Latest Check-Ins

Was here a month ago. Since then ownership has changed. Lots of upgrades going on. Clean painted rocks outlining campsites

Report Check-In

This is an absolute gem of a place. A true oasis. We arrived local families enjoying the water and picnic areas. A lady arrived and we paid her 250 pesos and also bought some campfire wood. Had a lovely evening enjoying a campfire and watching a moonrise.

Report Check-In

Oasis! A must stay for us.
Fully boondocking but a basic bathroom available. Swimming in the water several times a day and also cleaning off a lot of salt/sand.

Absolutely wonderful. Friendly owner that hung around most of the time. Some other campers here as well in the two nights we stayed but didn’t bother us at all. Few locals here on the weekend.

Payed 250 for each night, truck + trailer, 2 + baby + dog. Totally fine.
Will stay here again on our way back, totally worth the 15 USD.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place to spend the night. I was here on a warm afternoon and had the whole campground to myself (and my dog). A sweet old man let me know the owner would be by in the evening, he was caring for his elderly parent today. I inflated the paddle board and we went for a nice float & swim. Toilets with toilet paper, shower… the entire campground is very clean, freshly swept. Sign says 250 P for overnight. Very happy to stay here

Report Check-In

Small campground with no hookups. Bathrooms available. Next to a spring fed pond

Report Check-In

Beautiful site on the river. Nice clusters of palms and great bird watching (herons, egrets, cormorants among others). Host/owner(?) Leo was welcoming and working on continued cleanup of the site after the hurricane. Nice clean flush toilets and hot showers available, you just have to give him advance notice of when you want to take one so he can turn the hot water on. Paid 250 MXN for one night. Restaurant didn’t appear to be open but we didn’t ask. Nice bird and river sounds to fall asleep to, pretty quiet despite proximity to the road.

Report Check-In

Wonderful campground! Right on the water, appears to be a spring-fed pond. Great for birders; coots, herons, egrets, osprey, and cormorants. No Wi-Fi or electricity but clean restrooms and tons of shade. Very peaceful. A mile walk to town.

Report Check-In

Still quite storm damaged, but a pretty place to spend the night next to the lagoon. Has toilets but you have to flush with a bucket of water. No showers. $250 pesos

Report Check-In

Happy to pay the owner 250 pesos to camp here. He’s working tirelessly cleaning up from the hurricane. It’s still just as beautiful, but as of 12/17/22 no showers, water, or power, so come prepared. Perfect place to rest with oasis natural beauty.

Report Check-In

Nice waterfront spot. The storm damaged the property but they’re working to get it cleaned up. When we stayed there were some large puddles and a bit of mud because the water is pretty high (compared to our visit last winter). The guy here is very friendly and I’d much rather see my money go into improving this campground than the yurt place up the street.

Report Check-In

Absolutely beautiful.
Manuel worked very hard after the hurricane and he is still working hard.
The campground is at the moment opened but no water.
200 pesos per night.
He also needs a hand.

Report Check-In

Closed due to Hurricane Kay that occurred mid-Sept 2022

Report Check-In

As described the best spots are on the waterfront. The lagoon was cool and refreshing for swimming. The restaurant on site has pleasant outdoor seating. Hot showers on request and hand flush toilets which nonetheless have seats and paper.
In May 2022 no mosquitoes, few no-see-ums at dusk and not many flies by day. Road traffic noise is negligible and silent at night.
No hook ups or sewer drains, strong Telcel signal.

Report Check-In

Absolutely spectacular! Riverfront, bugs and bullfrog singing. Warm winds, dog friendly. Zero worries. Palapas, spacious sites, great restaurant, say hi to friendly Andres. paid.$250

Report Check-In

Nice location next to Lagoon. Amenities are okay. Hot shower in AM, nice cantina and restaurant.

Report Check-In

Quiet safe place to spend the night tucked in the Palms. bathrooms, showers (did not use) and small restaurant
250 pesos for night

Report Check-In

Really cute campground on the lake oasis. Nice views. Level spots that are close together. Restaurant was pretty good with American restaurant prices. Good telcel signal. Dog friendly with room to roam. The spots closest to the road have a lot of traffic noise but just a few spots away it is quiet. Felt safe. about $15USD per night. There is a shower and if you want it heated you have to ask 15 min in advance.

