We didnt find any hot showers at the marked location. only outside showers but they didn't work. we asked at the entrance and they said that hot showers are only available for registered campers (10$ per person). They said we could use cold showers, but we didn't try them.

Great spot for a night. No amenities, but very quiet and wonderful views over the lake. The spot in this gps location is large enough for at least 3 vehicles (we were with 3 last night), and there are some more spots along the same road.

Wonderful spot! We didn't spot any bighorn sheep but did see a tarantula and some lizards. Spent two nights here and had a campfire. Great verizon service. Highly recommended!

Almost died here in light rain conditions. Hit the oil slicked steel bridge deck going straight at 80 km/hr and lost the rear end on my motorcycle (50/50 tires. Went down hard and slid around 30 ft into oncoming traffic.

I am very lucky to have walked away with just bruises, likely a minor conc, and tattered gear. Bike was also recoverable. Blessed.

Found this very nice and secluded spot near Chahkooh Canyon. It looks like a lake on Google maps but trust me, it isn't. Maybe after heavy heavy rains it turns into a muddy mess but seems dry most of the times.

Don't take this road as it is a dead end (26.6997195, 55.5273053). Instead take the road via Chahu Sharghi village until these coordinates (26.6912714, 55.5317906) and go off the tarmac road. See attached screenshot.

Be careful after rains as it might get muddy. No internet on this exact spot but when I climbed the rock I had perfect 4G. We saw multiple foxes at this spot.

Our car broke down just in front of that restaurant. The owners (an older couple) were very friendly and helpful and let us stay.

They also called mechanics, who repaired our car right there and didn‘t charge us any „tourist tax“.

We talked to him, because we thought that place could be an Overlanderspot and he said ok.

You‘ll find places to park, bathroom, shower, good wifi and a restaurant (easy, traditional food). The gate will be locked between 6pm and 7am.
They also offer Ecological boat tours.

They let there dogs out, as soon as gate is locked - they are not aggressive but not yet used to people staying over night.

We gave them 25.000 per night.

Si bajas de Quilotoa y vas para Cotopaxi, esta es una buena ruta alterna. Me tocó esperar en este lugar y terminé pasando una noche. Muy tranquila. Es un lugar de paso unicamente. Bonita vista del Cotopaxi

Signs state no parking 2a-6a all around the park, did not stay. However there were lots of vans and RVs there when we drove by around 11p. There are other, unrestricted options on nearby streets — if you drive around a little, you’re sure to find something. Just watch out for the 2a-6a signs which appear in some sections.

Pulled in here for the night after spending the day and taking a surf lesson ($25) in Mano Mano Hostel. It's nice and quiet. I had to put car in 4x4 to get to end of the street. If you are facing ocean the two storey house on the right has people living. They have a tall wall. The left side is fenced, no one living there.

official rate was USD 1 = 825 AOA
we negotiated a bit and got 1=900

BE EXTREM CAREFULL HERE!
We went to three money changers and two of them wanted to rib us of. They used the same hand-held trick:
1. After negotiations they seems to give us a very good rate.
2. They count the money and hand it over to you.
3. You will count the money and will notice that it is just a little bit to less.
4. So you hand it back to them and they count again.
5. They agree with you that there are just a few bills missing and add these bills visible for you on the top of the stack. The trick is, that they at the same time remove some bills from the bottom of the stack.
6. You think now its the correct amount, but in reality they give you much less.

So if you want to change here, make sure you count the bills after all of this one more time by your own! Just after this hand over your money.

NAM->ANG
German passport with car with CdP

The process is not too complicated and very manageable without fixer. (Just read the previous posts)
For us (i think all G20 countries) no more need of a visa. So the only thing we paid were 6400 Kwacha for the TIP (CdP not valid in Angola)
Beware of all the fixer which will surround you on the NAM side and tell you its impossible without them. We clearly told them we don't want them, but they followed us to the angolian side and tried to make the process more complicated for us:
1. First they advised us to skip the long queue at immigration for paying the officers N$100 - we refused of course.
2. They tried to make a big problem out of the fact we didn't have photos of our car for the TIP. They offered us to make the photos and print it for us for N$100, but we refused, took our photos on our own and gave the officer our USB stick with the photos which was completely fine for him to print it out (for free)
3. They tell you the payment for the TIP is very complicated, but in fact it was just changing money and 2min in the bank across the street to deposit the right amount.
4. They helped one of the money changers to scam us.

