Description

Dispersed Campsite in the capitol forest, off of Rock Candy Mountain Road. About 10-15 minutes from the highway, and there are plenty of sites in the area. Take a look at satellite images from Google maps and pick out your own culdisac.

Easy road until the last 100 yards or so, which has a few dips to discourage low vehicles. No problem for most rigs. I'd say anything under 30ft could make it in here, but I'm more adventurous than most. Certainly a van or sprinter could.

Total solitude. Great stars and a fire ring. Took a few rocks under the tires to get us level, but it's better than many spots we've stayed.

Close to town, close to the rain forest. Even have cell service on verizon. Great find!

Beautiful forest roads with lots of solitude. The opening at the end of the dirt road we took was an area people must go to target practice. There was some empty shells and garbage, but not bad to stay for a night. In the morning we heard target practicing near by, probably at a pull out earlier on. The road up was clear and 2wd accessible with low clearance. We only saw 1 other overnight visitor on the way up. Pretty area, we will explore more roads and potential overnight spots in the forest next time.

A lovely place quiet and beautiful, a little messy my husband and I had to clean it up but other than that perfect spot to settle down and relax for a couple days

we chose the smaller clearing at the top of the mountain. some shooting debris and a little trash, but it looks like someone did a clean up recently. thank you!

very little cell service.

nice clearing at the top, private and surrounded by trees. felt comfortable letting the dog run around. someone built a fire pit and left an organized wood pile.

Stayed at a similar spot just 500ft up the main rd. Clearance issues on road in, easily solved by using leveling blocks under tires. Shooting trash at side but the site we were at had AWESOME 360° views. Lots of sites in area use satellite maps if spots occupied, looking for cars-de-sac brown shapes with road access on map. Sweet quiet spot!

End of road labeled B-5500 on Gaia. Definitely a spot lots of people have used for target practice. Okay for an overnight, wouldn’t choose to stay here long. Got in late & the morning was very foggy, but I’m sure the view is great.

Great spot! A bit trashed but I cleaned it up. If you follow the sharp turn you end up at a super private little driveway with a fire ring. Great ATT service.

Great place to camp, easy to get to and it seemed like there were other good spots nearby. Just need a little clearance for the last climb but can be done with 2wd easily. Place had some little and clay pigeon remains, but not in bad condition

Dead end turn around about 15 minutes up mostly 2wd friendly dirt road. Lots of beer cans and spent shells. No one besides us up here luckily. Good spot for a quick 1 night pull off if your traveling up or down the 5. Landscape is a combination of forest and clear cut. Although nice sunrises and sunsets.

Found a nice spot on the hilltop here but but the ranger came by in the morning and said ALL WASHINGTON STATE FORESTS ARE CLOSED TO OVERNIGHT CAMPING UNTIL SPRING.

great spot. beautiful views. target practice could be heard in the distance/ spent shells around campsite when we were there. very thick fog rolled in so remember which way you came in.

Report Check-In

Not a great spot. Obviously a DIY gun range, shells and shattered clay pidgins everywhere. We weren’t bothered but locals were shooting guns and setting off fireworks past 11. Roads weren’t terrible but we ended up getting stuck in a muddy ditch in our AWD highlander so be careful. Very weak Verizon service on top.

Place is quite up the hill but gravel road is not too bad. Exact location is dirty with garbage and in the woods but there is a nice spot with a fire ring just ca. 100m before. This space is more open and not dirty and very quiet.

Magic place, but some people leave trash, maybe hunters. Quait, not so windy.