Report Check-In

Cute place. Nice change of place from desert and beaches. Womens toilet worked great, but my partner said the mens was so so - along with meh showers which I did not use. Can park anywhere you want. Kind of weird stench around - unsure if it was coming from the river, but the river is nice nonetheless. And it’s a short, nice 20 min walk into town.

Report Check-In

Level sites right on the lagoon with plenty of access for big rigs (note that the marked entrance route is too tight for big rigs - use the north entrance). We goofed and went straight for a site without first asking the price so we were charged 250p. Live and learn.

Quiet, safe, and tidy.

Clean flushing toilets with TP and a door (the little things, haha).

There’s even a small restaurant here with decent margaritas and good food though the menu is limited. OK to spendy prices depending on what you order but still getting used to what normal prices are here for tourist spots. (300p for large shrimp dish with fresh veggies, 150p for enchilada dish, 120p for large margarita).

Report Check-In

We love this campground, 250 pesos for a beautiful spot on a peaceful river. There are showers and bathrooms, and the owner came around selling locally mad honey and date bread. He also rents out kayaks for the river.

Report Check-In

I’m a cycle tourist. There were several of us last night. 150 pesos each. Not much to add to the many positive comments here other than to say they are cyclist friendly. If you arrive after hours, just pick a spot, set up, and pay in the morning.

Report Check-In

An oasis with a pond to kayak around. Dry camping. Good for a night.

Report Check-In

Awesome spot. Hot water worked and the lagoon is beautiful! Too windy for a paddle but maybe next time.

Report Check-In

Great little spot by a small pond. We were able to walk paddle boards across the road to the lagoon and east 10 minute walk to the town square. Showers and toilets and an epic volley ball court. Road noise was noticeable bit not a lot of traffic. Good telcel lte. We would stay here again. 220 pesos with a little bargaining with Leo.

Report Check-In

I highly recommend this place!! Flat, clean spaces tucked in palm trees with palapas, tables, chairs, grills, right against the calm green river’s edge. It is a very peaceful oasis! I can put my kayak right in from van. They rent kayaks for 20 pesos an hour. Clean bathrooms, with running water, soap, and paper products. Hot showers. Owner let me fill a bucket to bring back to van to wash my hair and give dog a bath. No bugs. No wind. Just the sounds of the birds and nature all around. A little road noise, but I’m used to that in my travels. Great cell, I have Verizon. Price is 220 pesos. Gated and felt very safe last night. Well worth it!!!

Report Check-In

We really liked this spot, truly an oasis with a pond on site surrounded by palm trees. Great for young kids, birders, or anyone looking for a chill spot 3 minutes off the main road. Flushing toilets, can walk to the grocery store in less than 10 minutes, and solid cell phone signal. Kayaks for $5 an hour and friendly, laid back staff. About 10 spots to camp, each with table and chairs. No bugs when we were there mid December. 1 minute walk to a beautiful photogenic spot of the river or pond off the main road.

Report Check-In

nice oasis. 250 pesos, there's a few great sites by the "lake", very nice. Showers apparently warm at 7 & 7 ish ,? when the propane is turned on. toilet mostly clean but basic, classic toilet paper in the waste basket. we'd stay here again at a lakeside lot.

Report Check-In

Place was clean and secure and right at the water’s edge. Hotel in town lost our reservation and I’m glad they did because this spot was awesome. True oasis. Showers, toilets and the dude in charge (Leo) is really nice. 250 pesos for 2 people and 2 dogs. Bring some bug spray just in case.

Report Check-In

Confirming what most visitors mentioned:
A great, affordable and pleasant place for camping. You have got all you need: fireplace, shower (can be super hot too), "natural swimming pool" + water, lovely owner, closed to places of interest, secure......

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot, nice and quiet. very good cell signal. 220 peso per night. we world definitely camp here again.

