Picked a site only a few yards up the road. Found an almost level spot next to a fire ring. Used 4WD as the road was rutted and potholed. Fairly quiet overnight though you can hear the highway noise. No other travelers up the road. Cell service was good.
Report Check-InExcellent campsite! Stayed 5 nights. Great good hiking right at the pass. Quiet, relatively flat. Our teardrop fit perfectly. No amenities, some ATT signal available.
Report Check-InWonderful spots! As described. CR-2 was not on some maps but comes right off the parking lot at Hoosier Pass. It is confusing since it says no camping in the parking lot. Continue up the road to several wooded spots. Great hiking opportunities from our campsite. Also recreation centers at Fairplay and Breckenridge offer showers.
Report Check-InGreat dispersed camping - signage at the parking lot can be a little confusing. There is no camping in the parking lot, but along the road is fine. The road is closed on winter, but open to vehicles otherwise (4x4 recommended, but the start of the road is in great condition)
Report Check-InNice hiking nearby. We only went up a little way before 4x4 was essential. Our 24” sprinter couldn’t make it very far. Nice quiet pull off but not very level. All lower spots were taken.
Report Check-InBeen here for a week and no neighbors! I think the no camping sing in the parking lot deters folks but it’s National forest. Probably 8 or 9 spots that don’t need 4x4 and more spots further up but 4x4 recommended for sure. Lovely and quiet. Lots of happy folks walking up and down the trail all day and there’s several trails here! Please leave no trace/ trash/ poop human or dog! Thankyou!
Report Check-InOne - two bars of cell service, 11,556’ elevation, right off Hwy 9 at Hoosier Pass. Lovely disbursed camping, no problem for 2wd sprinter van.
Report Check-InRoad is very rough, but found a flat spot right near trailhead at top of the pass. There are signs prohibiting motor vehicles around so you can only camp in front of them. Fire rings, fairly quiet.
Report Check-InDispersed camping in summer, follow dirt road Co 2 for a few hundred feet. Several sites along the road.
