Several very good camping options at the Snake River east of Huntington with access to the river. Close to I-84, quiet, clean.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Quiet. River was slow and the water level was low. This made it buggier than I’ve experienced previously. Cows wandered by in the morning. Amazing spiders in the bushes.
Report Check-Inquiet beautiful area next to river. Does get windy at night. Some cars during the day, none at night.
Report Check-InNice place to stop for the night and camp by the river. Several spots along the road, some trash left on pullouts. You can hear the train at night and the occasional vehicle drive by, but overall fairly peaceful.
Report Check-InAbout 15 minutes from the highway. Steep descent from road to camping spot makes this unsuitable for big rigs. Another van there when we arrived but plenty of room to separate along a ledge parallel to the road. Beautiful setting on the river. Verizon coverage.
Report Check-Inquiet place, found a large pull out to park and camp for the night. a few people here and there but generally pretty private. arrived late, left early.
Report Check-InYou can visit here in winter with no problems. Road is paved and enough of a thru road during the day it is plowed. Was visited by a deer trying to dig a bed for the night in the snow beside my car. To shelter from the howling wind? Not a single car past sundown. :) Some sizable fallen rocks along the road, take it slow.
Report Check-Instayed just before the pin in a pull out. quiet night, about 10 miles one way from the 84
Report Check-InGood spot! We actually stopped and camped at a pullout less than a quarter-mile down the road. Really pretty.
Report Check-InDay before July 4th and we still got a free spot. arrived at 7:30pm! it is a great spot on the river. windy!
Report Check-InNice pullout, right on the snake. Stayed one night and no one was there. Very very windy.
Report Check-InTake a five mile drive away from the freeway on a nicely paved road. Once you get to the river there are several places to camp. We were here on a Friday night and while the road was busy to the boat ramp, we were by ourselves. It quiets down in the evening and then the stars come out to play! A little windy but okay. No AT&T where we stayed but it came back just a tad down the road. Would definitely stay here again.
Report Check-InGreat spot. Campground just up the road is $5 per night, $2 for day use if spot is taken.
Report Check-InWe stayed one night by the river. Past the campgrounds and up the road a bit, there was a spot for us to park and then walk down a steep lil decline to a flat spot with a fire pit and places to set up a tent. It looked like people had driven down the walking part before but it was hella steep. Gorgeous spot but kind of a lot of trash (we picked up a bit that we could 🤷♀️). There is no AT&T service and a weee bit of Verizon so we couldn’t really finish our episode of Buffy the vampire slayer 🤧. We could also hear some country music 🤠 from another spot across the river but everyone quieted down at bedtime. Lil buggy as well. Lots of people fishing here! We stuck with Annie’s Mac n cheese.
Report Check-InFollowed the GPS coordinates to the spot. The winding road up is kind of narrow and has a big drop off one side, so it takes caution to drive. but was doable in my dually short bus. Not super level spot, but its beautiful none the less.
Report Check-InCurrently here. it's quiet, heard lots of fish jumping out of the water, cows across the way, and a train that runs all day but isn’t too loud.
Cons- lots of flies, tons of garbage littered everywhere.
We’ve been here for two nights now and no-one even parked next to us. Had a fire ring and stars all to ourselves. A few cars down the way and on the other side of the river but couldn’t hear them.
Today, however, a man shouted from his big truck at us that we are blocking the f* road. (We are not parked on the main road. That’d be a silly thing to do) however we are parked at the start of a washed out road and we are Behind it and using the far end of it since we didn’t want to risk driving all the way in. He continued to claim he has the right to fish here (we didn’t say he didn’t), continued swearing at us (we haven’t said much to him). Meanwhile, there are plenty of other places to park and fish down the ways. He just wanted this one.
So be warned. And stay safe.
Quiet, a bit windy. There is space for a few cars, there other 2 cars parked. The Road is winding and narrow but it’s not too long to get to the spot. There is a fire ring too.
Report Check-InNice pullout off road. Was quiet with no traffic. Has good LTE coverage. Used as overnight spot off I-84.
Report Check-InOn Snake River little to south by corner of road, several spots by tree. One other tent nearby. More level spots plus two plastic outhouses. Looks like could be lake but dam must be open as water level way down.
Report Check-InMassive ruts and washout to get to the spot marked, we didn’t attempt in a tall camper van. Found another spot close by but minimal cell service at both spots
Report Check-InNice spots along the road. Very little traffic and easy river access. Warm at night but the main problem was the unholy amount of small bugs swarming around and it got pretty windy overnight. Otherwise a peaceful area.
Report Check-InBLM sure in the Snake. Go east of Huntington about 4 miles on a good but narrow blacktop road. Don’t give up until you run into this great quiet site. I paid $2.50 with my Golden Eagle card. Fishing and scenery deep in the valley of the mighty Snake River. Pit toilets are clean. Fish cleaning facilities and boat launching ramp available
Report Check-InAmazing views! Quiet spot off the road, there is a little bit of traffic during the day but at night relatively quiet. Way too hot to be here in August.. in the evening and morning a great breeze came through.. sometimes a little gusty. Did have full cell service (T Mobile). Train did come by a couple times during the night but far off in the distance where you would barely hear it. Has a fire pit but you’re completely off grid here.
