We had lunch here. Amazing spot!! We couldn't stay due to our plans, but would've been one of the most amazing spots in a long time. Little paradise for sure!

Perfect place to recharge. The fish are fresh from the ocean, and you can get Victor to take you to the nearby island to see the flamingoes and pelicans. The hospitatlity is without question the best I have had in Africa., and the location is exceptional.

Very pretty farm surrounded by nature and animals. Camping in the trees, basic but clean infrastructure. 10 per person. To recommend

Would not recommend this for women traveling alone. Sketchy and trashy.

Don't go here if you want to do a bunch of laundry (we had 2 sets of bedlinnen and clothes/underwear from 2 weeks). First they didn't want to tell the price, because they had to count all the pieces.. We insisted on a total price beforehand, told them we did not want ironing and folding, only washing and drying. And then they said it was going to be 15 million rial.. Atm that's 30 euro! Off course we didn't do it it here. We did exactly the same amount of washing two weeks earlier in Tabriz for 4 million rials.

Nice place. Very friendly owner. We did not eat in the restaurant. We also did not use the facilities but they looked very clean. One of the very few campgrounds where you can dump waste water.

Standard Cracker Barrel. The dedicated RV spots are slanted and, honestly, that whole lot is. Ended up moving to the back lot by the trees. More level and a didn't feel so exposed with all the roads. Busy roads on all sides so bring ear plugs!

Wide and level spot just before Speaker Rd. starts to branch off into BLM roads. Under huge Sequoia and Ponderosa pine. No cell service. Quiet. No services.

This is a very famous arepera with great price/quality rate. So even if you're not a fan of arepas, I'd strobgly recommend to give it a try.
Their speciality are arepas with shrimp salad and squid stew, $3.5 for one. There also a lot of other flavors, for a lower price. The portions are descent (check the pics).
Be prepared for a long line if you go on weekends. Closed on Mondays.

I stayed for a total of two nights (non-consecutive). I felt safe and there were no issues. I used curtains to cover up my windows and wore a sleep mask (and ear plugs) which helped me sleep. In the morning, I paid $18 for a shower which was worth it for me. Would recommend this location.

Two very private campsites where you can't see one from the other. Paid under $40 with water and electric included. They even had a 240v outlet to charge your car (bring your own cord). Beautiful setting in a Grove of Oak trees with amazing views, amazing sunsets and you feel like you have the whole place to yourself.

Very friendly and helpful mechanics. They tried very hard and were successful. We had to change the fuel filter on a Toyota Diesel and some other stuff. I can highly recommend this auto repair shop.

super beautiful spot on the river close to a village. Nice view to the mountains! There are many places available...just drive along the river and check for your perfect spot. We was close to the trees. The location is the entrance of the place!

Liked staying with Pieter a lot. He took two of us into Kasanka for a whole day to see the bats, from 4am to 7pm, for only 700 kwacha, and the campsite was cheap. He used to work at Kasanka and so knows the park really well and took us to amazing viewing points and also to see other animals. Would really recommend going with him. Enjoyed having a GnT with him in the evening and he took us on a tour of the farm. Two points though: 1) THe location has changed so get in touch with him to find the location. 2) There were many bugs, including things small enough to get through our tent netting. However, he was busy working on a new-and-improved campsite nearby where hopefully the bugs would not be an issue.

German passports.
After trying at the DRC embassies in Nairobi and Kampala which only give visa to residents we tried here and could easily get our transit visa.

When we arrived there unfortunately the person in charge was not there, but the personnel were very friendly and said we should come next day.

We needed:
- Filled application form (we got from the embassy)
- 2 passport photos
- passport with 2 blank pages
- $20 in cash
- Congo Brazzaville visa already in the passport
- yellow fiver vaccine certificate
- letter explaining why we were applying here and about our route details of our journey

They took photocopy of everything by themself, no need to bring copies.

You get a receipt, which you take to the nearby bank, deposit your dollar there and come back with an other receipt.

All in all we had our visas in 3h for $20 each! Amazing. They also have a very clear process there which we never saw at another embassy in africa so far.

We will return
This was our 2nd time camping at this location

BAHIA DE LOS ANGELES
The road in from the highway as well as the road to La Gringa had received recent hurricane damage. Although road crews have gotten both roads to a point where any vehicle of any kind has no challenges.

LA GRINGA
Beach Front Boondocking Location
Free

A spit of land surrounded on three sides by water. Large rounded rock makes up the beach with compacted ground driving in/out

There are more beach front spaces than demand and therefore you are guaranteed a beautiful view upon arrival.

Be aware that high tides in correlation with full moon will bring the water up and very close to your vehicle... although nothing to worry about as the ground itself is solid....

PAYMENT
We camped without payment.
Nobody came around our vehicles requesting payment for our stay.

We were approached by a man driving a white pick-up truck wearing an orange vest claiming to be the camp host for payment and..... we were also approached by two young ladies, claiming to be from Bahia de Los Angeles...asking for donation for keeping La Gringa clean.

Interestingly.. using Google translate... the host claimed he was allowed to collect monies.. although we declined. Further the girls from town claimed there is no official camp host and that there is no fee to camp. They only ask for donation for what they do in keeping the area clean.

AMENITIES
We found Camp Archelon (you will drive past coming to La Gringa) was a very nice experience... with clean bathrooms, hot showers, a great restaurant and a nightly sushi on the beach set-up. Antonio and his staff were excellent and VERY accommodating should you need something further in regards to camping.

DUMP
There is a dump for $10US at Daggits... another camping location after Camp Archelon... on your way down the road to La Gringa. Due to reviews and then our own on-site visit, we were grateful that we chose to stay at Camp Archelon after our La Gringa stay

WATER
In town there is La Mission where 200L /50G is about $7US. We did not utilise this location although we did drive by it and witness a truck camper out front with a hose going within.

OVERALL
We would have to say this location exceeded our expectations as there were a few things mentioned within the reviews that we ourselves had not experienced.

We had not experienced the winds that many mention
We had no problems with near-by campers or locals and the noise that can be associated
We saw the coyotes, although never at a close distance
We DID see the local police, during the nighttime, drive through with lights on
We DID have exceptional water clarity for our snorkelling (fish, turtle, stingrays)

24h gas station by the freeway. Two large lots (one on each side) where trucks park. There’s also a small lot on the back of the station, if you have a small rig. Regular freeway noise. Other than that, good. They have good showers. Hot when I was here. $10.

Am pulling a 28 foot travel trailer. Stopped above the campground and walked in. It was not possible to park, or even pull the trailer into the camping area. There are a bunch of twisty, unlevel dirt roads through the woods. Camping is clearly intended for tents. Honestly I'm not sure I would drive in with a Class B.
