New management, prices have gone up to 200 ppn. We came because it was a cheaper option than other campsites around, and were too lazy to go to a different one. Not worth the money at the moment, maybe in a few months when they sort out some things. View of the highway from the campsite, private ablutions and lapa clean but everything could use some maintainance. Could be a very nice place with views of the dam and a nice restaurant/playground area, but the campsite seems a bit neglected.

Simon is absolutely fabulous. He has knowledge that no one had on my old T1 allrad and was so meticulous that he wouldn’t let me go before double checking everything. We’ve been working 8-21 together and the price was definitely fair.
Defender / Mercedes G wagon specialist, but can fix anything really.

You can find this place on AirBnb in Talas village near Kayseri, the name on the app is the same as this overland title and the host is Muhammed Ali.
We paid around 10 euro (350 tl) for 2 people per night.
This is not common camping but a garden created by Ali with a container house where you can sleep and cook your meels. At the moment he doesn't have a bathroom in the garden but he is planning to build it, anyway he offered us his bathroom and shower, his house is only 5 minutes walk.
If you want to know a local guy who can tell some stories about village and Turkey this is the right place. He is very gentle and he can be a friend for you.

The chief of a Damara village nearby had the idea to show tourists their traditions. So he created this living museum.
surely it's tourist, though aren't we all tourists and it would be kinda weird if tourists just randomly show up at our home house and look how we brush our teeth.
in Germany we call it a heimatmuseum where the traditions are shared with you.
they are humble, dressed traditionally and answer any of your questions. Your entry fee goes directly to the village to support the kids going to school in kohiax etc.
entrance fee is 130 for a min. 30-1hr. visit based on your curiosity.
we highly recommend it to support local initiatives and to learn about medicine, blacksmith, making fire, dancing, cooking and much more

Good experience. Quick process. Same day service 4 hrs, submit application AM - pickup after 13:00.
Helpful English speaking staff.

Was issued single entry 30 day tourist visa - visa validity 3 months from date of issue.
30 day visa starts on 1st day of entry.

To enter Afghanistan by vehicle you need;
1) visa
2) road permit
3) provincial travel permit
(* officially you need this. The only one that checked for this was the Afghan border official who dealt with vehicle import. All the other checkpoints throughout the country - there were many - didn’t know or check for this document).

Get application form from window on left of Afghanistan Embassy sign.
- complete form
- 1 passport photo
- 1 copy passport
- $120USD (NED passport)

If entering with vehicle tell the application person -( provide original title and photo) they will get a guy to help you apply for the road permit in next building ($25USD).
* When I entered Afghanistan customs folks looked at road permit and passport guy stamped it with entry date. They said CDP not necessary - seems this road permit also functions as TIP (Temporary Import Paper).

* Contact Afghan resident/fixer Sami via WA +93 78 004 3738 for provincial travel permits. (* 1 week prior to entry - do this step last. You have to state exact entry and exit dates - no changes on these dates unless you resubmit request - incurring another fixer fee. You must enter on or after entry date and on or before exit date. I didn’t ask enough questions to the fixer - and ended up reapplying twice due to mechanical delays - you have to submit a “realistic” travel date - you cannot submit full 3 month visa validity start/end dates. I tried.)

$100USD - he sent digital copy via email - payment via Western Union.

* From other posts you can do this step for free without fixer and apply in Kabul if entering from Pakistan or by air.
I entered from Iran-Islam Qala border. Not sure how to apply independently for provincial travel permits without fixer entering from the West.

At the Embassy it’s all slightly chaotic and busy, relax smile have patience - all works out in the end. The staff is helpful and honest.
Photocopies, document print and passport photos, drinks & sandwiches available on-site - ask around they’ll bring you to the services.

* If in need of Farsi/Fluent English speaker / fixer. This guy is very helpful. Works well with Westerners - he’s a doer.

Didn’t have any issues, but around 7am (Wednesday) a dozen or so people started showing up to park there. So, park properly and not across multiple spots. The hotel ritchey just around the corner was a fun place to catch some live music.

2 days of rain and the primary gravel roads are very firm to drive to campsites. Easy in with our 40ft. motorhome. lots of huge level sites. Then the sun came out. The hillsides are covered with wildflowers! Especially on the scenic Pronghorn Loop drive. April 1-3. I only saw two other RVs drive by in 3 days.
