Was looking for a campsite with protection from the wind and finally found a place with slight protection. This site is great with fire rings and a pit toilet. There are some other people here but sites are well dispersed and private. Decent cell phone coverage.
Report Check-InDrove through today on the way to San Diego. Beautiful desert scenery and lots and lots of spots with diverse landscape. We definitely want to go back. Appears to be gravel with not too much difficulty with 2WD.
Report Check-InGreat stop along the highway - the sites are tucked away enough so the traffic noise is minimal. You can drive in with 2wd but need 4wd to get the spots further in. Fire pits. Clean pit toilets.
Report Check-InPrimitive camping with sites designated by steel fire rings. Clean pit toilets. No water. 1 bar or less of Verizon coverage. Some highway noise. Jan 28th: Last designated camp site occupied 40 minutes after sunset.
Report Check-InNice, quiet and clean campsites. Lots of other campers but still very private.
Report Check-InGreat location with multiple sites containing fire rings and super clean pit toilets. The road has some larger rocks and loose sand in the middle, some areas are worse than others, more specifically the farther back you go. Would recommend a vehicle with more than half a foot of undercarriage clearance. Only one other camper. The entrance is very easy to miss.
Report Check-InGreat free campground, pit toilets, closest primitive camping in Anza Borrego to Joshua Tree, Salton Sea, and Slabs if you’re going there next! Very empty when I rolled up at 2pm in February on a Sunday. No 4WD required.
Report Check-InAs stated by other visitors, great place with vault toilet. FREE. I did pass the entrance eastbound and had to loo back to road and campsite sign post.
Report Check-InJust as described. FYI- coordinates seem to be for an actual campsite rather than the entrance. You may drive by it but you’ll realize it right away
Report Check-InNice well spaced out campsites in sandy hills with lots of wild flowers at the moment. Good 2wd access.
Report Check-Ina beautiful site plenty of space! plenty of hiking opportunities. beautiful sunrises and sunsets. vault toilet kept clean.
Report Check-InFree camping, no permit needed. Roughly 10 sites spaced apart nicely with two in a cul de sac that could accommodate at total of 5-8 rigs. Two very clean vault toilets are centrally located. Also be sure to follow the posted signs regarding having a fires in a metal container. The area is patrolled regularly by CA Park Rangers, who are cool but heavily armed. Don't mess with them. Since the area is so quiet, you might hear traffic driving pass on S22.