Report Check-In

Our favorite spot in all of Baja, beautiful oasis, quiet, lovely. Manuel (the owner) is very kind and will heat up the water if you want to take a basic shower. No hookups, no running water, bucket flush toilets. can't figure out how to rate 5 stars.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campground on a lagoon in San Ignacio. Limited cell coverage on Verizon Walk into historic downtown area is 1 mile and the road has a sidewalk. Charges 200 pesos. No hookups Flush toilets and garbage cans.

Report Check-In

Cute small RV park right on the river amidst the palm Forrest. Manuel, the man who runs it, is very friendly and sweet. Basic amenities available, toilets but no running water (must flush by scooping water from the 55-gallon drum of water outside the bathroom), cold showers, no rv hookups. It is peaceful and serene with lots of birds and wildlife around, and great kayaking (you can put in right from your site). A bit of occasional ambient road noise from the highway (a mile or so away) but no enough to take away from the peacefulness of the park, or to effect your sleep at all. There were some mosquitoes around dusk so bring your big spray. Fuel (gas or diesel) available at the top of the hill before town) the last spot to fill up if you’re headed out to La Laguna de San Ignacio. The park is about a mile from the cute downtown of San Ignacio where there are a couple of good restaurants, shops, an ice cream parlor, and an old colonial mission. We really enjoyed our night here and definitely recommend.

Report Check-In

Cute & scenic small Rv park right on the river with palm trees everywhere. Very basic amenities (toilets but don’t have running water so must use a bowl of water scooped from the drum of water outside, cold showers, no RV hookups). Very nice scenery amidst the palms, right on the water, lots of birds and wildlife, you can kayak right from your site around the gorgeous little river lagoon. The man who runs it, Manuel, is extremely friendly and sweet. It is about a mile into the cute downtown square of San Ignacio where there are a couple of good restaurants, a few shops, an ice cream parlor and an old colonial mission. Gas and diesel available at the top of the hill before you turn into town, the last chance to get fuel if you are headed out to San Ignacio la Laguna. I do recommend bringing bug spray as there were some mosquitoes around dusk. A bit of faint road noise but very minor, not enough to keep us from enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, or to sleep. Great place for a night or two!

Report Check-In

200 peso per night. Right on the oasis. Nothing special but felt safe.

Report Check-In

Absolutely beautiful! Only people here. Mui tranquilo! An oasis in the desert. Verizon has four bars too.

Report Check-In

Great stop, Manuel is very kind and helpful. Didn’t use the bathrooms . Showers were a hot trickle , but got the job done. This place has been hit by a big fire and is in restoration, Manuel is working on improvements and it felt good to support him. Kayaked on the lake in the morning. tucked away , great spot for an overlander. Clean, many trash cans, very quiet.

Report Check-In

Stayed a couple nights at this safe-feeling, tidy campsite. The men’s bathrooms were working fine, didn’t check out the women’s but a fellow camper said they were fine. Sunday afternoon had a couple local groups picnicking , one with their Mexican traditional and modern music very loud, but no other issues. At 5-6 pm all became tranquillity and beauty. 180p per night per camp, not per person. Recommend it over the other camp/hotel on lagoon.

Report Check-In

Wow this place is amazing so peaceful so tranquil. Along the river bank, lots of wild life birds, ducks, frogs. No mosquitoes, great paths to town and back, great hiking. Bucket toilets because the fire that went threw the valley burner or melter the plumbing, and the electric. The owner Manuel and his family are great. He comes by early morning to see if you want hot water, and throughout the day and again in the evening. You can rent kayaks to use on the river. Just ask for the paddles do life jackets. Very peaceful. Love the spot.

Report Check-In

Nice location along the lagoon. We stayed 2 nights and had the opportunity to meet Janice and Greg. They are Canadians and help out Manuel (owner) while they camp here. The place was super clean. The bathrooms were fine. Just need to dump a pail of water in afterwards. The showers are gravity fed and do trickle. Manuel will heat the water for you. Can only take one shower at a time. There are 2 showers but once the water is running in one the other one doesn't work. I would recommend this place. Quiet during the day and the limited noise from the road did not bother us. 180 pesos per night

Report Check-In

We pulled in, checked it out, decided to stay. we were met by a woman, Janice, who gave us the run down of the place--she was incredibly nice and gracious enough to show us photos of her old cat 'Stinker'. Love. Janice. She told us to wait for the owner to show for payment. He showed up a couple hours later before the sun went down. Manuel (?) is easy going, speaks alright English, and keeps a decent campground. It was M$180 for the night. I feel like he'd offer you a discount if you want to stay longer though. No wifi but I was able to use data the whole time for messaging and whatnot.

