the milepost says they are open from noon to midnight Daily. we waited from 11.40 until 12.30 and there was no sign of opening nor any sign on the door to say they were not opening today Saturday. we are keen to support local businesses but they lost business today fro us 2, a family of 5, and a group of 3 in the time we were there.

Grandma's Kitchen! She is a wonderful person who looks way too young to be a Grandma by the way ;)

She wasnt at the window when we arrived but a note said she would be right back and to wait in the beach house. The beach house is to the right of her white trailer, which is at the end of her blue home. It all faces the beach, where a big pebble spit goes out into the ocean. The beach house is quite new, and had big musk ox and Caribou skulls beside the deck.

Grandma offers basic burgers and fries, hot dogs, etc, but she executes it perfectly, it was a very delicious meal. Be prepared to pay her price though! $20 will get you a burger and fries.
$10 will get you a sampling of Beluga, and $10 will get you an appy of dried fish.
People say the muktuk (beluga) is an acquired taste, but I sure enjoyed it. Its slightly fishy and has the texture of raw bacon. The dried fish was awesome.

While grandma was makibg our meal we started a fire in the stove in the beach house and collected some driftwood to burn for others later. She is a one woman show, so helping out a little will go a long way.

Lovely lady selling good food right at the beach to the artic ocean. You can either sit outside or in a sheltered room overlooking the ocean while enjoying home made fish and chips or a tasty burger. You can also try 6 pieces of Muktuk (Cooked beluga whale) for $10, which is a traditional meal up here.

Highly recommended!

Expensive chicken and chips, but that’s to be expected this far north. If you’ve got a bicycle/motorbike, ask the lady where you can camp and she’ll probably say to just put up your tent on the beach which is a lot better than the obscenely overpriced camping spot near the Arctic Ocean sign!

We stopped into Grandma’s Kitchen for lunch and sampled the Fish & Chips, Musk Ox Burger and the Muktuk (dried, salted Beluga Whale bits). The first two were excellent, the later must be an acquired taste. Grandma even has a sun porch that you can sit in and eat to get away from the bugs. Grandma is a sweetheart.
