close so late in the season. More or less at the same location we found Complejo El Rancho

Avons passé la nuit et endroit parfait! Vue sur la Baie des Chaleurs avec couché de soleil magnifique, et chalutiers pour la pêche aux homards aux petites heures du matin. Circulation sur la 11 jusqu’à 20:00 mais très tranquil durant la nuit.

Price still right for passengers, but for vehicles they told us it's 180k plus they count baggage individually - so if you have stuff on the roof like a tent, boxes of tools etc they told us we'd be looking at 250000. So definitely hide as much stuff as possible in drawers / shelves before they look at your car, and try to make things not look like 'baggage' or think up some good arguments why your stuff doesn't count!

Google maps shows a turn here to visit the Cheetah Conservation Fund, but the road doesn't exist. You have to approach from the west on the D2440.

Nice place - a bit touristy and expensive ($240pp) but it's for a good cause. Ideally you'd visit for the feeding and talk, which is at 2pm on weekdays and 12 noon on weekends, except they don't feed on Sundays in the summer. At this time the cheetahs are close and they do a little talk. I suspect you could turn up at another time and just wander around for free, but the cheetahs might be far away. Also has a cafe and gift shop.

Note that access is ONLY from the west on the D2440, don't believe in the road from the north shown on google maps.

Beautiful quiet and desolated place We pulled in at dusk and had a great quiet night However in the morning a tour truck stopped by and the driver came and talked to us. He was kind but told us that camping was not allowed in this area as it is a conservancy and we were also at risk for being robbed by locals passing by. We packed up and moved on.

We were visiting family in the neighborhood and searched for a nice and quiet spot with a good view. Looks like some locals (maybe wine farmers) use this place sometimes. The entrance is some sort of side road (gravel/farmer road) 4x4 isn’t necessary but makes it easier

Small hotel with secure parking in gated area. Ceiling fan, clean room, running water. Shower water was coldish, and the owner asked for us to be back at the hotel no later than midnight, so that the gate could be locked. We paid 700 pesos for a double room (May 2023).

Established large campground with many BBQ areas, a swimming pool, 5-a-side football (indoor and outdoor). Can accommodate large rigs too (height restricion). Not many flat areas for tents but we stayed in a flat, roofed area with a concrete floor. Electrical points freely available. Unfortunately the shower block is being remodeled (off season) so we used the facilities in the football area which are clean but basic. There is a small bar area in the football court where you can buy beer and limited snacks. We were charged ARS 3500
for a car, a tent and 2 people.

The shell gas station is a great place to have a break down. This mechanic shop is located just behind the shell. Our starter engine malfunctioned and the battery began smoking when we started up after staying the night here. These guys assisted us immediately. They have a decently large supply of car parts, and are able to order/import what they don’t have in stock. They work on some of the large trucks/buses that come through here, as well.

Busy place but helped me immediately. Communication was easy because Antonio is fluently in English. Great work. After 2 hours everything was done for a fair price.

A relatively new luxury lodge right before the entrance gate for the forest. There are chalets available but we camped with our roof top tent and had access to separate, and absolutely lovely showers and toilets.

There is a bar and restaurant serving lots of beers and good food. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Plus you can get laundry done here quite cheaply.

It is possible to do tours (birding, culture, etc) but they are very expensive, so be warned. Thet like to charge separately for using their land rovers.

Plus there is no cell reception and WiFi here. Great for switching off, but be warned.

The camping cost 172 cedis a night.

Campground right next to the E39. Very new and clean facilities, shower is included in the price (No coins needed). Kitchen is a little old fashioned and not really comfy, but it is clean and does it’s job. Washer and Dryer available (50 NOK each) There is also a restaurant run by the owner. Good for a stop on your roadtrip ;)

Went to the little memorial and went into the craft store by it. Owner let us stay there and said that we could also stay at the beach by the lookout. He even gave us a card with his name on it if anyone asked. People walking around said lots of people stay there. Wonderful place by the water