Anywho. The camp ground is super clean with plenty of garbage bins around. The bathrooms are meh. The bucket flush worked fine but they were just run down. If you want a shower you have to wait for the owner, Manuel, to show up and turn on the propane. The campground is right off the main road into town, so it can get noisy from cars driving in and out, but I didn't notice. I did notice the lights being left on all night. If light is an issue for you, try and find a spot further towards the back.

Overall it was gorgeous. Right on the water, you can kayak there if you want--there are plenty of kayaks laying around but I didn't see any paddles. Lots of birds right there to watch. There's a couple resident dogs who are nice and will eat anything you drop on the ground. I'd definitely stay again.

Report Check-In

The lights are on but nobody's home. Literally. Central light and palapa lights on at night. The grounds are immaculate - looks like they were swept just before I pulled in. Not a trace of garbage anywhere. A car with Alberta Canada plates over there. Two horses wandering around - a bit feral, couldn't approach.

The mens bucket flush toilet doesn't flush.

And that's it. Nobody else here. No one at or near the car. No one came by to collect. A little unsettling, but I slept well. Still, I think next time through I'll check out other places nearby.

Addendum - Senor came by early in the morning on his road bike, decked out in road biking gear, to collect. 180 pesos, as reported by others.

Report Check-In

nice owner, alright shower and bathrooms for no running water. beautiful spot but was busy for a Thursday had to wait for palapa to open up. Cant understand why people would throw so much trash about, after enjoying it. 170 mx per night. hopefully there wont be a huge music party going on all night if you stop by.

Report Check-In

Nice shady camp with lots of palm tree for shade. The grounds keep was there making everything nice. Sitting by the river watch ducks and cranes all evening. Every camper was very nice and polite. Vans, tents, tear drop camper and truck campers. They have canoes and kayak to rent and use on the river. 170mx a night.

Report Check-In

$170mxp/night.
I asked what comes with the price : a beautiful setup, hot showers and modest toilets, he said.
We left and went down the road where it's $100mxp and a bit farther from the road.

Report Check-In

We liked the place. Owner collected 170 pesos. Quite at night. The ducks are funny :)

Report Check-In

Pretty nice camping at the side of the river.
First no one there after a while a local called Manuel, who apparently manages the camping came and told me it was a 100pesos to camp for the night. Made it to go down to 80 :)
You will find some nice palm roofs and firepits.
All in all a good place just on the side of the road before getting to san ignacio village.

Report Check-In

Very nice place with a lot of palmtrees. But there is definitly no electricity. Neither at sites nor in the showers or in the campground.

Report Check-In

nice place to chill by the lake, bathrooms & showers are a bit basic but function & hot water. some tables & fire pits & plenty of trash cans. walked to town, about 2km which is nice. got fresh fish & dates. 170 per night with large truck camper

Report Check-In

Didn't stay there, just checked out and went for swimming. Really super nice between the palms straight at the lake/lagoon. Perfect for many people to rest at this lake and make a bbq at their grills at the evening. If you just stay for the night for motorcycle guys and bicycle better stay at casa de ciclestas. I asked the guy what he would charge. one person one tent 100 pesos. 2 person one tent 250 pesos. Totally don't make any sense and due to other reviews as they paid less with a van.

Report Check-In

It’s okay but for $150, there should be doors on the toilet facilities. Not many other options around and tres virgins volcanoes were closed. At least gate was. Could be a great place with some TLC. Was not happy with whomever was flying the drone over us the next morning. Please keep in mind not everyone likes them.
All and all if u need a place this will work. Otherwise push on to some free beach camping

As of oct 2018. Town square road was being demoed and was not enjoyable in the square with the heavy equipment going all day. Best of luck to the Town as it could be very charming Once Construction is complete I’m sure all will return to normal.

