Description

Pre-Incan settlement. There's a museum, videos, Spanish guides. Some walls were restored but there is an authentic part. It's interesting and the setting amongst big cacti on a hillside is nice.

Great and interesting place about Quilmes.
It was 2000/person. Worth it, nice views and a museum with many interactive activities.
Also guides that told you the main things to know about the place, you can pay them what you want

Report Check-In

We visited the museum before walking through the ruins. The museum is very well structured, despite needing some equipment repairs. Knowing the history and skills of the Quilmes people was important. Then we walk in what represents 15% of what was the original city. Exceptional!

Worthwhile stop and definitely worth doing the walk that goes up the mountain above the mirador and joins up across the mountain - shady trees in middle for picnic and great views, if very hot! This place must have been huge, valley over unexcavated but also full of ruins. Good museum and food stalls.

Time line way more complete/interesting/exact about the Quilmes history than the video but is filled with other more or less pertinent informations (lots of other Argentinian/world history facts).
Same for the other rooms, lots of text, not all equally interesting.
Worth scanning the text and reading the interesting one.
Spanish only.
Overall had a good time.

Report Check-In

We did love the site. It's way more beautiful from the top, you can climb pretty high on both site. Museum is interesting. Spend like 2h there. We paid 150pp

Fully agree with all positive comments. Ar$100. That would have been about $2.50 when the penny pinchers turned around in January. I mean, seriously. Well worth it. Very good museum. Video is great, and has English subtitles. All other stuff in Spanish only, but good for practice. Ruins are great. Definitely worth the walk to the top around the perimeter of the site. Views are great. Love the cactus. Guides are not pushy. Big thumbs up.

we loved this spot. slept in the parking lot the night before visiting. very safe. the guard was very nice. it s 100/person-cash but worthed. we climbed all the way up and omg such an AMAZING view over the whole settlement. the museum is very nice and the video made me cry. well done. there are artisans and a little shop with drinks and stuff and a little shop where you can buy empanadas and other foods. it was great.

Don’t know why people complain about the price. The site is beautiful !
Before this, we went to two other archeological site, Hualco and El Shincal del Quimivil, and was both 100 pesos per person. In comparaison, the Quilmes site is much bigger (there were 5000 persons living here), and we had a really good time trekking in the mountain, looking at all the house building at the edge of the cliff and the beautiful landscape cover by huge cactus. Also, the new museum is really well made and complete. The tour took us around 3h. We didn’t thought one minute that we lost money and time.

Report Check-In

definitely worth it.
entry is 100 ARS /person and includes a short explanation from a local guide, walking through the ruins and the entry to an interesting museum.
ONLY CASH –like almost everything in this country :/
we were 2 but only had 100 pesos left, so they made an exception and let us enter. locals are indeed very nice people, come and visit them and have a chat with them. we recommend it :)

Report Check-In

Interesting place. Make sure to watch the video (about 15 minutes) in room 3 before visiting the ruins. Museum is closed between 1 and 2 pm.

Report Check-In

Really nice place with a super modern museum at the entrance (build in 2018). All explanations in spanish but a great video with english subtitles.
You can also get a guide (voluntary tip) to make an introduction in spanish on the site (recommended to better understand it). 100pp

Report Check-In

Price update: 100ARS/person. So we left.

Report Check-In

Entrance is 70 now! Lots of cactus around...

Report Check-In

Warning, entrance fee not written by the road 40, I climbed by bike and was surprised it was not free. The guard let me go for free though after crying it was not written by the road and that I climbed 5km in the middle of one hot day 😁

Report Check-In

It would be nice if there was signage or a pamphlet to know what we were looking at. Guides are available, but only in Spanish. But it's a nice spot for a short stroll and the cacti are impressive :) 50p pp.