My advice for this border is not to trust the fixers too much.
I changed money on many other borders, but at this one, here i got scamed. Be extremely aware.
The scam works as follows: After negotiations of the rate, they count the money, but when you count it yourself you will discover its a bit to less money then you expected. So you hand it back to them and they will count again and tell you you were right. Now the trick: They add the missing bills clearly visible for you on top of the stack in their hand and hand the stack over to you again. What you don't see is, that they remove more bills from the bottom of the stack without your notice.
So make sure you then count the money again and just after this hand over your cash!
The scammers agreed on a rate of 1 USD = 1100 Kwacha. We tried this with more of them, and the trick was always the same. One honest guy changed then 1 USD = 900 Kwacha (official rate was 1=825).

This time, they were a bit tedious and asked about an international drivers license but let me go. No mention of my car's missing retroreflector strips.

lugar tranquilo e seguro. Tem que pedir pra poder passar a noite aqui. Ali atrás na área de pesagem é permitido, mas achei bem isolado pra ficar sozinho. Deixaram usar o banheiro e wifi fraco mas suficiente, já que não tem sinal nessa região.

Nice and Cosy place. The road was a bit muddy but manageable.
Was there for one night with bike and tend. River is beautiful. You will be seen but nobody cared about me. A lot of people walking there with their dogs, so if you want to get in touch with the locals it's really Easy.

Designated camping area in a flat river wash. Fine for 2WD. Arrive daytime to pay entry while open. Great camp for hiking to the summit. Download maps in advance. No cell signal. The campspot and the park are in the remnant crater and the summit is the highest remaining side of the old volcano. Wonderful cold sleeping temps.

Nice spot to stop on your way to Las Lajas (or after the trampoline road). The restaurant serves trout with vegetable soup, juice, a small salad and fruit and cheese at the end. When we were there, there was a birthday celebration so it was a little loud. The spot where you camp does not have a view of the lake, but the view of the valley and the hills is very beautiful! The Wi-Fi doesn’t reach to where the parking lot is unless you park closer to the restaurant, since there was an event we parked farther away! It was a very nice spot to spend one night!

we (8 people) could camp here on the gated parking place. police is on the other side of the road. security was there all night.
camping was free when having dinner here.
a meal costs 2000 naira, a beer costs 1000 naira.
generator was running all night, so pretty loud. but a good place with shower and toilet and friendly stuff after a late border crossing.

Beautiful quiet spot. Heard the train a couple of times, but otherwise very peaceful. Two streetlights but still some rather dark areas to park as well.

Russia —> Georgia.

One of our easiest border crossings after 10 months of overlanding. We arrived at 05.30 in the morning and were in Georgia 55 minutes later.

We arrived to very, very long lines of trucks, but we just passed them all. First, one quick passport check where he asked how many people we were. Then we got to the real border where a man asked us to wait while he took our passports, car registration and customs document. After a couple of minutes he came back and told us we were free to go to the passport and customs booth. They checked our documents and asked me to go through our route through Russia (maybe they were just curious as we had driven all the way from Ulan Ude). Then we went to another booth where a woman looked at our passports and stamped them. Then a very superficial look in the car and we were done. Took … minutes all in all.

Drive through no man’s land. We passed a loooot of trucks. Took maybe 15 mins.

Not much to say about Georgia. Passenger goes inside, driver stays in car. I drove to the passport check, he stamped it and that was everything. No car check.

We stayed 2 nights and one day. We loved to learn about a lot of Quechua traditions and knowledge. Chuba gave us a very warm welcome and a great insight on how traditional Quechua live and how jungle can provide food and medicine. It was amazing and so interesting. One of our highlights of our travel and a very good experience. We stayed with a big rig and slept in there. Our two kids (4 and 5) also loved the experience.

They charge $30 to do the health certificate and they’ll give you three copies.
They will give the two account numbers you have to deposit money in at the LAFISE bank.
You get in line and any clerk can do the deposits. Bring your passport and one copy and I used my driver license to give her my home address. I told her my Rivas address as a hotel and she was fine with that.
Take the receipts to the Cetrex-Vecun office near the Bomberos (fire station ) office.
Cetrex is upstairs in a yellow building behind the big blue and white monument near the bomberos. Give them the bank receipts and a copy of your pet passport and your own passport and the health certificate from the vet. They will give you the package of documents you have to give to IPSA at the border.
All this running around to export a pet! Ridiculous!