Report Check-In

Wonderful location, right on the oasis with gorgeous palm trees. Toilets clean when we were there, pulled in late and owners came over for a nice chat they're super friendly! great place to explore San Ignacio. Paid 120 pesos per night for 2 people in a van

Report Check-In

Paid 200 pesos a night. Stayed two nights. Had a great time here. Bugs not terrible considering it’s right on the water. Had a hot shower one day when we asked about hot. Cold the other day. Ramon and his brother were very kind and do a good job of keeping up the property and cleaning between guests. The shower was fairly clean. Didn’t check the toilets. Husband said urinal smelled pretty bad. Never heard so many frogs in my life. I loved it, husband says they are too loud lol. Would return. We prob had the best site of the camp, in the back corner with palapa.

Report Check-In

A place right in front of the oasis. Beautiful palms and a few palappas. The toilets are very dirty.... 150 Pesos per night. Met a few nice people!

Report Check-In

Even it is directly on the street i kind of liked that place. It was quite in the night after 8 pm. I paid 80 pesos.

Report Check-In

looks to be sufering from effects of a flood. no one around to speak to. facilities in a poor state. Did not stay.

Report Check-In

Not why so many were impressed with this place. I had planned to stay there tent camping when I arrived in San Ignacio but there was no one there and it looked like it had definitely seen better days in terms of the general condition of the property. Didn't feel safe being there alone tent camping as a female so didn't stay.

Report Check-In

Peaceful oasis along the river with no amenities except pit toilets.Owner can bring you fresh water. A little expensive (150 pesos) for what it is but we loved making fire and watched the stars with the sound of the river.

Report Check-In

Open now. 150 pesos. Toilettes. A Canadian from Québec lives here with her mexican boyfriend. They help the owner. Very nice oasis.

Report Check-In

New price: 150 peso per car.
We don't support when increase prices without improvements. Didn't stay!

Report Check-In

Place abadoned, no facilities, I still stayed overnight

Report Check-In

We stayed here late Oct 2016 for 2 nights. Initially the placed didn't look opened but we raised the gate and parked anyway. Someone did end up coming over to collect money in the evening. The facilities included a cement counter to cook on and 2 non-flush toilets (with buggies at night). The campground itself was beautiful though, situated along the water with date palm trees everywhere. Price was 80p/night.

Report Check-In

Closed due to hurricane early September.

Report Check-In

Tranquil and beautiful camping right on the river. lots of nature sounds. Bathrooms are very rustic, and cold shower. it's right off the road and moments after you turn off hwy one. we are the only ones here on a Tuesday in June and found a quite spot away from the road under some palm trees. Even though we are on the river and there are bugs they are not bad. not even setting up the bug net. cost for two and a dog 120 pesos. Kayaks for rent 60 pesos an hour. only 3 single kayaks available. The shower works. just ask the guy to turn the water on. I think hot water might be an option?

Report Check-In

San Ignacio update!! There was a wildfire through the palms a couple weeks ago. Apparently everyone was okay but a lot of damage at the campgrounds on the river. Half of Don Chon's lot was pretty charred and the plumbing melted on the toilets. The next door B&B lost 3 yurts. Los Petates was damaged too but still has toilets that are flushed with a bucket. Showers didn't seem to work. We decided to push on and didn't stay here. Hopefully they got some rain last week. Is it a beautiful place.

Report Check-In

Douche froide quant elle fonctionne, tres peu. Le prix varie selon le client de 140 à 120 pesos pour l'endroit agreable ombrage pres de San Ignacio 1,5 km

Report Check-In

cool spot on the lagoon- 120pesos for both of us- kids free.

Report Check-In

120 pesos per vehicle, gentleman came to collect in the afternoon. A couple of palapas and grills, bathrooms are bucket flush, showers weren't functional. Setting can't be beat, ducks swimming in the water below the date palms, although it was a little windy (as was everywhere else we were).

Report Check-In

Did not stay. No hot water. Barely bathrooms. Just dirt parking and common area of old van seats. Did not ask price. Nice location on bank of river but not much there.

Report Check-In

A shady palm tree filled place. The owner comes around to collect in the evening. The water was sketchy at best, we bought bottled water in town.
